This place is nothing like it used to be! Bare minimum and barely have anything but packaged foods. Few pizzas but doesn't look good. My fiance and I went this afternoon, oh my goodness, everything we got was a delight for the senses! We got a rum, raspberry, chocolate torte that was to die for....melt in your mouth- and fresh, a delicious cannoli, apple cheesecake taht was bursting with flavor, some kind of peach shaped dessert, that had custard inside-YUMMY! A custard, that was sooooo decadent, and a carrot cake that had the best icing ever! FYI, cash only. So this was one of my destinations on my short trip over the border. I was super excited about this place. Unfortunately, they don't take credit, so I didn't end up buying much. Unlike a lot of other places though, they do adjust the price somewhat for the American dollar. I wasn't going to exchange for Canadian dollars for a 2-hour trip. Got the tiramisu. Strong flavor. It was delicious! There was a ton of selection from bread, cakes to pastries and other baked goods. They also have a hot bar, which I found very enticing. Parking is relatively abundant, so I just parked in front. I would love to stop in again if I were on this side of the border. read more

Great little Italian bakery in the heart of Windsor Ontario's Little Italy. Pizza and hot foods to go. Gelato, recommend pistachio and fresh-baked breads. Great little grocery. Really enjoyed my visit here and would definitely go back. Worth the trip! read more

I visited the Italia Bakery twice over the last week. On my first visit, I purchased some tiramisu and egg tarts, both of which were really delicious. On my second visit I tried out their lunch buffet items, which starts at 10:30 am. They've got a great selection of pastas, pizzas, entrées, salads, etc. All of their food items were prepared fresh. Mind you, they were all so reasonably priced. I can't see anyone come to the Italia Bakery and not like this place. They've got such a great selection of delicious Italian baked goods and food items that are so very reasonably priced. Regrettably, despite living only 5 minute drive away from this place, I've only just discovered this place. I'm in love with this place and will surely be visiting on a regular basis. read more

Italia Bakery has a very nice assortment of breads, pastries, rolls and even a tasty hot lunch take-out section. A nice atmosphere of Canada and Europe combined. Only downside is that they only carry two bread types in whole wheat. Only reason why I'm not giving it five stars. Not sure if it's the lack of demand or if the mostly Italian crowd there just isn't into whole wheat breads. Almost forgot to mention it's a cash only shop. read more

They have a full hot buffet loaded with tons of options like pizza, stuffed zucchini, chicken cutlets, rice balls, pasta and more! I have purchased hot food and pastries several times from Italia Bakery. There is an impressive and delicious selection. Many of the prices are very reasonable. I did not offer 5 stars as some mini-cheesecakes purchased during my last visit were no longer fresh and had to be discarded. FYI, I visited yesterday to get lunch, but the store is closed. It is not clear from a note on the window (all windows are covered with brown paper) that the business will re-open. I am sure that I am not alone in hoping that it does...and soon! read more

For the old country traditionalists out there, this is your bakery. Everything is good - their bread is mouth-watering crazy good. They have delicious pastries too, and the only thing that makes me sad is that I do not live closer to this bakery - otherwise I would go everyday. My dad is from Malta - so when we visited there, the hardest thing to leave was the yummy bread. Italia Bakery is an excellent substitute for the bakeries that your parents/grandparents rave about when talking about the old country. For the Windsor locals, if you have never been to this bakery - go now! For Detroiters, you can find their bread (though not as fresh) at Alcamos in Dearborn - but if you can make it over to Windsor - do that instead! For some reason (likely the freshness), it is so much better. read more

I've been going to the Italia Bakery since I was little! My family loves it. We always get rum cakes from there for birthday parties. The pastries and hot lunches are so good and inexpensive! Oh and the bread... Yum! Very fresh. Italia Bakery has a lot of selection and a friendly staff. Highly recommended! read more

Just WOW, went in to get a special cake, while they were decorating it I browsed, myst have gaibed 10 pounds just visiting lol. Was my first visit, the cake was Chocolate scrumptuously delicious, the cookies to die for, the lasagna was excellent, gorgonzola cheese just like what I tasted when I went to Italy last year. I don't recommend their Tiramisu cake. I think they are using heavy cream instead of mascarpone cheese. It tastes heavy ,and far from a Tiramisu cake. Plus over priced for not using the right ingredients. read more

My boss tends to favor Italia Bakery for work events....we get pasta for the Christmas party and cakes when someone is hired or is going away. Yesterday we had a going away party and got a masterpiece of a cake made with ganache, chocolate mousse and toasted almonds with sandwiches. Why have I not been getting my lunch there for years! The cake though...ohmygosh, the cake. lush and delicious, it defies description and yet I could have written this same passage about any number of desserts I've purchased from this shop. Go for the old world ambiance and fresh breads but whatever you do....get a dessert! read more

Growing up in New Jersey we had Italian Bakeries in almost every town. However, now living in the Metro Detroit area, I have not been able to find an old school Italian Bakery (sure lots of places sell cannolis). This place is awesome. In my book, its not an Italian Bakery unless they have Sfogliatella and they have them. Pasticiotto is also a favorite on mine. They don't have this pastry, but their Ricotta Pie is close in taste, which is very good. So, this is a great find and I highly recommend it if you want old school Italian pastries. The prices are also extremely fair, with most pastries in the $2-3 range. read more
