Dear MAMR, On May of 2018, I adopted a little puppy named (at the time) Chi Chi Cher from the Moms and Mutts Rescue in Denver, CO. She was only 11 weeks old and full of excitement and life as most puppies are. MAMR did an outstanding job fostering her before I brought her home to be with my husband and I. We have no children. I renamed her, "Annie Oakley" as she was loaded with high energy and always packed a big hug to everyone. She was put through extensive training to become a "Service Dog" for my husband, as he had a massive heart attack and stroke. "Annie" changed our lives for the better, as she loved unconditionally and gave 100 percent of her love to us and many others. I would periodically take her with me to Wal-Mart to keep her maintenance up. She would have made a great greater at Church, as it was instilled in her to go up and love on everyone she saw, especially those in the military. When given a "Q", after meeting someone in service at W-Mart, she would sit and then give the sweetest "salute" over and over again, to thank them for serving. It made their day. There were several times, people would gather around and take video of her saluting and find out later it was on facebook or twitter. Today, "Annie" turns "8" year old and we hope and pray she will be with us for many more years to brighten everyones day with her loving attitude and unconditional love towards everyone. I paid $250 deposit to this rescue for a puppy. The day prior to me receiving the puppy, I was informed by telephone that said puppy had a highly- contagious and possibly deadly parasitic disease. The puppy was advertised on the website prior to all diagnostic results. Per the company contract: "* BY SIGNING THIS SECTION OF THE CONTRACT YOU AGREE THAT MAMCO RESCUE HAS TAKEN REASONABLE PRECAUTIONS TO ENSURE THE HEALTH AND WELL: BEING OF THE DOG PRIOR TO ADOPTION." This was not followed, and they will only give me credit towards another animal. They refused to refund my money. Why would I trust this rescue to get another animal if they do not wait for a clean bill of health prior to posting the animals on their website? read more

I rescued Bailey on June 10. I can't thank the amazing staff at Mamco enough for all that they do. My whole experience was exceptional. Bailey took a few weeks to get adjusted to her new home. I was more then prepared from the information that Mamco gave me, I also felt confident that I could contact them if I needed to. I adopted "Penguin" (renamed to Jasper) about a month ago. I moved from out of state and was looking to rescue a dog! MAMCO was prompt approving my application. The application process was thorough and I felt confident picking up my puppy! Obviously once I met Jasper I fell in LOVE. I adopted from MAMCO in February and continue to foster for them. They are an AMAZING organization and you can tell they truly care about the well-being of their pups and mamas. I've seen some disgruntled reviews about people's applications being denied by this organization, but I think that speaks to their thorough application check/home visits. I know it takes a lot of hard work and money to get the dogs up to CO and get them healthy so I would assume they are going to be diligent in finding the right homes for these puppy's second chances! Fostering has been a great experience as well and they provide everything I need, including 24/7 phone line support! read more

This shelter denied my application because they asked if I left for 0-2 hours where would I keep my dog. I stated in our yard, which by the way is huge and accommodating, and they told me they denied me because they believe dogs should not be left outside for hours at a time! This ONE reason. Although I have a huge yard, plenty of space in my home, someone is home everyday, throughout the day, I can afford to take care of a dog and its vet bills ect ect! They are denying people that are able and willing to adopt for a small thing such as a dog being in the yard for POSSIBLY 2 hours a day! Pretty sure the dog would love it too! Ridiculous! Brianna, who I spoke to over the phone, was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. I called regarding the next steps in the adoption process (my application was approved and I received an email explaining placing a deposit but I had further questions) and also wanted to place a deposit on a puppy but was unsure which were still available. She happily checked on a few puppies for me that had already been reserved, and then was able to confirm that a few of the others I was looking at were available! She patiently and thoroughly answered all my questions (to the best of her ability with the information she had available) about each dog's temperament and potential full grown size. Eventually, after a long deliberation, I ended up putting down a deposit on a puppy currently named Cameron (we have yet to decide what we are going to name the little girl) and my husband and I couldn't have made the decision without her help! The customer service was excellent and it seems this organization has a great grasp on making their dogs' lives as happy and safe as can be from the moment they come into their care. I thought the questionnaire on the application was thorough and asked great questions, and even prompted me to really evaluate what all my past pet experiences/ research on getting a puppy had taught me. Also, my application was reviewed and approved quickly and the employees reached out with an informational email as soon as it had gone through. I think it's a scam that they expect you to put down a non refundable deposit on a dog. It's not that easy to just find a dog that you want. What if in 6 months you don't find a dog you like? Then you've just given away $250 dollars. Also, they don't tell you anything about their dogs and expect you to make a decision in one minute of seeing the dog or you'll lose it. I was trying to find someone to ask about a dog I specifically told them I wanted and they let someone else who didn't have a deposit down on her adopt her. It was complete chaos, no sign up sheet to see any dog, no order give anyone time to decide on such a long term commitment. Someone had returned a dog and I thought it was strange but after seeing the process I totally understand. They had to make a rushed decision and probably found out the dog wasn't a good fit. All which could've been avoided it they let you have some time. I think they're scammers that don't truly care about the dogs best interest. read more

Currently in the process of adopting with Mamco and I can't say enough good things about them! I know dog rescues have found themselves especially busy during COVID but this is the only agency I've contacted who has been courteous and responsive. To me that says they really care about their dogs and finding them good homes. Yes their process is fast-paced as others have noted, but that's understandable with the high volume of adopters right now and who wants it to take longer to find a great dog! read more

We adopted from MAMCO August of 2018 and it was a fantastic experience. They do great work with their mission, focusing on vulnerable pregnant and/or nursing moms and their sweet pups. The application process was clear. Vaccination records were available to us and understandable, vet recommendations were given, spay/neuter is covered, and they stress to communicate any issues/concerns with them. I've sent a few pics of our pup as he's grown and they're always responsive to them. We will definitely look to adopt here again. read more
