She also didn't try to sell me any products. I like low key and don't like the whole "spa" experience and they were nice about me skipping all the hoopla. I wish I could give more stars because I was really rooting for this place. Have been here twice. Once I paid regular price, the second time I used a groupon. Both experiences were blah. The second time I went most of the showers were out of order, then the elevator broke and my treatment got delayed about 20 minutes. I paid for an 80 minute deep tissue, but I only got 60 minutes. Ehhh....You'd think for the amount of cash you're spending here you'd receive or experience top notch service! Not so! I booked a deep tissue massage here during my honeymoon trip and it was so not relaxing! Let me say first that I'm a spa snob. I've gotten deep tissue massages numerous time and I know how they're supposed to feel. They are not supposed to hurt!!! My massage here was the most painful massage I have ever received! What made it worse was that massage room was cold and my face did not fit in the face pillow! My face practically went through the hole. Not cool! The whole experience was just uncomfortable. I usually love 90 min massages but after a couple minutes, I couldn't wait for it to be over. I agree with one of the other reviews here, the staff is not very good with the clean up in the shower area. I had to go to a few different stalls before finding a clean one. Stayed at the Marriott over the weekend. Picked up a discount on Travelzoo for the Mandara Spa. Had the Lomi Lomi Massage. Bethany was really great. Asked for medium pressure massage. She located several tense spots and worked them out. I would highly recommend this establishment. Very clean and relaxing atmosphere. Staff was professional and efficient focused on customer service. Natalia was working the front desk and was great to work with. Didn't get a chance to check out the steam room because of my schedule. However, I took a peak at the facilities and was impressed on the cleanliness. read more

I went to Maui for a friends wedding and saw a Groupon for this spa, so I bought two, each for $99 (value of $200) for each voucher. Day one: I arrived and that evening received Elemis exotic coconut rub and milk ritual wrap with 25 minute back massage as well as the Frangipani nourishing hair and scalp treatment. It was a wonderful experience. I was definitely relaxed. The rooms were really nice and the music relaxing. I didn't have time to use the other amenities. Day two: I went back in the afternoon for the Mandara Depp Tissue massage and the hot stone therapy. He did a great job with the deep tissue massage. I certainly had a lot of knots and tense spots in my back and neck. This time I arrived a little early to enjoy the steam room and relaxation room. Unfortunately those were the only amenities. We booked a couples Lomi Lomi massage on our last day. Very relaxing! The spa is very nice. We got to use the locker room which had steam room and showers before and after our massages. Our therapists did a wonderful job. We left there refreshed, relaxed and pampered. I definitely recommend it if you're staying at the Marriott. It's a bit pricey but they have a fall discount that was applied to our sessions otherwise they give you 10% off if you're a guest. read more

The Hilton Hawaiian should be ashamed to be associated with such a place as the Mandara Spa.Your staff are rude, and the prices charged for below par service are outlandish.The massage was cut short by 25 minutes and when I voiced my concern I was treated badly. I need to pre-empt this review by saying I am probably the world's biggest spa snob who wants to open her own spa one day. Depending on how you react to that statement will dictate how you internalize this review...I'm never a fan of spas inside big resorts. They attract amateurs and they include gratuity in the service because they rest their laurels on their reputation or the resort 's reputation and they don't need to go above and beyond to provide an extraordinary experience for customers. The relaxation room was anything but relaxing--hard chairs and the loudest sound of rushing water. It was impossible to relax let alone have a low-volume conversation with someone. I went in for a lomi-lomi massage (50 minutes for $150) and explicitly told the girl NOT to touch my right foot below the ankle (I had it wrapped in a bandage to emphasize avoidance). What happens in the middle of the treatment? Yep, she grabbed my foot. I about shot straight up off the table but I yelped instead and said, "OUCH! I told you to skip my damn foot." All I got was a giggle and a 'sorry.' Total dingbat. The showers and locker room were nice but the attendant was a little slow on the uptake. A few showers hadn't been tended to and towels were scattered about. So... I basically paid $170 to have someone inflict additional pain on an already-injured foot...where was the relaxation? They politely push products at the end by leaving them for you at the counter when you check out. The only good thing about this spa is they sell Elemis products--my favorite. read more

Sometimes you just want a fancy massage at a spa...and Mandara fits the bill. I had bought a Groupon and decided to use it on a 1.5 hour massage. They fit me in right away and I was placed with Becki. She's AMAZING! It's fun to go to these types of spas every once in a while, because they use all the fancy products and you smell so good afterwards. I have another Groupon to use, and I hope they can place me with Becki again! The only drawback of going to this kind of spa is the auto 20% and the base price is quite high...so overall I had to pay an additional $60 on top of the $99 I had already paid for the Groupon. Still saved $100, and I got to use the spa facilities before and after - fun! I parked at the shopping center, because I wasn't sure if they validated parking spots or not, so be prepared to either walk from the shopping center or pay $5 for parking, if you are not already a guest there. I was in one of the inner rooms, and not in the corner room which overlooks the pool. I've been in that room and not only does it get noisy from the pool and Luau, but the sun setting will seep through the blinds...but it is a gorgeous view if you want the windows open. Receptionist was very nice and didn't really try to push the products to me at the end, even though I bought one anyway. read more

I went in for a manicure before booking more extensive treatments and wound up leaving it at that. The service was extremely perfunctory, far less pampering than a manicure at my local nail salon and the environment was not as luxurious but the price tag was triple! Based on that experience I did not go back for anything else. I was in and out in 20 minutes and sent on my way with wet nails. Very unprofessional though the technician was nice enough. read more

I feel ripped off. Ordered an "add-on" 20 minute hair and scalp treatment to the 50minute massage. Instead of adding it on, they detracted it from the 50 minute massage so I lost money and valuable massage time PLUSthe masseuse was rushing through the whole massage and made me never feel relaxed. I'll never go back and everyone should be very careful when deciding on their services. I had called to discuss several options and at no time did the receptionist mention the add-on was an add-in and not a seperate treatment. read more

This Spa is high class treatment all the way. I scheduled a massage while visiting Maui, and it was a 5 star experience from the moment I arrived at the Mandara Spa. The staff was incredibly friendly and exemplified a genuine aloha mentality. The massage was the BEST that I have ever experienced. The atmosphere in the room was and the massage itself was incredibly relaxing. The amenities in the women's locker room were so amazing that it was hard to leave after using the steam room, relaxing in the relaxation room, and then showering in the spa showers. The products provided smelled delightful and the lotions worked wonders on my sunburned back. This spa is so amazing that it provides an open door policy, so after you initially check in, you are welcome to revisit the locker room amenities at anytime throughout your stay on Maui. I plan on revisiting this spa for my next visit and then once a month after I move to Maui.. it is that amazing and truly captivates the paradise feel of Maui. read more

I came the spa because of the Groupon deal. Maybe I use the groupon deal, so I was getting the discounted service. But the spa would still demanding you to pay at least 20% tip and taxes based of the regular price disregard your satisfactory. The spa facilities was so so, not impressive but has the basic amenities, including locker room, steam and dry saunas, shower, vanity, restroom and relaxing room. The massage was good BUT the masseuse (Shannon) didn't do a full 50 mins as she came to look for me 2-3 mins after the appointment (4:00pm) and still finished at 4:50pm, which included switching between the rooms and myself preparation. The reason I had to change the room is cuz she initially put me at the couple massage room which I don't feel private and cozy as the room is much bigger with winders all around and I felt too bright. However the room would be perfect if you come for couple retreat as the room has two massage beds, partial ocean-view, mini amenities includes bathtub, shower and basic vanity inside the room. But according to other reviews that you as a couple, besides massage, won't get to use these facilities and enjoy the view inside the room. Therefore, I would not recommend this spa and massage. read more

I recently had a shellac manicure here, and I've had a way better experience at my local nail salon. My nails were filed unevenly, the shellac polish was on my skin and the kicker was that the shellac was lifting after 2 days! For the price of the shellac manicure ($75 - $60 manicure, $12 mandatory gratuity and $3 service charge), I was hoping for a pampering and luxurious experience. The massage and scrub were both very good. The amenities were just okay. There was only a steam room, no hydrotherapy or mud bar like some of the area spas. The space was very clean and the staff was helpful. Pricing was comparable to most hotel spas, but with a Groupon I was able to get a discounted combo package! read more
