Five stars because this was excellent, non-greasy Chinese takeout food, just what we needed during a overnight in Page, AZ to see the Antelope Canyons, and absolutely good value for its price point -- which in my book deserves more than the current consensus of 2.5 stars. My family is from Taiwan and live in the SF Bay Area so we definitely know our Asian food, but we did not walk in expecting perfect flavors or precise authenticity; we just wanted to eat something with more veggies than what we could find in the rest of Page (lots of fast food joints and Tex-Mex BBQ/American places). We were happy to find that the owner is also Taiwanese (has been running the place in Page for 16 years) and the menu offered plenty of options at reasonable prices. We wound up getting the Braised Tofu, Mixed Vegetables, Orange Chicken with broccoli, a Beef Onion Scallion dish (蔥爆牛肉), and the House Special Chow Mein. Every dish came with veggies sautéed in, and NOTHING was at all overly oily or salty (very important to us!). If we had dined in the spacious, well-lighted restaurant, I think we would've enjoyed the buffet (only $10.99!) but we were just too tired from a long day of touristing and wanted to unwind in our hotel room. If there is a -5 star I even will put it. the food was not really good, flies everywhere on food on buffet. the most horrible thing, the waiter was very rude with my kids, they only 6 and 4 years and she took the chopsticks from them very rudely. the boss was the rudest restaurant manager that I ever seen in my whole life, when my husband was discussing about why he charged the kids because he even charged for my infant son less than 2 years, he was vey rude, he took the debit card to charge and throw it back into my brother in low face, when my husband ask him to smile for customers he said don't come again to my place and just leave. We left and he came back again was yelling and used the middle finger. He said come to fight if you want and a lot of bad words, all that and the kids were watching and crying because of his bad behavior. This is a good place to fill your stomach if you are very hungry, but eating here can only be considered tolerable, not pleasurable. The tables are sticky, service is rather curt, and the food is rather watery. There is also no other fruit than brown-looking orange slices, unlike most other buffets. If I could make a negative review, I would do it. The food in this restaurant wasn't very delicious, and there's only a few types to choose from. Plus, the receive wasn't detailed. They only gave me the total amount of money that I need to pay. We also added tips. When we got home, I went on this restaurant's website to check out the price. We found out that they had added a 20% tips to each person. We didn't know that they had already added tips because they only gave us the total price, and we paid extra tips. This made me very mad because they didn't give us a detailed receive, and the food wasn't as good as I thought. The food was definitely not worth the price that I had paid. As a local, I visit the Mandarin frequently. The owner has never been anything but friendly and accommodating, and the food is delicious. I recommend the dinner buffet, because that's when they bring out the sesame chicken -- my favorite! They have a good variety of choices, the food is yummy, and the service is great! read more

As an international tourist who has eaten more Chinese food than most, it is no overstatement that this place is quite literally the WORST Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. I don't usually write reviews, but in this case I almost feel obliged to warn others. For this place to label itself "Gourmet" is a joke. Indeed, this restaurant actually became a running joke of ours for the rest of our holiday. We arrived fairly late around 8:30pm, service had died down, so we tossed the dice and decided to try this place. When we entered, the grumpy old owner clearly looked like he didn't want us there, watched tv the whole time on his ipad, and shouted across the room at his staff to make him dinner. And to top it all off he came talking to us with his mouth wide open, chewing food in our faces.The waiter at least seemed friendly, though I get the impression he may not have received any of the enforced tips. Because the buffet looked practically cold and dead, we chose from the menu. We had mushu beef, and several other choices. The dish size was surprisingly generous, but we quickly discovered the food was as bad as the service. The meat was chewy and had a really strange texture, like it was really old or badly stored, and we spent the rest of the night picking around at the vegetables (which were edible, if that is any consolation). No joke, we were thankful the next morning we weren't food poisoned. So basically, if you like large portions of crap that you probably wont want to finish, maybe consider this place (Really though, save yourself the pain and avoid at all costs). It was typical unauthentic, westernised Chinese food, which in itself isn't a too bad a thing, but when it is prepared so poorly you might as well choose Panda Express. How this place hasn't already gone out of business baffles me. I guess it just serves up s*** to unknowing tourists like us who go in and out through revolving doors. One of my concerns of Chinese buffet is the amount of salt used. This place certainly is not salty in comparison which is great. Terrible hospitality!! Rude hosts! stinky bathroom! Go only if you want to get yelled at and also want to get sick. So we went in with two kids. First no one came for about 10 minutes for seating. Then we asked for 4 adult buffet only. They looked annnoyed as to why our kids are not eating. Besides the food being COLD the husband and wife owners treated their employees (Navajo) horribly! As soon as our group sat down you couldn't help but notice the husband scrutinizing every move the wait staff made. And while we were eating his wife came out from the back room and talked to her employees like they were slaves! The ultimate was seeing the tip our tables had left picked up by the staff and taken directly to the owner! I would NEVER recommend this restaurant. The director of the group I was with is going to contact the owner but, after my experience, don't think much will change. This probably is the worst experience I ever had. My husr and I arrived at page around 8:10pm local time, then find this place for possible Chinese or Korean food. I checked the restaurant operating hour is till 9:30, so I went for a meal. I asked the man at the counter see if the restaurant is still open, he said yes period. Still nobody send us to any table, finally, probably the boss lady saw me, she was sweeping the floor at the time, she did not come to greet us, just pointing at a table and said that table.
