I decided, at the last minute, to book a relaxing massage while staying at the Andaz. I may have gotten the last appointment available for the day, so be sure to book in advance. I appreciated that there were not a lot of people around while I was relaxing in the area. My spa attendant, Shine, was a sweetheart. She was incredibly friendly and helpful. She definitely enjoys working there. I was checked in immediately when I arrived and was put right at ease. The place is like any spa in that there were many items for sale in the lobby and once you get to the back, you put your things away and take it easy. CJ was my massage therapist and while I don't typically choose a male therapist, I was happy not to have had a choice because he was amazing. I have felt great for days. I highly recommend you request CJ. I also like to chat when I have a massage, and he was a very good conversationalist. Good chat and relaxing massage to work every thing out. Omgggg I loved this spa.. I was staying at a different hotel that had a significantly more expensive massage so saw this place had great reviews and so glad I came here. Enjoyed a very good 60 minute couples massage at Awili with Susan and Julia (?). The massage had an ocean view- though admittedly you're face down most of the time so the views don't do a heap lol. We appreciated how both masseuses checked in to confirm the pressure level. Pricey $$$$ but they do include all day use of the spa area which was a nice plus. The spa had a jacuzzi pool, sauna and separate steam room and was very empty when we visited. This was the absolute most perfect way to spend my last day in Maui. I called last minute to see if they had any massages available for my husband and I, they did. The lady I spoke to was so nice and took her to time to explain the amenities and took down my info. We were able to use the pool dedicated to the spa and had access to the other amenities like showers, steam room, sauna, lockers, etc. The location is absolutely stunning and everything is super clean. All the staff were so friendly. The massages were amazing and so relaxing. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a great spa experience and loved that we were able to enjoy several hours of this beautiful spa. Will be back next time I'm in Maui. read more

I loved loved loved my experience at Awili spa. I've never been to a luxury spa before or even had a full body massage so this was such an experience. I don't think I'm ever going to be able to top this. First off, masks on at all times (except in the jacuzzi and/or sauna I believe) so great covid protocols. There's a changing room, showers, and bathroom inside the spa as well. I had a fully body 60 min massage (starts at $195) and they included a 20% tip so it came out to about $240/person, but it was so amazing and I felt like it was totally worth the money and I'd 100% do it again if I were in Maui/Andaz again. My masseuse was very gentle with me and kept me comfortable and covered the entire time which I really appreciated. Just overall a relaxing and comfortable experience for me. I researched almost all the spa facilities in Maui to find a location that met all our needs for a bachelorette spa getaway. We wanted a facility that had a cabana, spa pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Surprisingly, most spa facilities didn't have most of these amenities. Awili Spa checked all the boxes, gave access to the fitness studio, and is located near the beach where we walked along during our spa day. The Awili Spa was immaculate, beautiful, luxurious, and relaxing. The massage therapists were highly skilled and each of us enjoyed our spa treatments. The spa provided EVERYTHING you can think of, hair brushes, toothbrush, even down to disposable panties! The spa pool was an adult only infinity pool. What brought our experiences to the highest level was the staff! The staff here are the friendliest and helpful people! Alexis ("Lexi") the salon lead was tremendously accommodating and communicated every step of the way. She went above and beyond to make our experience extra special!! Joey, our food server, was attentive and down to earth. The staff helping with the towels and pool station were particularly outgoing and fun! I believe their names were Jonathan and Jimmie? I wish we caught them before their shift ended to thank them for their assistance! Will definitely come back again and again and again!! read more

Lovely spa experience. My husband and I came here the day after our wedding to relax. We booked a couple's massage in a room that has a view of the ocean. I thought it would feel a little more like we were outside, but not really. If you have a service booked, you can use the facilities all day. Unfortunately, because this is a European style type of spa (meaning you can walk around nude if you want), there isn't a co-ed hot tub or sauna. Rather, men and women have their own in each locker room. Since the hubs and I wanted to spend some time together before our massage, we ended up using the tranquility pool outside for a bit beforehand. Right before your massage, you can wait in the co-ed relaxation room which is equipped with comfortable seating, blankets, privacy curtains, water and snacks. We each had a masseuse that did a fantastic job. I have deep knots in my back and shoulders and my masseuse did a great job working those out and putting me into such a deep relaxation that I nodded off once or twice. Overall, if you're looking for a relaxing vacation, making a trip to Awili spa definitely helps. read more

She's 17 so she wasn't allowed in any of the facilities, but the facilities were sub par at best. Included a "hot plunge" aka hot tub and a sauna and steam room that weren't any better than my local Y. We had a 90 min deep tissue each, which must've ended early because I did all different things in the locker room and showered and was out at 90 min. $850 - again, not worth it. The woman put a ton of cold thick oil in my hair but didn't really massage, just rub it into my hair, no pressure point, just terrible. My hairdresser is way better. So disappointing. My daughter reserved an appointment for hair and makeup on her wedding day for her (the bride), me (the mother of the bride) and the grooms mother. We all thought that the result of having these services would be very special for a very special day that would be remembered for life in photos and video. The experience was so far from what was expected that it would take quite awhile to explain every detail for each one of us. My experience is as follows. I came into the salon directly from using the sauna and the heated pool. I took a quick shower before the treatments were to begin. I didn't wash my hair assuming it would be done in the salon. When I sat down in the chair, the hairdresser asked me what I wanted my hair , I told her to make it special for the wedding. She started trying different things with my hair. She didn't wash it , she teased a little and put thickening powder in it and then put the top portion of hair in a tight ponytail . The bottom hair needed trimming which I told but she didn't trim it. She got some flowers and put them in the ponytail. That was it. Then when we went to makeup. I expected that my face would be washed as I still had makeup on from the beginning of the day. When I told her she just wiped off my face with water and a towelette. She worked on my makeup for awhile and my daughter came in for her treatment and saw me and wondered why I hadn't done anything yet, hair or makeup. I told her I was finished. I made it seem as though I was fine with it because there was no time to do anything else and I certainly wasn't going to get her upset on her wedding day. I needed to leave to attend to other details for the wedding while she was getting her hair and makeup done. When I returned to pick her up she was not finished yet and was having to talk her hairdresser and makeup artist through every step of the process. The didn't wash her hair either. The grooms mother canceled her makeup portion when she saw what they were doing to me. So the cost of getting a ponytail and some unrecognizable makeup was $200. + Needless to say, the wedding pictures show a mother who didn't do anything special for her daughter's wedding. Overall the whole experience could have been better. I didn't find the 'extra' amenities to be relaxing or enjoyable and as a whole, the spaces were quite small (though it was not crowded). The hotel is beautiful and grounds were impeccable, so this felt extra odd. The locker I was directed to was already in use. The cleanliness could have majorly been improved throughout (cups/trash left in the waiting room, a handprint smudged on the wall, my first robe I was given was stained, just to name a few specific examples). My esthetician was tardy and I had to go out into the Spa lobby to check. My service started around 10-15 minutes late. I received a Hydra-facial (my first time) and while the service was enjoyable and the results were fantastic, I didn't feel any warmth (or explanation on my service - she knew this was my first Hydra-facial) from my esthetician (I can't recall her name - this service was in April) - to the point I would have adjusted the tip if it had not been automatically applied. Only reason that I came to this spa was because we received spa credit for staying at the Andaz. The facility was extremely nice and very tranquil. When you check in there are a couple of people who escort you to the ladies locker rooms and show you the facilities. They have showers, hot tub, sauna, and steam room. The thing is, when you are pregnant, besides the showers, there isn't much that I was able to use. The spa was quite quiet. Around my appointment time, you walk into this zen room and await for your masseuse or esthetician. My massage room was really big..the best thing about Andaz's prenatal massage? The fact that they have a pillow where you can lie belly down!!! The massage was excellent and quite relaxing. A pet peeve of mine is when a masseuse asks you where your problem areas are and then don't really work "more" on the problem areas. So my verdict is, if you are staying at the Andaz and don't want to leave the resort and have credit I say go for it. Otherwise, you may be better at other places. read more

I was a little worried at first when my husband called to make reservations for myself and MIL with front desk Sara(h). He chose a hot stone massage, scalp massage, and pedicure package called the Balance Package ($440/person). He was immediately up-sold to a full body wrap/scrub and pedicure (I was told $750/person and my husband was told $575/person or so...and totally not the services we wanted... especially since this was MIL's first time and she's shy.) I called back to clarify what was going on and was told this was a "new" balance package and we were looking at old collateral. This was weird because we got that PDF straight off their current website. After Sara(h) heard we got this info off the current website there was a bit of pause and we got set up with exactly what we wanted. My husband though ended up feeling a little taken advantage of like a woman at a car repair shop and that sucks a little because that could make him less likely to set us up so nicely like he did this time...which I so appreciate because that was an amazing surprise for sure!!! The spa itself was immaculate. Clean, gorgeous and empty! The amenities were amazing (shortbread cookies were recommended by the pedicurist and she was spot on!) The hot stone massage by Eric, OMG. Relaxing, perfect energy, totally balancing for sure. The head cradle was comfy and the bed moved like a hospital bed on steroids so I didn't have to move for any bolsters under my knees like most places. Eric was respectful, quiet, and so so so amazing. He put so many nice hot towels on my head, neck, feet and back that I lost count. And the foot scrub and hand massage was to die for. I can see why everyone raves about Eric on Yelp. Totally exceeded my expectations and great, professional, non skebe energy too! I was so so relaxed my voice was froggy and I had a hard time walking out of the room. By far, Awili Spa on the Andaz Hotel was the best experience and massage ever and I've had a lot because it takes a lot of self care to balance out my work. Thank you Eric and everyone at Awili Spa. Everyone here is very well-trained from the receptionist, the spa attendant, and the actual beauty technicians. The only reason I did not give five stars is because the facilities were kind of basic with a steam room, sauna, and hot tub. For Maui, IMO the Wailea spa feels a bit more grand, but then again I was a teenager the last time I went there and I wasn't as spoiled as I am now. What really impressed me was that I had lost two items of jewelry I got for my mother, and a friend, and they called me the next day to have it arranged to be sent back to me! So I am a regular here ( on special occasions) and can say it is the best spa in Wailea.. don't even bother with the others. This is the only spa here that offers outdoor access to a no kid infinity pool and excellent lunch by the pool after your wonderful treatment. It is well appointed with tasteful island modern decor and a very friendly staff of warm professional people. They also have a fantastic extra large whirlpool , sauna, steam room and a gym.. plus there are no time limits ( unlike the grand Wailea which has no pool or outdoor area and puts a time limit on the Disney world like jacuzzi area which badly needs cleaning and remodel and is very crowded) The spa at Andaz is so clean and I have never had a bad experience ( I usually get a massage). Every moment of the last 5 days at the Andaz resort I have felt extremely pampered, except the two hours I just spent at this spa. The spa itself is basic, but well kept. I had a couples massage with my boyfriend. While he was very happy with his service, mine was underwhelming. I have massages 6-10 times a year and this one was not impressive. For the price, I certainly had expected more. I wanted to make up for the massage by trying to enjoy the steam room and jacuzzi afterwards, but was met with a large group of loud drunk girls taking selfies for the hour before the spa closed. Needless to say, the entire experience was less than relaxing. I told the girl at check out about my time and she said "well, it sounds like you got the Maui experience!" My favorite spa in Waliea. I love the spa ambiance (Japanese style) and the staff are wonderful! I have had both a facial and massage and I leave rejuvenated every time. Awili Spa popped my "spa day" cherry and it felt sooo good! Here's my take on the spa from a guy's perspective. My friend and I were on Maui for a spring break staycation of rest, relaxation and lots of hiking. We had five hikes planned, but didn't know how we'd accomplish the R&R. Luckily, the Andaz Maui has one of the best spas on the island! Reservations: The online reservation system is convenient, but it showed that the services I wanted to book were not available in our free time. Just as I was about to resign myself to the fact that a spa afternoon was not going to happen, I came up with the genius idea to call the spa directly. The spa was able to schedule a pedicure and a couples massage back-to-back in the narrow window we had between checking in and our dinner reservation. SO grateful that they were able to do what the online robots could not--accommodate us! Pre-Treatments: Walking into the lobby of the spa hit all my holistic pleasure points--amber bottles, herb concoctions and mostly natural products were displayed on shelves and tables. Once you check in at the front counter, you're escorted back into the men's changing room. You're given a locker, a luxurious robe and bath slippers. I highly recommend arriving early so that you can utilize the whirlpool, steam room or dry sauna. We used the steam room for ten minutes and thoroughly enjoyed it. I liked that they infuse essential oils into the steam for an additional boost of relaxation and respiratory system cleansing. If you prefer not to imbibe just yet, you can change into a robe, sit in a dimly lit waiting room and snack on cookies, dried mango and fruit-flavored water. Pedicure: I exercise, hike and generally beat up my feet on the regular, so I was super self conscious about having anyone touch my feet. I was so sure that the aestheticians would see my feet and immediately give me a refund, but they were super kind! They moved seamlessly from soaking to clipping to shaving to buffing to exfoliating. Time flew by as we talked about living on Maui, what it's like training to be an aesthetician and what they recommended we do while on island. The 45-minute session flew by, and before we knew it, our feet were manly-pretty, super smooth and honestly probably a lot lighter after they sloughed off pounds of callus skin. (Sorry for the visual!) Massage: As a guy who isn't used to being pampered and primped, I was a little unsure about the massage. The masseuses came to pick us up from the waiting room and walked us down a hall to the couples massage room. They left us to remove our robes and get onto the massage tables under a sheet. Was I supposed to remove my underwear or keep it on? I opted to keep it on for modesty's sake. The masseuses came back in and got to work. They started off using their hands, but it wasn't long before I felt like there was an octopus giving me a massage Half of me was totally relaxed and the other half was completely interested in feeling the path of her arms, elbows and palms. I ended up falling into a deep sleep, and I'm pretty sure I snored, but they woke me up gently and I stumbled out of the room with a silly grin on my face. I wish I could've bottled that sense of euphoria so that I'd be able to take a whiff of it when I'm in the real world. After the treatments, we went back to the locker room, changed, checked out and went upstairs to get ready for dinner. My only regret from the day is that you're allowed to use the facilities for the day of your treatment, and I really would've made better use if we had the time. Other than that, I would highly recommend Awili Spa to all the guys out there looking for a little TLC. They say you never forget your first, and I'll never forget my experience at Awili Spa at the Andaz! read more
