I moved and had to find a new Chinese restaurant. This was the first and last place I tried. It was better than the previous place (in another county). The carry-out service has always been delightful. I only wish I was able to try their dine-in. I ordered takeout at least a dozen times, but the last time I ordered, I was floored by the price! What was always $35 was near $60! I went to double check and lo and behold, I see different prices in the pics on Yelp, and their facebook page hasn't been updated in years. So other than going in to place and order and ask, how would I know? There are no prices listed for dish/meal substitutions or the homemade mustard/duck sauce. I can't help but wonder what I paid for a tiny 1oz cup of mustard the last time? I'm guessing I would've passed on it had I been aware. I will likely order again, I have a patient that loves the wonton, but not nearly as often. I'm only going to order when I can place in-store, so I can see what I'm paying for! Until they publish all of their prices in a place where they can be found. Whether on a website, social media, or at the minimum, their actual menu. read more

Called and ordered takeout and order was ready in 25 minutes. You can't eat there FYI. I got the Beef Rice Noodle bowl and it was good but I liked their Pho that I got last time more. My friend got the honey garlic chicken and was expecting it to be deep friend as the last chicken dish you got from here was not. read more

It was really easy to find this place. My friend and I were in an area and I've had this place bookmarked for a minute. We read a few reviews and decided to give it a try. We ordered a bunch of different items to try out. Fried won tons, very good 5/5, crab Rangoon 4/5, potstickers (I didn't try these) I got the Mongolian beef, it's good but beware it does have mushrooms in it and it wasn't spicy at all. In fact I didn't see any peppers at all. Decent flavor but too bland for me 3/5. I got the summer rolls with grilled pork, I would give them a 3/5 as they are filled mostly with rice noodles, next time I would try the ones with shrimp and pork. I also wanted to try banh mi as I haven't been able to get a decent sandwich since leaving California. Flavor wise it's a 3.5/5 the bun is almost like a hoagie roll and too thick for this type of sandwich. The daicon and carrots are usually marinated in a vinaigrette type sauce, these aren't. The pork is tasty tho. I just don't like the bread to filling ratio, in California the banh mi sandwiches are usually made with baguettes. Overall I would return and try other dishes and will definitely come to get the won tons. While it is a large restaurant, they have take out only. Excellent quality and value! The food is delicious, and the portions are very generous! My favorite items have been the beef pho, chicken pho, shrimp and pork cabbage salad, and the shrimp and pork summer rolls! I find ordering an extra sauce with the summer rolls provided the perfect amount. They are currently carry-out only which is fine since many Asian cuisine restaurants are. The service is quick and friendly, and it always seems busy whenever I stop in to pick up my order. Was visiting a friend at a local hospital and decided to look for a new Chinese food place. The food at Nam Wah was amazing, best I have found so far in the area. Walked in and the place was large however they are strictly take out only. There was only one lady handing the orders and she took our order and made some suggestions. We ordered a variety of items starting with fried wonton, potstickers, crab ragoons and pork summer rolls. Also ordered the Mongolian beef and cashew chicken entrees. After my 30 min drive home, I'm happy to report the food was still very hot. The fried items were still crispy and crunchy. Breaking down each item, the fried wontons were a little overdone for my preference, also to the point of too cooked, they tasted good but just too hard on the outside. The crab ragoons were full of filling that was creamy compared to the crunchy outside and the homemade duck since was delicious. The potstickers also had a sufficient amount of filling and were steamed and then pan friend for that perfect kiss. The cashew chicken was delicious, it had a lot of cashews which I loved as some places barely add any to the top and a goo ratio of veggies to chicken. Just finished carryout from Berea's Nam Wah: General Tso's chicken. It was not edible: chicken was overcooked and rock hard, too little sauce, impossible to chew. It took a steak knife to attempt to cut bite sized pieces. This has happened on more than one occasion. Tried Nam Wah tonight for the first time. The restaurant is currently only open for take out. However, the dining room is large and spacious. The crab rangoons were delicious and came with sweet and sour sauce. The sesame chicken was my least favorite as it seemed overcooked and lacked flavor. What impressed me the most you may ask? After the waitress took our order for drinks, the server came right after to take our orders. After he took the order he asked us if anyone had any known food allergies that they need to be concerned about. In fact there was someone with food allergies (me)! So we went over my allergies and I am so happy he did. I have to eat very simple and they made my pork fried rice taste so special. They left all ingredients out that would not be good for me. I had ordered an egg roll and later he told me that it may not be good for me, so he didn't serve it. Thank you so much for looking out for your customers health and best interest. My husband was raving on how tasty his sweet & sour pork tasted. It did look and smell really good. Great sized portions. This place honestly is a diamond in the rough. Next store to it is a hardware or lawn and garden store (unsure). On the other side is a Dollar General. It seems to be squeezed in the middle. From the outside it looks small. Inside is pretty roomy. I can see myself having a family dinner there very comfortably. They have a bar as well as tv's at the bar. They were watching the Browns game. The background music was modern. My one small observation, the bathroom should be spruced up just a little bit. Other than that great people, lovely happy smiles. I am so appreciative of their extra attention to detail when patrons place their orders. Hopefully we will see the restaurant with more people and it flourishes. read more

I haven't been here in a while but I think about this restaurant all the time. I would always get the grilled chicken super bowl and I loved the texture of the noodles and the crispiness of the pickled veggies. The egg roll on top also added a nice crunch to the bowl. I know they don't do dine in anymore which is a shame, but if you're in the area on a nice day it's totally worth it to order and go and have a little picnic in the metroparks just a bit away. read more

Moving 'em up a star. Last night's meal with my wife was stellar. After a long ski-trip weekend up North we returned home and were in need of a warming bowl of soup. We made our way over to Nam Wah to take in a bowl of Pho. We started the meal off with a couple of Summer rolls. They were filled with shrimp, pork, veggies and served with a thick, sweet and spicy peanut sauce. My wife and I each order the same bowl. The pho tai nam was huge and so, so filling. It came with a traditional set-up plate and the bowl was filled with rice noodles and sliced beef and brisket. The broth had hints of cinnamon, but a bit of hoisin sauce and sriracha gave it the perfect savory taste with heat. We had leftovers, which made a great lunchtime meal today. Plenty of bang for your buck here. So glad these guys have stepped up their game and providing the local West side communities with food this good! read more

I was not at all impressed with the food at Nam Wah. Sadly I ordered the Bun Bo Hue which is a Vietnamese special beef soup similar to pho and it was the worst I've ever had. Not to be so harsh, but I noticed the dustings of powder on the side of the bowl and the taste made it clear that it came from a box. The pho was a little better than the Bun bo Hue but not by much. The meats in both were low quality and gristly. Hate to say such negative things about a local place but I could not recommend it. We did have great service, and the atmosphere is pleasant, I just wouldn't return for the food. read more

I really REALLY loved the pork banh mi with egg $7. The bun was soft, the yoke of the egg a perfect addition, the little crunch from the veggies, just lovely juicy flavors having at it in my mouth. The big bowl of pho tai nam $10, was normal tasting, nothing special. But It's nice to have soup when you are feeling under the weather. Don't worry about not finishing this, staff with put it in a container for you. Speaking of staff, my server was great. A friendly woman who always had a smile. I got a fortune cookie at the end of my meal so that was a nice sweet treat. I stopped in on a Sunday a little after they opened. Not many people inside just yet so it would have been a nice peaceful lunch had these two guys not shown up and loudly curse and talk about the health issue of one of their wives. Nam Wah must translate to 'No Way'. Wasn't flexible on changing sauce / meat around. I Wanted the red sauces but not breaded chicken so I asked to sub unbreaded w/ the Empress or sub red sauce in on a Hunan / Kung pao type of chicken dish. No dice. Ordered cashew chick. Too many bamboo chutes, celery and cashews (duh). So many bamboos.. that's All I tasted, even the sauce taste like it. Shoulda got a different combo of veggies that I really like, as the wife did. Their veggie fried rice was outstanding. Service was ok. Over charged item on our bill so had to get that fixed. Atmosphere was pretty drab / dark in there. Didn't quite warrant a 4 star. read more

The pho here is phenomenal! I hope they open the restaurant again because it's takeout only currently. Pho has a really uniquely yummy broth base - & it's so healthy with all the fresh veggie. I highly recommend this place for an all around great meal. I also had their chicken & broccoli. It was also a great flavor with a lighter sauce, not like the brown sauce you get at a chinese place. Meh. Very meh. I had an egg roll. It was good. They had a bottle labled homemade hot mustard. It was really good. I trust it must be homemade brcause I never tasted anything like it. I used it on my egg roll. I also had the Pho Tai. It was boring and flavorless. The meat was good. The portion was good. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. The broth was very boring. I could have done better with beef bullion and some spices. I actually have. I would give this place another try if I happen by but not likely considering I was in town for work.
