The vegetable and tofu hot pot left a lot to be desired, personally. The vegetables weren't cooked enough as they were basically raw. The tofu had no flavor. I think this was in part because the broth itself lacked a lot of seasoning. I did use the chili oil at the table and it was much better, however, the tofu was not able to absorb the spices and tasted like nothing. The restaurant itself is nice. There was a little confusion on if we seat ourselves when we got it, but it was sorted. The service was efficient. I enjoyed that the menus were on the table under glass. It's actually pretty hard to find this dish. I'm surprised they had it. In my area, they don't have this on menus. It's pretty much fish that's been simmered and is served on a clay pot. The flavor was pretty good. I liked it. I wasn't a fan of the rice. I prefer my rice more towards the soft/ soggy side. The rice was cooked here how my mom would've cooked it. Lol. It wasn't bad, but everyone has their own preference of how they like their rice cooked. I also tried the pho dac biet. It comes with 3 meats (meatballs, beef, and brisket). The broth wasn't bad at all. I liked how it wasn't too sweet. The restaurant seems pretty clean. I used the restroom here and it seems that it had issues flushing. Good friendly service. Vermicelli bowl had fresh iceberg lettuce and pork. Spring rolls were good too. Bahmi was good but too heavy bun. Need to take some of the bulk of the bread out. The chicken pho was very good and satisfied my craving. They did a good job of not cooking all the flavor out of the chicken, which a few places are guilty of. We ordered the pork dumplings which were okay but I've definitely had better. The noodles in the pork Ramen entree were good but the pork was dry and chewy. There was a big chunk of cabbage in the broth that was tough and inedible. The scoop of cheap canned corn in the dish did not add to the flavor. The service was excellent. Traveled to Evansville for work and found this place. I ordered Vermicelli noodles with grilled pork, shrimp and egg roll. The fish sauce tasted fine. I felt like the vegetables (lettuce and cilantro) overwhelmed the bowl for me. The grilled pork tasted fine but I didn't like how the cuts were messy and not consistent with the other pieces. The shrimp was not grilled, which is what I'm use to when I order this dish. The shrimp was plain and had no flavor. The egg roll tasted different to me. Nothing chases away the blues on a cold, drizzly day more than pho for me...unless I'm in Evansville. Sorry guys...but if you grew up eating pho, this place won't cut it for you. The broth was muted & missing certain distinctive aromatics that make pho so good for people who love it. The noodles were also unfortunately over cooked & too soft. I prefer my noodles to be a bit chewy. Egg rolls were just meh...full of veggies & hardly any meat. I make these at home often & like it just so...with lots of pork & lump crabmeat. But, I get it, it would be too costly to make it the way I like it. On the plus side, it was crispy. Overall, the staff was nice & they know this place won't satisfy a true Viet food connoisseur.
