The food is absolutely amazing! i was so shocked on how good it was! The service is top notch! i had no problems whatsoever and the food came very quickly. it was very quiet with spanish music and a beautiful flower design with awesome chandeliers, very comforting!! all in all, Mambo's is a great place to go and grab lunch with the family!!

    Shrimp & Lobster Mofongo!

Extremely disappointed. The mofongo was very dry, I had to cut it with a knife! The lobster was not fresh. Everyone knows that seafood should always be served fresh. I won't be surprised if the plate went from the refrigerator to the microwave. Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day at this place. Had to ask for water twice. Never got our appetizer. Long wait time for to be served a TV dinner. Don't be fooled by the picture. The best part was the salad. Let me end it by saying we had to ask for the bill twice.

View from back deck. Beautiful (until train horn blows lol)

Atmosphere is great, Covid has definitely taken its tool on what they can offer. No vegetarian options. Waitress has to do it all, seat, take orders, make drinks, serve and clean up so don't expect quick service. When the Amtrak goes buy you will know it ...it's LOUD.

Good drinks, fun atmosphere, and friendly staff... lots of staff, ie bouncers. There's a deck on the back and an upstairs dance floor. Recommendation: Order the first round.

My boyfriend took me here after getting a tip that this place has the best mofongo in town. While we have only had mofongo one other time before this, it has already become one of our favorites! We also ordered beef empanadas and onion rings to accompany our meal. Unfortunately, the kitchen was out of onion rings so I had to opt for the tostones. The empanadas came out first and one order came with two patties! We were served chicken instead of the beef we had ordered. Not a big deal, we didn't even bother telling our server. Frankly, the empanadas were a bit dry and I wished they came with a dipping sauce other than the store bought tomatillo and Frank's Red Hot the table. The tostones on the other hand, were amazing and came with a ketchup/mayo sauce! Next came our much anticipated mofongo. I had ordered the fried pork mofongo since other Yelpers had said the pork here was good and my boyfriend went with the garlic shrimp. I'd suggest going with the garlic shrimp because the fried pork was very dry, even with the sauce that it came with it. Even so, my boyfriend and I both agreed that we didn't like the mofongo here as much as where we first had it. Although Mambo is a restaurant, it definitely has a club feel to it. With numerous drink specials written on blackboards throughout the restaurant, I'm sure weekends here are a blast. I can't wait to come back here for more tostones and dancing!

Carne de rés guisada, and Tostones. Authentic Dominican ..YUM

FINALLY Caribbean food that reminds me of my mother's cooking. Authentic Dominican food which takes 20-30minutes to prepare (trust me when I say it's worth the wait). Last night, my boyfriend friend and I got hungry during the Agalloch show so we ventured into the cool fall breeze to seek out this place. It appears to be a bar at first, with a few tables in the back, but the bartender told us to sit wherever we wanted if we came to eat. DO NOT COME HERE FOR AMBIANCE: It's a divy-bar styled place. Sandals decorate the walls. The atmosphere is nice though. In spite of it's looks, families come here, and the service is friendly. The sounds of bachata and salsa fill the air, as does the smell of the delicious food I'm about to describe: Tostones are the biggest I've ever seen. I know if your eyes scanned that, it looks like a perverted joke, but it's not. Tostones are fried green (not ripened) plantains. I ordered beef stew (Carne de rés guisada) with a side of yellow rice. The rice comes with a helping of beans flavored with onions and possibly cilantro. I was able to symmetrically part the meal in two and have enough for a second dinner. I hope that gives you an idea of the portion size. Like I said, this is the real deal as far as caribbean dishes go. DELICIOUS, and highly recommended.

So far I say will say this is probably on of my favorite Spanish restaurant in Connecticut. I order the paella, the seafood in the dish was seasoned perfectly and the rice was good. I would definitely come again

    It was very good

I visited last week. Had the mofongo with shrimp and lobster tail chased with an ice-cold Presidente. I can die and go to heaven now.

Authentic Caribbean food...no b.s. Home cooked meals that will stick to your bones. If you are not hungry, go somewhere else.

I'm not sure what to call this shop. They serve Mexican, Salvadorian, Dominican and Peruvian food…read morefor breakfast and lunch. I came here during the week and only 2 employees were here. I ordered the Huevos a la Mexicana, 3 bean and cheese pupusas and my brother ordered the Dominican. Food came out in 10 minutes or less and it was hot! Our server was really nice too! Food was delicious!! The best thing we ate was the bean and cheese pupusas and the Peruvian juice. The huevos a la Mexicana was just okay. Beans needed more flavor and eggs needed seasonings. The meal came with avocado but they didnt tell us they'd charge us for it. I gave this place 4 stars because checking out was so confusing. Some items were missing from our check and it seemed like they overcharged us. I think next time they should write everything the customers ordered down in detail so this doenst happen to anyone else because we went back and forth with the cashier and we both were confused. Also if you add additional items to the meal, even if they ask you if you want it always assume that they will charge you for it because that's what they did to us. Overall I may come back if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

On a hot summer day I woke up wanting a Latino desayuno (breakfast). I have driven by New London…read moreSabor Latino many times and the photos looked really good. Tho is a very small, no frills place and when I walked in the owner/chef was there and we discussed what I could eat. I settled on Huevos Rancheros but also added an order of Pupasas (frijole on queso). To wash it down I had a Guava Jarritos. This place is cash only so bring money as I didn't see a nearby ATM. Delicious .... Simply delicious. While eggs are pretty simple the salsa and the rice are homemade. The rice was very good and is often taken for granted. The Pupasas were being made fresh so I'll have to review them at home. So I decided to take them to go along with a couple of Jarritos. Highly recommend this place if you want authentic Latino
