A quiet place to get some good food. I noticed most people were getting carry out, but a couple of the tables were occupied. The waitress was very nice and attentive. She was always checking on us. This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Northeast Ohio has always been and they didn't fail me New Year's Eve. You gotta have Chinese food but no chicken never any poultry on New Year's Eve. I placed my order. They said it would be 10 minutes. It was four. I took it home. It was extremely hot still and I opened the shrimp and broccoli and the broccoli was still a nice dark green. It wasn't overcooked. it was still crispy and the jumbo shrimp was outstanding with the sauce being perfection just like always. I ordered a second thing for later on in the day, which was shrimp fried rice --again no chicken and when I got to it, it was still warm after six hours and the shrimp was tender and the fried rice was perfec. I don't care what I order at this restaurant or how often I'm there --it's worth the drive. I have three Chinese restaurants within walking distance from my house not worth the walk so go here get here they're fabulous and their dine in is just as good as their takeout. One thing I don't like- if you want anything spicy (even a little) you need to ask for it. There's little to no spice in even the "spicy" dishes unless you request. Ask for hot mustard though! BLAND. Everything was bland except the empress chicken sauce. We got the family dinner to go for 3 people and only got 1 (ONE!) TINY container of rice. It was only about a cup amount, and wasn't very tasty either. Cashew chicken had 2 Cashews in it and didn't taste like much, not even salt. The brocolli chicken tasted just like the Cashew , again bland. The egg roll was good. The soup, beyond bland, I threw it out. For 3 meals for 3 people they have the amount of soup other place give to two people. I needed a new Chinese restaurant because my normal one is now closed on Mondays. Much more restaurant style tasting than typical take out. Really good prices for the amount of food you get and the quality, but you have to ask for hot mustard and other sauces. Everything is pretty portioned. Chicken is really good- few larger pieces with actual white meat chicken than a bunch of tiny ones. The pineapple and carrot in the sweet and sour sauce adds a nice touch. Friendly, quick service provided and typically there's several filled tables in the restaurant too. Meh. They were open late which was really nice because not many places are post Covid. It was also really cheap eats so that was fine too. We got a mei fun and a Hong Kong chicken. The mei fun was cool because it was gluten free rice noodles. Unfortunately the Mei fun was fairly flavorless. It had a very tiny sauce and mustard with it (super, super, uber teeny weenie). I got the house variety and the there was a decent smattering of meat, lots of noodles and bean sprouts with some veggies The hong Kong chicken was fried which my hubby didn't like. This is my favorite Chinese place in the Parma area and surrounding areas. I've tried about 5 or 6 other places around here and this place has my favorite veggie eggrolls. They are fantastic. When I order Chinese I usually only get white/steamed rice and eggrolls (sometimes chicken teriyaki.) so I can't really say anything about any of the other food but I think they have really good white rice and veggie eggrolls haha (believe it or not I HAVE actually had a place screw up my white rice so that's why I say this!!) read more

The quality of the food has seriously declined over the many years we've been going here. Our kung pao chicken was very bland and not spicy. It's labeled on the menu with a chili pepper indicating that it's spicy, but when I called the restaurant I was told that unless you ask for it spicy they don't put spices in it. Also, the eggs rolls were terrible, they were filled only with cabbage. They used to be so much better. When I asked what they fill the egg rolls with, the lady said cabbage, carrots, and ground chicken. I told her that there was only cabbage, nothing else and she suggested that I couldn't see the chicken because it's ground. I replied that there is absolutely no chicken or anything else but cabbage and that I can bring it up if she wants to see it. She hung up on me. After being a loyal customer for over 20 years and seeing the decline in quality, we will find another Chinese restaurant in the area. Very disappointing. read more

Where to even begin. Small portions, no flavor, everything tastes the same. $2.50 for an egg roll that is just unseasoned cabbage. Wonton soup doesn't even have wontons in it, it's just the dough pieces folded over in a broth without the meat. Egg drop soup is not made correctly with the egg folded in slowly, but rather just stirred in quickly making no ribbons of egg. Mainly just cornstarch and dye to make it thick and yellow and gelatinous. Hunan chicken and Szechuan shrimp are the same flavor, same veggies, which is 60% onions and 35% other veggies and 5% meat. Hunan chicken was not made with a black bean sauce, which is what makes it Hunan style. Sauces taste totally watered down. Hunan chicken had maybe 5 quarter size thinly sliced pieces of chicken in the large portion. Each dish should come with a side of rice but they only give one small container of rice for the whole order. None of the containers are filled, when you open them there is an inch gap between the top of the box and the food, including the rice. So disappointed in this place. I'm Chinese and I grew up in the restaurant industry and worked in my family restaurant for my preteen and teen years so I'd like to think I have a decent grasp of good Chinese food and this was not it. read more

I especially like the large selection of Tofu dishes of traditionally meat dishes. I did have 1 bad dish which was the Kung Pao Tofu. Not bad for close to home. My only complaints are the egg rolls and spring rolls are lacking compared to King Wah, Center Ridge Rd. Almost nothing inside, not even cabbage. This place has been here a long time ( maybe 30 years, which speaks to its quality ) it's consistently above average for Chinese food, some dishes are spectacular. Lunch is a great deal there for 7.95 you can get a complete meal with fried rice and egg roll. The Hunan chicken ( lunch) was excellent, I judge by the quality of the protein, the sauce and the vegetable quality...this dish was 4-5 stars on all including value. Place is clean and the owners are great, a married couple, one who has been cooking there since the beginning and the wife who is often there too. I'm a big fan of Chinese cuisine and have had it at MANY places, including the Red Door in San Fransisco, I dont know how anyone who knows good Chinese could rate this place below 4 stars. read more

The pepper steak was good but didn't have much meat. The good: The meatless fried rice that came with pepper steak was good and pepper steak was good to except for the lack of meat. We decided to try Mandarin House because we were tired of our usual Chinese meal. I was unimpressed with my meal. While I enjoyed the broth, the won tons in my won ton soup were doughy and did not have any meat inside. My garlic chicken was pale and flavorless. My egg roll was cool and had no meat inside as well. The duck sauce was cold and lumpy. The one thing I enjoyed was he fried rice but I wish it had more meat in it. We always bring friends and family from out of town here and they are always blown away by how great it is. Mandarin House has been one of my FAVORITE places to get Chinese food in Cleveland for over 10 years. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. Generous portions as you would expect from Chinese. The egg rolls are the best I've ever had and you can order vegetable ones with no problem. Over the years they have been expanding their vegetarian menu to include tofu dishes such as Teriakyi tofu, Ma Po Tofu, and General Tsos. The non-tofu vegetarian dishes have always been very good. My friends and family never complain. My veg faves are the Curry Vegetables, lots of chopped vegetables over a bed of rice noodles in a light curry sauce, and the Hunan vegetables, lots of chopped veggies in a brown hunan sauce with rice. They also also have great pad thai and egg foo young dishes and they have brown rice on the menu! I can't say enough about the freshness and taste of the dishes compared to other chinese places. You get actual cut vegetables like broccoli, water chestnuts, carrots and bok choy. It's not just a lot of filler vegetables like onions and celery. The fried rice is fluffy not clumpy. The food is prepared to order. Presentation is always great. The staff is always very friendly and attentive. The prices are average for chinese food with some of the speciality items priced a little higher. The place is clean and been redecorated in the last few years. I took my Grandma Helen here for lunch. She is very picky about freshness and cleanliness and this place passed the test. (She ordered the chow mein and enjoyed it very much). I love Chinese food, but it seems that at most places it is not fresh, or it is loaded with a helping of MSG large enough to give me a headache for weeks. This is not true with Mandarin House. My boyfriend and I have been going here since we moved to Parma three years ago. We order the food when the mood strikes us, but we stop in to just pick up bubble tea at least a few times a month. The food is excellent, and their wonton soup is the best I've ever had. I'd recommend the beef chow fun: wide rice noodles, beef, soy, and bean sprout. It's a dish most Chinese restaurants in our area don't offer, but it is one of the best, and Mandarin House does it well. Oh, and the bubble tea...get it! Love this place a lot! It's a great spot for late night dinner! Living in Parma means a lot of places close pretty early so finding something good to eat isn't easy at times! I'm truly thrilled I discovered this place because it is amazing! They have a large variety of bubble tea which is interesting! I was intrigued by Mandarin house after reading some of its reviews on Yelp. Something about the pictures reached out to me, what most reached out to me was the label Chinese & Vietnamese restaurant. Chinese/Mandarin yes, Vietnamese I think not. Some noodle soups, but I was desiring more options. Vietnamese vegetable soup would've been delightful. I love the atmosphere here. Reminds me of an old favorite that is no longer open. The egg rolls were fantastic. The main dishes we had left a lot to be desired. I had vegetable pad Thai . I should've known to ask If egg was going to be in it. It had a fairly foul smell but tasted ok. The honey garlic chicken just didn't cut it. My family and I have been coming here for years. It's consistently good, no matter what we order. Tonight was the governors chicken, pho ga, vegetable lo mein, and chicken chop suey. I wish there was a little more broccoli in the governors chicken, but I love the flavor. My dad always gets a large knowing I'll eat more than I should. The egg rolls are fantastic, crispy, dictionary, and I love the sauce that comes with it. It's all tasty, every time. Affordable and fast prep. You can't go wrong! read more
