    ginger margarita

We were so excited to happen upon a Mexican resteraunt, because it is always our 1st choice, but the food was Meh. As a resteraunt, the downstairs was very small with 3 tables & a bar; the upstairs was more spacious. The food was edible, but it wasnt anything special; nothing a novice cook at home couldnt produce taste-wise, & you would have never known you were in a Mexican resteraunt by the food, the ambiance, or the drinks (which is hard to do because margaritas are made of tequila) Granted what we ordered wasn't Mexican, but isn't that strange in itself? I ordered one of the specials: ($27) boneless beef short ribs w/ a mescal mushroom sauce, on a bed of mashed potatoes & spinach w/ pickled onions, & a ginger margarita ($14). My friend chose the special ($26) coconut crusted cod w/ rice, mixed vegetables, pineapple salsa & a house silver margarita (16). Mine was edible & the meat was a good texture, but the flavor profile was nothing to write home about. Actually, it would have have been better without the sauce, because it overpowered the dish. The pickled onion on top was the best part of my meal. The drink also fell flat, but was drinkable. My friend reported that her fish was bland & flavorless, but could have been improved with a little lime. However the waitress never came back after taking the order, except to drop the check. It was delivered by a runner. She commented that everything else on the plate had flavor & as long as she ate bites of everything together, it was decent. I gave it a try, & agreed, but I have to say the pineapple salsa was a stand out star on her plate. Her drink was also passable, but not good enough to order a second & she had to add sweetner, because it was mutually bitter & tart. She said the sweetner improved it. The wait staff was not unpleasant, they were just mot attentive. Needless to say I won't be returning.

YUM! If you're in the mood for Mexican (especially after or during Antique shopping) this is a fabulous find!!! To start the Cinnamon and Honey Margarita is AMAZING! Sweet with a taste cinnamon and the tequila is infused with the cinnamon and honey. Dipped in graham cracker and cinnamon spice! Delish! Nacho chips and selection of dipping sauces was great! Entrees were steak quesadillas! Side salad was fresh, crisp, with rice. Quesadillas have a fried tortilla - very good!! Our Server was attentive, helpful with our selections as well! We will be back!

Cozy bar and Very good beer selection. Wife having an excellent fresh margarita

Both had fish tacos and the homemade chips and 3 salsa dip tray. I had the local beer from beer'd which was unbelievable. Wife had the fresh ingredient margarita,, very good. Nice bar atmosphere, a big group had just left the bar at 3pm and when we left at 4 some locals arrived to the bar. Good vibes. Nice outdoor eating area as well.

I had never heard of Milagro until I was at Stonington Vineyard and trying to find a place for dinner. Our usual haunts were all booked up and someone said "you should try Milagro's!" And they had room for our table of six and OMG, every single moment of our early evening was perfect. I had the vanilla thyme margarita which I loved! Our table had a strawberry margarita, Margo margarita which Vic said "was slay", a spicy original margarita and the fresh margarita. Everyone loved their choices. Look chips for a Mexican restaurant are always up for judgement and these were perfect. We had the guacamole and the 3 salsas. All of it was delicious. Those chips were so good! For dinner my husband was sad because he loves chimichanga's and they aren't "on the menu" but he asked ... do you have a chimichanga? And they do! beef and chicken! He loved it. I and my daughter had the fish tacos and, seriously, look through my reviews. I'm very tough on fish tacos and I swear... best. Fish. Tacos. Ever. No lie. No exaggeration. Let me say it again, Best. Fish. Tacos. Ever! Another guest had steak tacos and loved it. Another guest had the enchiladas verde and she loved them and Anna had the lobster quesadilla and it was magical (and swag) and she ate my last fish taco because I was full and it was so good! So what I'm saying is. This place? Yes. Do it. So good. Thumbs up. All the thumbs up.

    Papaya margarita. Delish!

I can't recommend Milagro enough. The food is always spot on delicious. The service is exemplary. Rebecca comes up with amazing flavors for her margaritas. Janet makes you feel like you're her only concern. And it's the best bargain in the borough! Amazing food and beverages at a reasonable price. Since they expanded a few years ago your seating choices are either upstairs, outside on the patio, or at the bar, my personal choice. 100% fabulous!!

The food and staff are the high spots of this restaurant. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The food was interesting in a good way, not all the typical Mexican fare. The mole sauce was particularly good. The atmosphere is not quite up to par, especially the outside seating in a narrow alley that is cluttered.

We had a nice time at Milagro's on Sunday. Cozy modern American Mexican atmosphere with a bar/lounge area on the first floor and more dining tables on the second floor. The menu online was more descriptive and offered pictures compared to the lackluster menu in person. Parking could be challenging especially during busier times. We went during a rain storm and lucked out with a spot on the street right out front. Service was attentitive and gracious, however we got a dumbfound look when we entered and didn't know where to sit as we didn't really know the options as it was our first time there. The food the kitchen put out was pretty good. It was Mexican with a modern flair. We had the chips and salsa which came with some freshly made chips with 3 different salsa's to try. We also tried the cauliflower tacos appetizers which were deep fried on a small double tortilla with some guacamole and chopped onions and tomatoes. It was very tasty and sufficient for a appetizer. For my meal I had the Baja Fish Tacos, which were delicious. The fish tasted fresh and was crispy. The tacos had a mayo-style shredded slaw on them, which I didn't think I would like but was actually pretty good. It was served with a scoop of Mexican rice. My date had the Enchiladas al Horno as a vegetarian option. It was a lasagna style enchilada with a couple of layers with lots of onions, mushroom, and spinach. She wasn't really a fan of the amount of onions though. For dessert, we had the Apple Churro Bites which were yummy little morsels of a molten liquid apple filling in some dough with a fantastic carmel dipping sauce. We also had the Dulce De Leches Tres Leches Cake, which I'd skip next time. It was kinda dry and not so fresh. Now that I think of it the Churro Bites dipping sauce was probably the Dulce De Leche for the cake, though it was on Churro Bites plate. Hmmm. All in all, Milagro Cafe was pretty good and I wouldn't hestitate to give them another if I were in the area.

This place is a wonderful spot to come to in Stonington. The environment was quiet when I came in, I can see that even if it gets more crowded it'll still be a comfortable environment. They put my group of 10 upstairs and they even offered to do separate checks which is extremely rare for a restaurant. The staff was so kind and accommodating. This is a real deal Mexican restaurant, especially the menu. So much so everything is in Spanish. Below I will provide a English food menu. I personally ordered the Carne Asada Tacos, the staff was really accommodating and put cheese on the tacos and gave me a double order of rice on the side. It was so scrumptious and was a perfect portion, especially for the price. Overall I'm very pleased with this restaurant, I would definitely recommend this to anyone stopping by Stonington.

Man oh man where do I begin. Me and my crew were starving and some had scurvy from a week of sailing. Close to a mutiny we had to eat to settle the storm down below. We decided on this place last year and once again we went here as everything else is booked. Our waitress spilt the check TEN ways even splitting the chips and salsa for the table between us all. She refilled our drinks for free and same with chips it is some supreme service. With the Mexican music in the background scurvy was no more, we were ready for hibernation. The food was huge and so good for such a cheap price. Everything was great even the bathrooms where I opened the bomb doors and unleashed never before seen destruction upon the water. Overran it gets a 9/10 on the dave rating scale.

    Spicy margaritas and guac.

Very enjoyable. Our server, Maggie was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We had the Baja fish tacos and chicken mole (with hot sauce added). Spicy margaritas and chunky guacamole to start and rice pudding cheesecake to go.

We had an amazing meal at Milagro this past Saturday. We ordered take out and had a picnic by the ocean and it was perfect! The food was hot and fresh! If you like Mexican I think this is the best Mexican food I've yet to have in Ct. I felt like I was back in Cancun (it was that good!). Many vegetarian options, I had the vegetarian enchilada and it was so flavorful! If you like margaritas they make their own fresh mix and it was amazing!

We went for an early seating yesterday and bravely brought our 8 month old. This was already a bold ask because this restaurant doesn't scream children but port of call took it with stride. We were accommodated with a highchair and several staff stopped to say hi to our baby. (For his part, our baby was relatively chill although a loud babbler, and no tears which we would call a win). Now onto the product. Absolutely phenomenal. We were wowed from start to finish. Every single drink, dish, and dessert far exceeded our expectations. The happy hour menu is very generously priced and had several favorites off the actual menu, as well as some items which I believe are available all the time. Our server (I'm very sorry I can't think of his name) was fantastic and offered excellent recommendations to like drinks on the current menu based on drinks we said we usually steer towards. Every drink (we had 4 different ones) absolutely knocked it out of the park. This would be an awesome spot for cocktails and apps with friends but is also a superb full service date night spot. We can't (and won't) stop raving about port of call!!!

I actually expected it to be really busy when we got there around 10:45, but there were quite a few open tables. They sat us in a queue table right in the window near the water. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looks so good. I ended up with the Patatas Brava which had soupy in it. I haven't had soup in years and they made it really stand out with the home fries, eggs, and crema. My wife had the basic breakfast, and everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. We ordered an apple crêpe for the table that had caramel and toasted almonds on it. The staff was also great. We had one waitress, but a second one was always there to check on us. The service gets five stars for sure! I wish we had a place like this near our house. While the hotel offers several dining possibilities, there is no question in my mind that Coast is their culinary chef d'oeuvre. My dining partner and I found their New England-inspired cuisine to be not only beautifully presented but also absolutely delicious. Throw in an award-winning wine list, friendly & personable service, picturesque view of the Atlantic Ocean, and a most satisfying evening at table awaits. Be advised, however... What also awaits is a pretty hefty hit on your pocketbook, as our five-course prix-fixe Degustation Menu - with several choices included - was priced at $145.00 per person, plus beverages, tax & gratuity (there is also a similarly priced vegetarian menu). If you want to add the Reserve Wine Pairing, which I did, that will cost you an additional $125.00 per person (Grand Wine Pairing an additional $250.00 per person). Definitely not what you would call a cheap date. That being said, however, in my opinion - and that of my companion as well - dinner here is well worth the expenditure. Our first course was the Ninigret Pond Oyster "Pan Roast." Sourced from a local coastal lagoon that is linked to the Atlantic Ocean and Block Island Sound, Ninigret Pond is home to several reliable oyster purveyors. I must confess that I have never been an enthusiastic fan of bivalves in general - and raw oysters in particular. However, the pan-roasted representatives sampled here, smooth & buttery with a touch of sweetness and sprinkled with Royal Belgian Osetra Caviar, were quite good indeed. And the Ruinart Singulier 18th Edition, Blanc de Blancs, Brut Nature, Champagne, (France), proved to be the perfect libationary accompaniment. But even better was the outrageously delicious Bluefin Tuna Tartare. I have tasted this dish on numerous occasions; however, this particular incarnation was in a class all by itself. Gently caressed by avocado and kissed by golden kiwi and a beguiling carrot ginger reduction, the result was a presentation that was pleasing to both eye and palate, and a highlight of our evening. The 2019 Tegernseerhof Loibenberg Riesling Smaragd Wachau (Austria), of course, added immensely to the enjoyment. The next course presented us with a rather interesting conundrum... the choice between two equally appetizing possibilities. My dining companion, of course, went immediately for the Seared Scallops & Foie Gras. I, on the other hand, decided to side entirely with the carnivores... Kuro Farms Wagyu Strip Loin. Companioned by short rib, confit carrot, and Sicilian pistachios, this was a winner all the way... as was the wine selection, the 2020 Aslina "Umsasane," an enticing blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot from Stellenbosch, South Africa. The dessert course was especially noteworthy, a Blackberry Sudachi Entremet aided and abetted by white chocolate mousse, lavender, and raw honey sponge. A rather unusual denouement, I must admit, but a lovely presentation and irresistibly scrumptious. And, once again, the wine selection - 2018 Domaine Huet Le Mont Moelleux, a Chenin Blanc from Vouvray, Touraine, in France's Loire Valley - was right on the money. The Bottom Line: An exceptionally fine dining experience. Pricey, to be sure... but, in my opinion, worth every penny. A restaurant to which my dining companion and I would gladly return. Highly recommended on all counts.
