Their food is good but every time we try to order trays for a party the staff that answer the phone are extremely rude, unorganized, tell you they will call you back but don't, tell you the owner isn't there when he is, and raises their prices every time we call. It took us two days to try to order food for a group of 14 people and they charged $25 for a small tray of white rice. We decided not to go with them and will no longer call for any events. Update: we decided to purchase empanadas and ordered an hour before pick up. We asked it to be ready by 12:15p and ended up waiting an additional 25 minutes until 12:40pm. Heard a lot about this place from local folks so me and a couple of friends were reasonably eager to give this place a shot. Needless to say, we were quite disappointed. Service was the normal. Relatively friendly and patient but at times it I felt as though our waiter was too easily distracted and had a though time prioritizing his tasks. We even dined in during a not so busy hour. They seemed to prioritize spraying down the windows and tables. essentially keeping up a mega clean appearance, than giving attention to their customers' needs and requests. Nothing wrong with maintaining a clean restaurant but they could do better with their prioritization. Menu had a good variety of options but the prices were a little more on the jacked up side for some items most likely due to their increasing popularity in the area. Had a taste of their Beef and Chicken Empanadas ($1.25 each). The fillings for both were a bit more on the mushy side with the potato filling overpowering the actual meat filling. On the plus side, the crispy outer layer was quite nice. Didn't get to try their Empanadilla ($1.75 each) but they were double the size and seemed pretty good. As for my main dish, I took a gamble at their Pupusas Salvadoreñas ($9). Figured I'd be a little daring and try something new that there isn't a photo of yet on Yelp. Took one for the team folks. In the end, I would not recommend getting this and if you do eat it with their special Mambo sauce instead of the dip provided (my preference of course). The meat was quite bland with no seasoning and the outer corn cake layer tasted like stale tortilla chips. Basically, layers of dry and unflavorful goodiness. It wasn't bad, just not what my taste buds are accustomed to. The place does stand out in the area, and is quite clean and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, I don't think I'd be coming back. But if I do, I'll most likely be trying their safer dishes like the quesadillas, Columbian hot dogs, and such and such. read more

Ever since I came back from Queens, I REALLY missed eating Colombian food. This place is a hidden treasure, located in deserted Pleasantville, but very modern, clean, and somewhat out of place. My friend and I wanted to try everything. So we ordered the nachos, but we couldn't choose between beef or chicken so the server offered us half and half. Both were delicious, but we preferred the beef! If your server offers you hot sauce, make sure you get the homemade hot sauce. It's tangy and slightly spicy, but so flavorful. Then we ordered the arepa with grilled beef and shrimp with ketchup-mayo which they call the Mambo pink sauce. I've had arepas before, but this was slightly different than what I've had. The arepa was tough, but the shrimp and beef were well cooked. And finally we got my favorite....the bandeja paisa, which had everything. The strip steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and perfectly seasoned and juicy. The chicharron was nice and crispy. The plantain was one of the best I've had, ripe and deliciously sweet. It's safe to say that we didn't finish the nachos but we certainly finished everything else! The nachos were big for two people, so I suggest coming with three or four people. Our server, John or Jon, was super nice. He checked up on us frequently even when he had other tables. The bathroom was incredibly clean and the decor was nice and bright. read more

So I've been stopping into this place for a while and this girl that works there always gives me an attitude and talks about me in Spanish. Little does she know I do understand some Spanish and I didn't appreciate what she had to say. On top of that the last three times I was there I was served barely hot, but somehow burned empanadas. Family run authentic puerto rican bakery/restaurant, the moment I walked in I was greeted by friendly hospitable waitresses. I actually came in for take out which took a while... I ordered the chicken chicharron mofongo, empadas de pollo and empanadilla de carne. I got to practice some of my spanish while I ordered which was nice, kind of made me miss my days in Barcelona. When the food finally came, I ate it on the way to my destination. ( I was doing a road trip, not sure if this is the place to go to for take out since they take some time to make.) The empanadas were good, my favorite was the chicken. Both were about the same just a size difference. This was my 2nd time having mofongo. I found it to be a little bit dry but the chicken chicharron was good, the soup sauce that it came with helped improve the dish and made it a little more moist. If I was around here again, I'd give it another shot but I would dine in instead of doing take out. read more

Ok so I'll admit I was a little skeptical. No worries, this place ROCKS! We started with seafood ceviche which was so fresh and delicious. The cilantro and line were spot on! It was big enough for my wife and I to share. Then we got to the main courses. My wife got a special of roasted pork with rice and sweet plantains. It was so delicious!!! I am not even a lover of plantain but these were perfect. I had a corn arrepa with fried pork. So fresh and delicious. The pork was crispy nabs the corn arrepa was crispy outside and creamy outside. The service was excellent. The decor and music were perfect. It felt so well integrated into the dining experience. The owner also owns a small grocery across the street and you can park there. This was absolutely the most surprisingly awesome dining experience I've had in a long time. Prices totally reasonable. I'll be back soon bringing friends. This place deserves the 5 stars all around. This is definitely a hidden gem in this town. The decor in this place is really nice and colorful as if it is setup as a lounge. Now reviewing the food where do I begin. Can you say 1$ empanadas! To top it off they are awesome! Can you say 1$ pin da ban (cheese bread) and it's also awesome and fresh. I can't say I'm an expert on what authentic Colombian food taste like, but this place definitely gives you the bang for you buck! Let's start off, the place is clean and very modern looking and when you walk in you feel very welcomed because the cashiers there greet you and attend to your needs. They got us a table for 7 and we were seated immediately. Our server was extremely pleasant and I forgot her name but she always made sure we were happy with our meal and was very attentive. I always love great customer service and she was a very happy cheery woman. Now onto the food...it was amazing! The prices are extremely fair and the portion sizes of everything is HUGE! A LOT of meat on all the meat entrees. Each dish we ordered was awesome and we had no complaints about anything. Mambo also has a huge selection at their bakery section of the restaurant and carry things varying from empanadas to strudels to other misc baked items. There are plenty of space, so you can definitely accompany a large crowd of people, but make sure to make a reservation in case. I'll start off with yummmmm. Great ambiance inside. Great service too. They had daily specials we decided to try an app- mozzarella garlic bread. It ended up not being good at all and we were worried about how our food would be! We got the chicken potato Empanada, chicken cheese Empanada, chicken flautas and chicken tostadas. The only Colombian food around! But they do a pretty good job! Mondongo only on Mondays which bummed me out a little, but the bandeja paisa was all I ever wanted. From their baked goods such as bunelos y alcapurias to their main dishes (thier bandeja paisa is delicious), to their homemade juices to their coffees. Being from South Florida, I have sorely missed my cafe con leche. Having googled Cuban Coffee, much to my delight we found this place only 20 minutes down the BHP from our house. Buy an empanada here, and it's like having an angel cum in your mouth for under $2. Can't beat it, and they don't give you diarrhea either. Their hot sauce is also one of the best hot sauces ever.
