It was a nightmare to work with Jorge. My agent referred Jorge to me for the HO insurance. I completely understand the difficulty of getting the HO insurance for a property on the Oakland hills, but still got disappointed that he was only able to get the CA Fair Plan after waiting for a couple weeks. I used it to close the deal as the timeline was tight. Then I immediately started to looking for quotes from other brokers. Fortunately it didn't take me long to find another broker who helped me get a quote with way better coverage and 1/3 cost. When I called Jorge to cancel the FAIR plan, he issued the refund, but charged $200 "processing fee" WITHOUT my agreement! He said they have been in business over 25 yrs. I have to admit that his voice over the phone sounds professional, but I hope they knew charging a broker fee on CA FAIR plan is a violation of the CA department of insurance regulations. Super unprofessional. Don't believe those five stars. There are plenty of professional HO insurance brokers in the local area can help you get a decent plan. Stay away from this place. read more

I recently switched from another broker to this broker for 4 policies (1 home and 3 autos) because the previous broker (R.W. Williams Insurance in San Pablo) would refuse to answer my questions and would tell me he would call me back the next day. Well, lets just say that not receiving a call until 10 days later is not professional service at all. As it turns out I switched to this insurance broker that not only also takes 4 days to call me back to answer a simple question, but I cannot even speak to the actual broker directly. On my first visit a woman tells me that they will be in the office from 1-5pm, but when I show up at 3:40pm I had to wait for her to arrive at the office 45 minutes later when she said she was going to be there. I would not recommend this insurance agency, stick with the major companies like State Farm and AAA because they have real agents at real locations that can answer your calls and be at their office when they say they will. read more

I went to Mancheno because I wanted to support local business. I purchased both homeowners and auto insurance, paid an initial payment while in the office and set up a monthly payment plan. For the next two months, I paid the monthly installments, yet kept getting late notices from the insurance company. Mancheno couldn't explain it, and maddeningly stopped responding to my inquiries. Finally, the insurance company canceled the policy for non-payment... I was astounded. I called the insurance company directly, bypassing Mancheno and found that my initial payment was never sent in.
