Was hoping to prove the other reviews wrong, but sadly had a very tasteless meal. Service was good tho. Had the ny steak not cooked well done and like I said no taste to it nor the corn. The other thing was one of the waitresses kept changing the shirts hanging on the window wall the only thing with that was she kept standing on every empty booth seat with her shoes on then didn't wipe the seat watched people sit there without even a wipe down. Now I just want to say I know with covid still going around places are super short staffed, so going into a place to eat on Labor Day I expected delays and to just be patient. But the staff as a whole had zero sense of urgency, and even from just standing inside waiting to be seated you could tell they were super unorganized and not communicating. Once we had sat down and ordered our food and drinks we noticed a continuous theme: waitresses not being very attentive and hair in damn near everything. Once we were served, all we had at our table was salt and pepper. We needed ketchup and syrup, but after waiting 10 for our waitress to acknowledge us while our food is getting cold, we just went up to the station ourselves to grab what we needed. Once we got the check, we waited 20+ minutes to be cashed out. While waiting, the couple in front of us were given the wrong check, and multiple staff members just walked away and had zero interest in resolving the issue. It wasn't until they threatened to just leave and not pay until they cared to resolve the issue. Moral of the story: this place sucks. You'd be better off going to the McDonald's down the road and probably treated better too. If you like hair in your food and being ignored by staff, this is your kinda place. read more

My girlfriend and I were in town for a family reunion. The waitstaff was so nice... To everyone but us. The waitress took our order with an attitude, and we did not see her again until she dropped our food off. We were ONE bite into our food before she slapped down our bill and didn't say a word. Meanwhile every other table is being asked "How's your food? How are you today?" We finished eating, the food was ALRIGHT and just alright. The service was awful. read more

My family and I (10 of us) chose mamas kitchen because it seemed like a nice family restaurant. The service was substandard. It seemed as tho they had never had a table that large..I felt like we threw them for a loop. We had an array of different things from the large menu and out of all 10 meals only 2 people enjoyed theirs. (Italian chicken sandwich and fettucini alfredo). Prices seemed a little high for the quality of food served. Also the fact they add 15% gratuity for a table of FIVE or more seemed crazy..a large table to me would be 8 or more. I used to go here when I lived up north, and it was really a hit or miss. Honestly living in Oscoda year round doesn't give you many options. There only good meal is breakfast, besides that it's pretty gross. read more

I read through the reviews and I find it hard to believe all the negativity people have to say about this restaurant. My husband and I eat here frequently for breakfast or lunch, sometimes dinner and have never had any bad experiences. Wait staff always attentive and friendly. Food is always delicious. Sunday afternoon 7/5/20..have been here before so decided to visit again..i understand they are understaffed and dealing with Covid-19 regulations but wait staff had no masks on face..we sat at a designated table and waited to be acknowledged..10 min later a young girl asked if we'd been helped..10 min later another couple walks in and sits..they get menus and drink order taken immediately.aaaand still no more acknowledgement for us so we left....i can be a patient person but to be ignored is unacceptable..to bad for them because i no longer will support them..Also heard the waitresses bitching about cutomers...took my money elsewhere. read more

Not sure why the negative reviews. Happy they were open on Christmas Eve on our way further north. Very filling hot meal with included sides. Friendly attentive staff. We have always been happy eating here when traveling through the area. read more

Mama's Kitchen is a Greek restaurant with a good selection of Greek, Italian, and American meals. Located on US 23 just south of town. I'm particularly fond of their salads. They also do well on breakfast omelettes. read more

The lunatics are running the asylum. 11:00 am Sunday 7/31/11 Leaving town to go South, the 4 of us wanted to stop for breakfast in town. Fairly busy but they still had 6 or so empty booths- we sat ourselves after waiting at the door with no greeting . Waitress stopped by the table, looked at us, paused, and walked away without saying anything. She came back and took our drink order after 10 minutes of twiddling our thumbs. 4 cokes came back warm and flat. After our food was ordered, she came back with all new cokes with fizz (had ran out of co2- it happens). We waited for -NO EXAGGERATION- over an hour before someone finally said something about the time and that (we counted) 9 tables were waiting for food at the same time. looked up and noticed our waitress was working the register. Grandma went up and asked about the food and the waitress said it was coming right out. 10 more minutes go by, 15, 20, 25, 30. Left a fiver on the table for our pops that ran out an hour prior and left hungry. TOTAL TIME: 1 hour 45 minutes and no food, no "I'm sorry we have issues today" , no refill on drinks. I ordered biscuits and gravy and received an obviously frozen and microwaved biscuit topped with a cup of gravy for $4.95. The coffee we were served tasted horrible and it was quite obvious that are meals were thawed out from the freezer. My friend asked for strawberry topping for his pancakes and was advised by the waitress to pass because the strawberry topping was frozen and would have to be microwaved before serving. Overall, our meal was disgusting and we would have been better off going to McDonald's instead. read more

This was our first time staying in Oscoda and Mama's was recommended. We were there on a Sunday morning and they stayed busy. It took a while for them to take our order. The food was good and arrived in a reasonable amount of time, but was not hot. It was difficult to get coffee refills. There were quite a few tables that needed to be cleaned and the waitresses were always on the go. The man at the register was not real friendly. Never got a thank you from any of the staff. Would probably not go back with so many other choices in town. They need to hire more staff, especially on weekends. read more

Give this place a go! This restaurant has a very comfortable vibe to it. The prices are reasonable. I was visiting the area and thought to stop by. It was all worth it. I enjoyed the lemon rice soup, very delicious and hot! The fried cheese was AMAZING and the lemons to it hit the spot. I got the cheese manicotti and it was simply the best. Food was pretty good, the place has a bit of a Dennys feel to it in some ways. I had breakfast, it needed some salt, i added some salt, happiness ensued. Had the skillet, that was really good and a large portion, the toast was great, im picky bout my toast, thats so easy anyone should be able to nail that, they also had apple butter in the jelly dish, thats a huge bonus. Also had biscuits and gravy, the biscuits were really good, now that im thinkin bout it i shoulda got bacon but ive already played the gluttony card to its fullest extent. The local radio plays in the background the staff seems happy and friendly, they were quick and on it with the drinks. The place seemed clean from what i saw. As far as breakfast goes im very satisfied, ill definitely be back. read more

Wife had spaghetti and meatballs. It was average. I had the veal parmigiana. It was good too. Both meal portions were more than enough. I was disappointed that they wouldn't substitute Alfredo sauce for the marinara on my pasta side. Would have been nice to mix it up a little seeing how the veal had marinara as well. Plus, it might have peaked my interest to come back and try the chicken Alfredo. I can't imagine it would cost that much more for a spoon full of one over the other. I would have paid a buck or two but was told I'd have to purchase an entire additional meal at something like $12. No thanks. Probably won't go back. Not due to the food but to the lack of accommodating a very simple request. read more

I can't believe the reviews for this place have been so low! We have been there twice while staying in Oscoda for a week and half and it won't be our last time. Great specials every time we've been there with sides (mashed potatoes and the different soups have been our favorite). All other places have been a let down after eating here. The food and price cannot be beat!! read more
