This is a wonderful little space in the Little Village area of Detroit. Another up-and-coming space to visit. They call themselves a patisserie and they have great baked goods. It's a small coffee menu which I appreciate. The space inside is really cute with nice tables and chairs, and a fresh clean aesthetic. I got an Americano and added my own half and half. I got a pastry with a caramelized onion roasted red pepper and roasted tomato paste and a flaky puff pastry type crust. It was delicious and prices were reasonable for such a fancy item. I also used the restroom which was unisex. It was super clean inside which I appreciate at a food facility. Service was prompt and the cashier / barista was polite and nice. Came here for just some coffee but after seeing their options, we couldn't not get them. The shakshuka bun was so delicious, the flavors were super well balanced it didn't take us long for us to eat the whole thing and wish there was more. Coffee was delicious and very pretty to look at we also got a madeleine and that was a nice little treat to go along with the coffee. Not too much seating inside but we managed to sit at a bar area and it provides a good view to watch of the city. Service was really good and everything was made quickly. I came in right before closing and picked up a mango cheesecake slice plus four financiers (mango black sesame, matcha strawberry, and hibiscus passion fruit). The mango cheesecake (4.5/5) is the reason I keep coming back. It's smooth, light, and creamy, with a bright citrusy zest running through the filling. The layer of mango purée is bright and clean, and it pairs perfectly without tipping the dessert into overly sweet territory. The financiers (4/5) are also a treat! Deep brown-buttery and nutty flavor, with a tender crumb and a light fruit jelly on each that adds just the right lift and contrast. On top of it all, the service is great! I stumbled upon this little patisserie and it was filled with a unique blend of baked goods and treats. They draw from a variety of influences that came alive in things like their shashuka tart, kinako cheesecake and pandan madelines. For me, the killer was the quiche. I have never tasted a quiche like this. For the summer, they used an asparagus with some lemon. It was bright and so creamy. The egg tasted custard like and just melted on the plate. It was so good that I went back the very next day and got it again. They are making some out of this world treats that are so carefully crafted to be absolutely delicious! I stopped into Warda Patisserie on a sunny Sunday morning and even though they were busy, there still seemed to be plenty of seating. There are about five outdoor tables with a good mix of sunny spots and shade, so you can pick your vibe depending on the weather. The location itself is gorgeous and feels relaxed, perfect for a slow weekend morning. I ordered the shakshuka morning bun and an iced baklava latte, which came out to around $17 with tip. The morning bun was warm, buttery, and full of flavor and definitely something I'd get again. The iced baklava latte was delicious and had this spiced, nutty sweetness that almost reminded me of a chai latte but with its own twist. The staff was friendly and the whole place had this calm but bustling energy. You can tell a lot of thought goes into their pastries and drinks, and the flavors feel creative without being over the top. Prices are a bit higher than your average coffee-and-pastry stop, but the quality really does make it worth it. Overall, Warda is the kind of spot you could make a habit of visiting if you want something unique and a little special. I was looking for some sweets and another shop which is a favorite was not open for business on Saturday . I decided to give this place a try. I order the mango cheese , chocolate cake and I forgot the correct name for my last try. It was chocolate with caramel inside. The chocolate was not overly sweet and it had bread texture more so than cake. The presentation of the display was very appealing to the eye and not the usually bakery items. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, it was beautifully set up to display all of their food and drink options, very clean, and just a really nice and inviting atmosphere. I can see why it won James Beard award. The sweets and baked goods are very unique compare to other pastry shop/cafe. I like the little Financiers, they have little gritty texture but moist and light. it goes well with coffee. Since they won award, I expected something a bit more impressive or outstanding. I am happy for places like Warda that have receive recognition for a job well done, but it also then takes away from the specialness of bakeries. Being able to leisurely look at the offering, grab a seat in the corner and read a book, talk with friends or do work. I felt rushed in line because there was a line. Only one tiny round table was open. It was busy and disturbing if I had wanted to work or read. I went with a Entrement. The crust was my favorite part but it did not knock my socks off. The kids each had a cookie. I can appreciate the artistry and hard work that goes into each confection but as a James Beard winner, I am looking to be impressed above the look of the pastry. read more

Delicious and charming little cafe! My husband and I split a variety of goodies: a slice of pear vanilla flan, a yuzu madeleine, a chocolate and halvah cookie, and a chocolate ganache filled sable sandwich cookie. Everything was great! My favorite was probably the flan, the layer of roasted pear compote under the custard was so complex in flavor and yet subtle. Very nice. The sable sandwich cookie actually reminded me an elevated version of the E.L. Fudge cookies I loved as a kid, which was a delightful surprise. I've been a fan of Warda since I enjoyed some of their delicious baked goods at an event I went to that they participated in before they had their storefront, and I was floored by how good it was. So I was THRILLED when they announced they were opening their cafe. The location itself is perfect, as well. Everything I've had here has been aces. From fancy tarts to cookies and financiérs, flaky pastries to cheesecakes, and more. It's all been great. The coffee is also very solid. I have stopped in on more than one occasion to get some sweet treats and walked out with an iced latte because I just couldn't help myself. Though "I couldn't help myself" tends to be what I always say when I walk out with more than I had planned to get. It's all just so fantastic! The customer service was excellent and I loved the chocolate mousse that had an interesting touch of coffee flavor on top. I also thought the chocolate olive oil cake moist and unique. With that being said: everything else was incredibly underwhelming. The blueberry tart had no taste other than blueberry and the base tasted like cornflakes. The lemon tart was only okay and the cookie was stale. Unfortunately, everything shown in this picture had one bite taken out of it then wound up in the garbage. $60+ wasted. We in Detroit's environs are so very lucky to have a person and place like Warda in our midst. Such imaginative taste combinations and fresh local ingredients go into these goodies. The drinks are great too (strong coffee, sour-sweet yuzu lemonade). I ALWAYS walk out with more than I planned to get. No regrets at all! Some of my faves: the quiche (SO light and soft), any entremet, milk tea flan, the chocolate mousse, and the chocolate olive oil cake. After an early brunch, we realized that we were not done catching up so we headed to Warda for more food and conversation. I was excited to finally end up here; the bakery has been on my radar for over a year. The space has high ceilings, like most commercial places, with large windows that allow a lot of light. That, combined with the paint color and furnishings makes the place bright and airy. As soon as I entered, I was drawn to the small case of baked goods. There were fewer items available than I expected, based on all the photos on Instagram. Of course, I now realize that the menu is seasonal and therefore items change quickly. I ordered several items and enjoyed a bite each before storing everything in my fridge to enjoy throughout the week. As I sipped iced coffee, I had the Nutella-flavored maritozzo, a brioche bun filled with cream and Nutella. This was probably my least preferred item of everything I purchased. The lemon mascarpone tart was amazing. The crust stayed crispy into the second day; I appreciated the light lemon curd which was smooth and not tart. As well, the mascarpone "meringue" was oh, so creamy. What I noted about this dessert and the others I had was that it was not cloyingly sweet. The apricot and pistachio flan was fantastic. It was creamy with subtle tastes of apricot. Finally, I sampled the financiers, cakes with a coarse crumb and elegantly topped with yummy flavors. In all, this was a great visit. 2/21/2025 I stopped in Warda Patisserie to pick up a few treats. As soon as I walked in I knew I was in for something really great. The place is clean, welcoming and the staff very friendly and not too busy around the 2:30pm hour. Parking is available on the street and there is indoor seating should you decide to sit and enjoy. They have a nice selection to choose from and everything I took home was simply delicious! We will definitely come back and try other items and encourage you to stop in as well. I would suggest you get there earlier than I did (2:35pm on a Friday) because there were several empty spots in the bakery display. The prices at Warda are very reasonable for made from scratch items and not everyone will appreciate this. Warda is an absolute gem of a place. We went on a Friday morning and had such a hard time choosing what to go because everything looked amazing. There's a small seating area inside and a couple of small tables outside. The pastries were INCREDIBLE. The sweet ones were so light and sweet but not too sweet. For what we paid I thought they were going to knock my socks off but they ended up being just okay. I like that they are going for unique and tasteful. Wow, delicious pastries! I had a most delicious (Vegan) Algerian Coca which I thoroughly enjoyed. There is a small sitting area (almost all communal seats) so although it was nice to eat my warm pastry at Warda, I'm not a fan of the (low) seats and lack of private tables. I do love that they have savory pastries along with many other delicious looking sweets! I got an oatmeal cappuccino which was only so-so and the drip Lavazza coffee is a dark roast. Delectable, Dynamic, and Down to earth When you first walk into Warda Patisserie, you are delighted by the salivating smells wafting from the kitchen and the delectable arrangements of pastries, leading your eyes (and stomach) further into the shop. Feasting first, with the eyes, you will notice that the flavor combinations on the pastries are out-of-the-ordinary (with a flavor to match). For example, Ube Flan, Yuzu Mousselline, and Mango Black Sesame Financiers, to name a few. I asked the staff about the inspiration for the flavors and was informed of Warda Bouguettaya's global pastry education. I even had the opportunity to meet her, as she was standing right behind me! For being an award-winning, critically acclaimed chef, her humility and centeredness spoke loudly! I was eager to try these treats and chose an item she recommended: her Ube Flan. It was an excellent balance of flavor, not too sweet, adorned with toasted coconut, and an excellent start to my Saturday. Also, the space, although intimate and close-quarters, was not loud for a Saturday morning. Every table was filled, but people were quick to enjoy their pastries and then get on with the rest of their day. I've heard so many good things about Warda Patisserie and they've been over here winning awards left and right! I finally got to try them out a few months ago and WOW!! Even me, a person who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, found so many pastries and desserts that I wanted to buy and try! Everything I had was so good and I know that they rotate their selection pretty frequently, so I'm excited to come back here again soon to see what other new goodies they have to offer! They have a small sitting area past their pastry counter for you to sit and eat in! It's simple, chic, and modern design and very upscale to fit the vibe of Warda! It's definitely pretty small so during busier hours you might not find a spot here, but I feel as though Warda is designed for more grab and go! We only stayed here to eat our tart for about 15 minutes before we were on our way again! The person who put all my pastries in a box was super helpful as well and told me how to best store everything and which items to prioritize eating first. Loved that! Great place to visit for a catch up chatting with friend(s). The shop staffs are very friendly in a cute and livery atmosphere. Their coffee and pastries were fresh and excellent (not over sugared). Only thing is the sitting space is small with small tables and chairs even for a small & thin woman. There is a parking building with a reasonable fee is across the street from the shop. We tried the small round pastries - black sesame/mango financier. Although small, they are super sweet and can satisfy your sweet cravings. There is limited seating available inside and some small table/chairs outside. Wi-Fi is free but I wouldn't advise pulling open a laptop and working here too long due to low/knee height tables inside. Could possibly work at outside tables if weather is nice. I've been wanting to visit Warda for years but I just haven't been able to due to the limited hours. Finally this past week I was able to carve out some time to visit. When we walked in about an hour from closing, it looked like they had run out of a number of the items in the display case. Still, they had several things we wanted to try but we ended up only getting one item since we were quite full from lunch. Coconut Ube Flan ($8) - I've only had Mexican Flan before so this was a nice departure from the usual. First bite - woah, this has the perfect "not too sweet" sweetness level. The coconutty flavor is in the forefront, with the earthy ube a bit more muted in the background (interestingly enough, my partner thought that it was the opposite, with the ube more noticeable). The custard itself is rich, mixed with coconut milk and quite thick like almost halfway between a custard and cheesecake. It's not nearly as jiggly as Mexican flan. The custard is encapsulated by a very nice baked shortbread-like crust. The top of the dessert is a firmer baked layer - I don't believe there's anything specific added, but it's just the custard caramelizing into a new layer, adding a bit of a different texture. There's shaved coconut sprinkled on top to enhance the coconut flavor. The slice of flan doesn't look that big but is very filling - one slice between the two of us was enough for both to feel full afterwards. (5/5) Warda Patisserie has been racking up the awards and for good reason; the sweets here are high quality and exceptionally delicious. read more
