Mammaw's Sweet Shoppe did a beautiful job with the buttercream icing two tiered cake. The bottom was chocolate with a raspberry filling and the top was funfetti. They were unable to do gumpaste orchids, so I added fresh orchids myself. They were also unable to do the 3d fondant guitar like I asked for, so I did that myself. The smoothness of the butter cream, the plaques and writing were impeccable. However, the cake was dry and there was practically no filling in the cake whatsoever. I think i've had better box cake mix. The icing got good reviews though. The manager and bakers were very attentive to make sure that every detail was correct, and the cake came out exactly as ordered, and well within time for me needing it. If the cake tasted better, they were able to do the accessory items I had requested, and they were less expensive, I would give them five stars. read more

My friends and I have ordered many cakes, cookies, cupcakes and $1 (dollar) cupcake day events for over 5 years for each other here. We enjoy supporting local small businesses. My friend ordered a birthday cake here as my gift. It was decorated beautifully on the outside. The cake order: one chocolate cake layer and one carrot cake layer with their vanilla almond buttercream. I was very disappointed when I sliced into the cake!!! There was no chocolate layer, but a spot of chocolate and the cake tasted like gingersnaps. I later found out my friend, who ordered the cake, mentioning one of the staff members called him, letting him know something was wrong with the cake and for him to stop in immediately to talk to Aaron. My friend was across the street at Tippecanoe Mall, so he was able to stop in within 5 minutes and once he had gotten there. The staff member tells him Aaron had just left. (Why would you leave, after you call your customer and the customer tells you he's across the street from your business and is stopping by like right now???). My friend also mentioned a staff member (a nice short young lady) blurts out the cake was made incorrectly and why did we decorate it!?! She continued to hand my friend the cake and told him to contact Aaron, which he did later. My friend was very annoyed with the lack of customer service and unprofessional staff, as well as, Aaron. (Staff is a reflection of management, so I do not fault them at all.) We do not understand why a bakery, knowing the mistake to move forward, having their cake decorator decorate it!?! This is not the first time I have had issues. First time with another cake order was for my wedding and the issue was minor so I let it go. I attended a consultation meeting with Mamaw's Sweet Shoppe with my future sister in law in preparation for her wedding. Mammaw's let us sample a variety of cupcake flavors, show ideas from Pinterest and the internet, and gave a quote for proposed ideas. They were professional and gave their opinions without being over-bearing. Their suggestion was to use a dummy cake for the centerpiece of the wedding desserts, then serve from a variety of sheet cakes. You can keep the dummy cake after the wedding or return it to receive credit for them being able to reuse the foam boards. I'll definitely update as we continue through the wedding planning process with Mammaw's. It is also really nice for weddings because the owners of Mammaw's also have a decor business and parter with a flower shop. It really simplifies the wedding planning process for a bride and her family. My suggestion--try the peanut butter lover cake/cupcake. It was amazingly delicious! read more

This will be the last time we'll get to order from them since we'll be moving out of town, so I thought I'd leave a review. Their cakes are always moist and have a little extra to them that make them that much more special. All of our guests raved about the cake we got from them this last time. And their sugar cookies are out of this world! They're not overly sickeningly sweet and have the perfect icing to cookie ratio in my opinion. My favorite is their cookies and cream cupcakes/cake. We showed a picture of our couple cake we wanted, three weeks before the wedding. The night before the wedding, my husband got a text from Aaron asking what we wanted. I first discovered Mammaw's when I was looking for my wedding reception cake and first fell in love with the flavors and then ambiance of the store itself...I was fearful I would not be able to find a place willing to make, what I felt, were two unique cakes. However, Mammaw's accomplished both cakes, with ease and grace. The cakes were delicious and exactly what I wanted. They listed to what I asked for, added the professionalism that can only be done, by well only professionals, and then crafted works of art. Then, I encountered Mammaw's in my day to day life, working as a wedding planner. I've seen them craft beautiful pieces of art for some of the pickest clients around, all while juggling 9-15 cakes in a single day and not break a sweat. They are goal orientated and customer focused. I think that any negative reviews on here are because maybe Mammaw's was being honest and the client didn't want to hear it, but at the end of the day, I would rather hear it straight, then be fed a line and over charged for something that wasn't exactly what I wanted. My friend used Mammaw's for their wedding recently. The cupcakes were VERY late arriving for the wedding and when they called to check, they kept getting different stories on where they were. They waited 6.5 hours beyond the promised delivery time. Apparently Josh Lindbloom had an order that bumped the wedding order because they asked 'do you know who he is?' Josh's money must spend differently. They ordered a separate cake to use as their 'take-home' anniversary cake. When ordering, they were asked if they wanted 'bling'? It was expensive, but they figured why not. After the ceremony and reception, they realized there was no box for the take home cake. When they returned the cupcake stand, they were asked to return the 'bling' from the cake. Nowhere in the contract did it say the 'bling' was a rental item. No apologies for the lateness, just excuses and bad service. No more business will go there. read more
