I just had the nastiest/most grimy experience from this place. I am beyond furious and disappointed because it's one of our family local favorites for their salt & pepper chicken wings. I had ordered a couple trays of wings for dinner and my brother-in-law had placed his phone down while picking up the food at the counter and mistakenly forgot to pick up his phone when he picked up the food. We got home and ate, after realizing he couldn't find his phone anywhere in the house nor car. Tracked it to locate it was at the location we bought food from. After 45 minutes of looking around the bushes, retracing our steps, asking employees at the businesses around and no one has "seen it". We're playing the sound from Find My Iphone and as soon as we're about to give up... mind you we parked on the main street so we're near their back door where the employees are able to take out the trash... We play the sound again and sure enough our ears are right by their open gated back door and can CLEARLY hear the ding. I'm banging on the door to let me in to find where the sound is coming from and everyone is just staring at me not trying to open the door. I'm screaming "I CAN HEAR THE PHONE, LET ME IN". SURE ENOUGH THE PHONE WAS IN ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES PERSONAL BAG!!! Next time ask all your employees so I don't have to walk in the back of the kitchen to find it in an employers bag... I think i'll be making a trip to Royal Mandarin from now on lol *In response to the owner* Whether if the owner didn't take the phone, it's still one of your employers that work under your business. And you can't sit there and tell me that you asked your employers if they found a phone and told you no, because you were with my brother-in-law (the customer who was searching for his phone) the whole time looking for it outside. So as far as I know, you didn't leave to go in the back to ask if anyone found a phone. Yes, i'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were being helpful and helping us search, but if we're showing you the location and the pin point of where the phone is located through Find My Iphone and it's located somewhere in your restaurant... then it's somewhere in your restaurant! And there's no way you could've went to the back to ask your other employers if they found an iphone because it never stopped ringing from the missed calls we were leaving it and the ping sound from the feature on Find My Iphone. We're lucky that we had found it on our own... unfortunately in the manner that we did, but you and your business is more than lucky the police weren't involved. So as I make this review and new customers are looking for some salt & pepper chicken wings. Make a trip out of it and go down to Otay Manadrin across Southwestern College or Royal Mandarin in National City. read more

Portions are huge. I ordered 3 entrees and a bowl of soup thinking that would be just enough for 2 people to eat for lunch, plus leftovers for dinner. It turns out we will have enough food for a couple of days. We're in the pandemic right now, so the restaurant is only offering pick up orders which, for me, was ready in 15 minutes. Perfect timing. I immediately knew I ordered too much when the cashier brought my food out braced by a cardboard tray underneath. I literally needed two hands to carry out my carryout. LOL! We got home and immediately started to tackle our feast of a meal. We started with the Wonton Soup which was filled with wontons and perfect for this chilly day. Next were the Salted Pepper Tofu. Little crispy cubes of tofu, seasoned with that salty peppery goodness that we know so well from the chicken wings. A single order can serve at least 4 people. We were pretty full by this point, but we still had to try the Beef Chow Fun and the Sweet and Sour Pork. Both were delicious, but I preferred the noodle dish. The takeout carton was packed with those delicious fat noodles and slices of tender beef. I would've liked to see more beef, but I seriously had so much food, I'm not complaining by any means. The pork got a touch soggy by the time we got home, but that's just one of the downfalls of takeout and this pandemic. I long for the day we can dine in again and enjoy food at its freshest. I'll definitely be back at Mandarin Beijing. So many dishes to try! read more

Man I am so disappointed in this place. Let me make it clear, I have never tried their food and after tonight I more than likely will never return. My review is SOLELY based on their awful customer service. So here I am with my family looking to get some food and we figure we'd give this place a shot. The minute I walked up to the door to order, two male employees made eye contact with me and rushed to the back of the business. What the heck are you for real?! All I said was, Hello. It was obvious they didn't want to take my order, probably because it was 30 minutes before closing time or maybe this is their regular service? Regardless, it is unacceptable. Take my advice: Save you and your family from any embarrassment and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Don't give these people a dime. I have been coming here since it opened and although the earlier reviews were correct about the the lady working front of house and answering the phone, they have someone much kinder now. We always get their salt and pepper chicken wings which I think are more flavorful than Otay Mandarin's. They have more scallions and chile. So I've come here a few times already... This spot is a little hidden... A clean, small restaurant with a decent amount of tables and chairs. Prices are fair and the portions are HUGE. this place is pretty good if you're looking for a place a bit less hectic. (I have only gone here during lunch hours, not yet at dinner time) I don't usually order orange chicken at other places, but it has actually become a regular for us when we come here. The sauce is not too overbearing, just sweet enough. The breading remains relatively crispy, and the chicken is white meat. I'm also a fan of their crispy noodles. Thin crispy noodles in a light brown sauce with meats and veggies. Flavorful, not too salty. The s&p chicken wings were ok. Not quite as much flavor as other places, but still decent. Customer service is typical of any Chinese restaurant, they were fine with us and helpful. I have no complaints from our own experience.. But on 2 separate occasions, I did observe one lady acting a bit crass with customers ordering for take out. Other than that, I'd say the food here is pretty good. Off day at the restaurant. 1. Ordered the sizzling rice soup. Was a bit thrown off by how much stuff was in the mix. Bok choy, spinach, shiitake mushrooms (which I don't like), shrimp, squid, carrots, and chicken. The mix didn't quite work and the mushrooms and squid gave off a strong aroma. Everything was large cut and I found it strange that I'm eating soup with a fork. 2. Ordered chicken with snow peas. Taste was good with the snow peas being nice and crisp still. Problem was that there was too much of it and we were hunting for chicken. 3. We did not order the brown rice which our waitress brought with the food. We asked for white rice. We ended up getting charged for the "extra." Not cool. It's still a good place and we really love the salted pepper tofu and pan fried noodles but today was just a disappointment. read more

I have been buying to go from here since I moved in the neighborhood in 2015. They are always generous with the amount of shrimp in the fried rice and the shrimps are large. Their price is always reasonable and I love their chicken salt pepper wings. It's one of the best I had and have in my books. Glad a Chinese restaurant with decent food opened up in this neighborhood. It is in the same shopping center as Von's and In and Out; for some reason, the Yelp map shows it in an incorrect location. It is on the street side next to El Michoacano. Anyway, this new year's eve found this place packed with both sit=down and to=go customers. We were seated fairly promptly but it took several minutes before our server could see us because she was taking care of customers that arrived earlier. The menu contained a variety of items that are more commonly found in Chinatown area restaurants. Sadly, they couldn't make any of the hot pot dishes, which I wanted to order. So, we had: -Fried Tofu (appetizer)-large serving, you definitely need to add seasoning (they recommended soy sauce) -Walnut Shrimp-They batter and deep fry the shrimp before making the dish -Salt and Pepper Chicken Wings - It was called "Salted Chicken Wings" and was good -Sauteed Snow Peas - Sauteed with onions, bamboo shoots. 'Twas good. I forgot to order rice, but our waitress brought white rice out with our dishes. Awesome! To top it off, we received a 2012 wall calendar with our fortune cookies! read more
