When I found out the owner of Milagro was opening another restaurant I had to try it out! Manana is the best Mexican restaurant in the area. The margaritas are great (not a sickeningly sweet bottled syrup), and the cuisine is delicious. This place has been sitting there awhile. My husband and I hadn't gone because we hadn't heard anyone mention it before. Plus I'm super picky about my Mexican food. I haven't found a place I like here yet. That is until we stumbled on to this hide away gem. It's so good. The flavors are amazing. It's fresh. The options are just what you usually see on a Mexican menu and so far I'm not disappointed. Add in the margaritas and we'll I'm sold as a now regular. The smokey margarita and the spicy margarita are my absolute favorite margarita I've ever had. And did I mention the food. I got a vegetarian meal the first time (just what I wanted not a lifestyle I follow) and it blew me away with the flavor combo that I hadn't had before. My husband really enjoyed his burrito too. We often leave places disappointed because we feel we could have made something similar or better at home, but not here. You won't be disappointed. I struggle to find good Mexican food in NYC, so imagine my surprise when I found it at this cozy spot in CT. In Stonington for the weekend, I stopped in with a friend for a casual Friday night dinner. Sat at the bar and chatted with the friendly staff while drinking an amazing strawberry margarita - like worth another 3 hour drive in the rain for another one amazing. There seems to be a dearth of real Mexican spots in the area (aside from "Tex-Mex" places) so I was intrigued when I heard about the new place in town. It was somewhat expensive but quite tasty. Two of us split the calamari--it was lightly battered, different from what you might find at a more traditional seafood spot. I had the lamb tacos; the meat was generously portioned, cooked and spiced to perfection and the corn tortillas were excellent. The restaurant is pricier than its locale might suggest, as entrees usually run over $15 and margaritas approach $10. Overall, though, for the closest to authentic Mexican around, you can't go wrong at Manana. read more

I've been here six or seven times over the past year, and I really enjoy this place. The food has solid, well developed flavors in the fishes that do not rely on drenching the food with too much sauce or hiding the quality with a layer of cheese the way so many other Mexican inspired restaurants do. I highly recommend getting one of their house margaritas. They are made from high quality tequila and ingredients, not some sugary premix used to mask poor tequila. The only dish I have been disappointed by was a duck special. Everything else has tasted great. One thing to note: their mole is more tomato based than other local Mexican or Tex-Mex fare. I have enjoyed it, but my friends expecting a sweeter or more chocolate-based mole have not been as enthused. Enjoy! read more

Last Saturday evening, was our third trip. We like the food, the Blue Moon & Shock Top. Great atmosphere. This is a refreshing change from typical Groton cuisine. Could be more spicy. But that's us. By spicy, I mean more coastal Caribbean and less mountain Latino. We enjoy the laid back atmosphere and a taste of Latin America. We are definately in the mood for a return rendezvous. read more

My partner and I found this place by chance and to be honest the location...in a mini plaza, gave me pause. When we walked in we were shocked. Great atmosphere, fantastic service and unbelievable food. My favorite meal on earth is chicken enchiladas with mole and oh my god it was fantastic! My partner had the taco salad. I of course rolled my eyes and said you can do better than that, it's a salad! Nope! It was unbelievable! It was served in a delicious taco shell and oh yes it was perfectly fried and filled with amazing cooked veggies, marinated cabbage and lettuce and finished with yep, you guessed it, mole. Heaven. Great Mexican food, even better margaritas!

If their food was cheap, I would say it was decent, but it was way overpriced for what you got. The salsa tasted like tomato sauce, and the chips are not good. I had beef fajitas: they were decent, but I was given three tiny tortillas, and a small cup of cheese (think smaller than what you get for salad dressing). The margaritas run from $9.50 and up, and are nothing special. And this may be bad luck, but the place was so smokey the entire time we were there that you felt like you were in the fry-o-later with the chips. Not worth the time. read more

Every time I come here I leave full and happy. The crispy crab roll special is to die for. The chicken fajitas are the best I have ever had. They're house made hot sauce is absolutely exquisite. The decor is creative and flavorful, just like the food. The owner is very kind and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty with the hard work, and he always has a welcoming demeanor. I stumbled onto this place, not knowing what to expect. The food, atmosphere and service were outstanding. I found myself thinking I was in Mexico. I ate at the bar, which happens to have a stellar tequila selection and cool lighting. The bar itself was beautiful, made of red blown glass. The margaritas were fresh and thankfully not too sweet.
