A great home feeling restaurant with Asian flair. It was great eating outside and the kids can play in the green little backyard patio seating. Three star reviews: I understand the 3 star reviews some folks have provided. Compared to big city locations it might be below some expectations. But, the food was very good compared to other restaurants in the area we went to. My review: I give it a five star because the food was tasty, the view was great and it was laid back. I'm pretty critical and straight forward in my reviews and I gave "sunset 89" - 5 stars. Was it the best place I've eaten and experienced -no. But for the area and our vacation - it was the best place we ate at. Normally: If this was a place in my hometown I'd probably give it a 3 star. Cost: The cost was a little high. My wife found this place online and looked at their website. Which makes the restaurant look amazing. We drove a ways out of our way to be here and wound up walking into a place that looks nothing like advertised. I suppose if we looked at the yelp reviews and the pics we would have known. The Food is Flavorful, the Portions are Large, the restaurant is very spacious. The service is very casual. Our server was very friendly and helpful, but halfway through dinner all our drinks were dry. Food was delivered and then we were quietly left to enjoy with no check back. The end of dinner it took another 20 minutes to get the check and a box. We started with the Fried Brussel Sprouts, which were Incredible! I was going to get the Loaded Fries for my entree, but they were sold out of the short ribs. Okay food with a really beautiful view. Stopped by here Saturday evening on a trip to see the Horsehoe Bend. I got the island bowl which came with marinated chicken thigh, rice, salad, and a small side of macaroni salad. I enjoyed the macaroni salad, everything was just alright and I probably wouldn't get it again. Service was friendly and attentive. We had a party of 10 and we were in no hurry, in fact we went outside and enjoyed the beautiful views that they have. They took a long time to get us seated (it was after 7pm when we got here, most people were gone). Took a long time to serve us, had to ask several times for utensils and napkins. The food was not good. My wife and I shared the teriyaki bowl. The meat was cold, with bone on it and very little meat and the noodles were not good at all. All of our party said the same and we had multiple people not even eat their meal because it wasn't good. I hope others have a different experience but our was bad. read more

It was just okay. I was really disappointed in the char siu pork belly. It tasted like boiled pork which didn't do the dish any favors. My wife had the teriyaki chicken bowl. She asked told the sever that she was diabetic and asked that no extra teriyaki sauce be added. She was told that other than the marinade, no sauce was added. Unfortunately, the dish was covered in a thick layer of sauce. All in all, it was an okay visit. Good view and decent service. We stumbled upon Sunset 89 after a long day of hiking and driving around. The reviews seemed promising and the menu indicated a vegan option, so we were all in agreement that this would be a suitable pick for our late lunch. The place was pretty empty, minus a larger group, presumably a family, so it was a pretty chill and peaceful scene. We ordered our food with the lone server, and it arrived fairly promptly. I opted for the Tofu Stir-Fry Street Food Bowl and I gotta say - I was impressed with the generous heaping of perfectly roasted brussels sprouts and tofu. The flavor was really savory and delightful - a nice hearty meal and there was enough for leftovers. My friends maybe liked their bowls to a lesser degree, but there were not overt complaints. As other reviewers have stated, this place is particularly expensive for what it is! There isn't that much in terms of restaurant options, particularly those with plant-based options, in Page, so I guess it kind of makes sense. . . but yeah $30 for a pretty simple (albeit delicious) tofu rice bowl seemed kind of wild. read more

We stopped by after an excellent tour of Antelope Canyon, so gorgeous! I was a little shocked at the price of the Mochiko chicken wings ($26!) but to my surprise it was literally double the size of what I expected, so worth it. The BBQ short ribs bowl also came super loaded, the noodles were chewy, a tad on the sweet side. We had to take half to go! Down and Dirty: expensive spot with a great view and okay food. If you go, you're going for the view. Recommend grabbing a few cocktails and watching the sunset. The food is plentiful and delicious. It's very ginger forward but you can tell the locals love to come here for a reason. The gochujang wings are great. So are the short ribs if you're willing to spend a little more. The servers are a bit understaffed based on the demand but you'd hardly tell. They're all very positive and there's always someone bouncing around trying to help you. Plus everything inside looks and feels like a warm local restaurant which is needed amongst the McDonald's, KFC, Sonic, etc. Drawbacks: Some prices are a little higher than what you'd expect in Page, soba noodles weren't my fave (not bad though), and the location may be easy to miss since it reads as just 'Restaurant' when driving by. We were visiting page for a sports game and stopped on our way home to eat. We were a group of 10 total with kids in the mix. We chose to sit outside and it was a great choice! I do wish they had some type of screen to block the sun , but overall the view and atmosphere was great. Our server was phenomenal, had a sense of humor and really was able to explain each question we had. What a wonderful surprise was Sunset 89. We were traveling from Arizona to Washington and our time-to-eat clock rang as we were passing through Page, AZ. As is my partner's and my habit, we order brussel sprouts whenever offered and we were richly rewarded by Sunset 89's brussel sprouts, especially the "Gochujang" sauce in which sprouts were tossed prior to plating. Do yourself the favor of ordering Fried Brussel Sprouts should you find yourself at Sunset 89. The Mochiko Chicken Wings were delicious and every shred of tender meat was sucked off the bones. The wings were beautifully fried and served dry as per our order. These wings were made even better by the Gochujang dipping sauce. We also ordered the Baby Kale Caesar Salad that was the only dish for which we did not earn a 'clean-plate' club designation. Our server was laid back, seemingly enjoyed working at Sunset 89 and was quite attentive. The topper for our lunch at Sunset 89 was the view from the outside patio. We enjoyed a panoramic view of the Colorado River, Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam behind which Arizona mountains served as backdrop. We weren't fortunate enough to be seated directly facing the canyon but were able to secure seats on the side for partial canyon views. Service was friendly and gave us plenty of recommendations. We opted to share the steak entree, salmon, entree, and banana pudding amongst 3 of us. Servings were generous. The steak was cooked well but required sauce to make it more enjoyable. I think the major problem is lack of staff. When we arrived the place around 6:45, it was almost empty , but we were not seated because " there are people before you ". So, we sat at the bar and ordered the most awesome margaritas!! We watched the sunset from our bar seating. We were finally seated and we ordered one burger and ramen dish with tempura shrimp. My husband did not finish his burger and he loves burgers!! He said it was the flavor was off and my ramen was poorly cooked . We gave Sunset 89 two tries. On the first visit, we were told it was a 45 minute wait even though the restaurant was half full. We decided to return the next night and give them another chance. This time the restaurant was empty, but it still took the hostess 5 minutes to seat us. Then once we got a table, we spent 10 more minutes watching the servers chat at the bar without coming to our table. We left... again. We waited over an hour for our food, with no explanation or apology from the staff. At one point we joked that it must be called "Sunset" because you won't get your food until after sunset. What stood out most to us was how normalized the whole waiting experience seemed. The staff didn't acknowledge the delay at all as if this long of a wait is just expected. In most places, service like this wouldn't last a week from other competitors.
