My husband and I were looking for some good comfort food on a snowy night tonight. We had never heard of Mandarin Chef Express but after looking at an old version of their menu we thought we would give it a shot. A tiny hole in the wall off Astrozon and Chelton, it didn't seem like much and we wrinkled our nose at the dinner prices (lunch is super cheap on the other hand!). Well, we put our money where our mouth was and it was 100% worth it! Please visit this place and keep them open. It's family run by the kindest people. We ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and spicy Chicken curry, both with fried rice. 8.5/10 will definitely be eating from here again. (Please excuse my hodge podge plating haha. I was very excited.)

This food is gross, I got chicken wings and teriyaki chicken. I recommend not eating here if you want good tasting food worth your money. Also lo mein noodles look like fettuccine not what you'd expect. Very good customer service and nice people but $32 for This food is robbery. Teriyaki chicken looks good tastes like it was boiled in dirty dishwater and then seasoned

Mandrin Chef, the best sesame chicken in the Springs!!! I've been here since 95 and have yet to find anything that's even close. Their fried chicken wings are also the bomb! Now I won't pretend that it's the most visually appealing, unlike the fancy overpriced ones trying to impress and be authentic looking. It is somewhat a "hole in the wall". But what it lacks in decoration, is nothing compared to how wonderful this dish is. The exterior is crispy, not soggy, and the chicken is tender and juicy, not over cooked. The sauce is perfect, the way sesame chicken should taste. So if you like good sesame chicken and don't mind the look of the restaurant, then this is the place. And if you can't, they have take out and delivery . If you can find something better let me know! Rich.

Best orange chicken in town! I have been visiting this location for almost 4 years and never fails to amaze me. The interior is a little run down, but don't be fooled by looks. I've tried about half of their menu. Some of my favorites include the beef and broccoli, the shrimp stir fry and the orange chicken. The portions are big and they have good prices. Delivery is an option as well if you are within the grid area. Unfortunately I moved so it's no longer an option for me. But when I lived around, delivery was fast and my food was always hot! In addition, The service is always warm and welcoming, I almost feel like family when I go in there! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great food.

Sucker for torture? Thats what you'll get here if you like their food. When I first started ordering from this place it seemed to go ok the first couple times but ever since then its been nothing but a nightmare with deliveries that never showed up to deliveries that took over an hour to get here and then they disagree with the time frame until you show them what time you actually called. Another order that was delivered when I asked for carry out and told that only when i got there to pick it up. The final straw came right after finding a screw in my food. Didnt even try to call them... just will never, ever go back. It wouldnt do any good to complain anyway because they simply dont care. They didnt care about the last issues they caused so why bother? Stay far away from this place unless you like a restaurant that has no customer service and does nothing but shrug their shoulders when there is an issue. Just plan on having an issue if you do order so youre not disappointed when it happens. Dont get screwed like I did.... See pics

Easy ordering, quick delivery, large portions! Would have got fives stars if there had actually been filling in the crab cheese wontons and pineapple in the S&S Chicken.

    Gross egg rolls

I think this is about the worst Oriental food I've ever tasted. I don't know what was in those eggrolls or maybe they were not cooked thoroughly but it was gross and slimy. The rice was hard and the orange chicken was very poorly prepared. Thanx for ripping me off!

Bland tasteless and expensive, I'm 1 and done. Avoid not worth it. I've had better but not worse than this place.

**Ambiance** The…read morerestaurant itself is a decent size with plenty of seating and large booths, so it would be comfortable for families or larger groups. **Service** Service was great. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and welcoming. The staff spoke English as well as either Cantonese or Mandarin, which initially gave me high hopes for the food. **Food** I won't lie--I came in with pretty moderate expectations. After chatting with the staff in both Mandarin and Cantonese, I thought we were in for a really authentic meal. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. We ordered five dishes, and it quickly became apparent that the food is heavily catered toward American tastes. Several dishes contained ingredients that traditionally wouldn't be included, while other key ingredients were missing altogether. The biggest issue for me was the sweetness. Three of the five dishes were noticeably sweet, which isn't what I expected from the dishes we ordered. The standout dish of the meal was the Mongolian Beef. It was flavorful and wasn't overly sweet. That said, it lacked the spice I typically associate with the dish. The Mapo Tofu was probably the biggest surprise. It was missing the ground pork that usually gives the dish so much flavor and texture. Instead, it included bell peppers, onions, and water chestnuts--ingredients I've personally never seen in Mapo Tofu. Rather than being spicy and numbing, the dominant flavor was sweetness. The Chicken Pan-Fried Noodles were difficult to enjoy. The sauce was very sweet, and the noodles were cooked to the point where they were tough and chewy. Instead of the thinner noodles commonly used for this dish, they used thick noodles that reminded me more of lo mein. We also ordered a Beef and Scallion dish. It felt more like a beef chop suey variation with scallions added. The scallions themselves were cooked perfectly, but once again the sauce leaned much sweeter than expected. The Hot and Sour Soup was actually the first item to arrive. I jokingly told my family that if the soup wasn't good, I might be worried about the rest of the meal because hot and sour soup is one of those dishes that really showcases balance and technique. Unfortunately, it ended up confirming my concerns. It lacked the bold sour and spicy flavors that make the dish so enjoyable. By the end of the meal, we had a lot of leftovers. The only items we brought home were the Mongolian Beef and a few pieces of beef picked out from the Beef and Scallion dish. **Overall** This restaurant may appeal to diners who enjoy sweeter, Americanized Chinese food, but it wasn't for me. Based on this visit, I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't personally recommend it to anyone looking for the flavors and dishes I grew up eating.

It was 98-100 degrees and really think we should of chose a different place after our experience and lack of customer service here. Parking was $1.50 per hour (First 2 hours) and then goes up per hour on the side street in front of this establishment. When you walk in, the place looks cute but after wandering around, it needs a deep cleaning and dusting. Our table was sticky, floors dirty. If you sit at the tables, you have to take your shoes off. There is no clear direction of what to do. We waited and I believe the owner came out and asked if we had reservations. There was no one in there, two women were seated at the regular tables. Also, you are charged $5 per person for this "tea ceremony" which is basically the other worker pouring hot water in the tea pot. So you get one tea choice per person. My nephew wanted cold tea aka their boba. He asked for a Mango slush boba but got watery straight milk tea that was inedible. We asked if he could switch out for another drink but they said No! If he wanted another drink, they would charge another $6 which the lady said was $5 if you got cold or hot. As a business owner, if someone asks for another option, customer service would be to either take it off the tab or offer to remake it correctly. The dim sum was edible but not really. Hearing microwave beeps. They came out hot but I don't know how fresh. I guess coming from Denver, we have real dim sum on carts and CO Springs is just a weird city with essentric taste buds. All the places we ate at were not great but Yelp reviews had 4-5 stars for them. Also, the way the place is set up, we heard all of our tea server's convo's. I won't mention what we heard but definately not what you want to listen to. Pictures attached and trust me look better than what they tasted. Taro buns were the only thing we liked. I am confused how people like this place. Neat concept but needs a lot of work and cleaning.
