Food was so authentic I thought I was in country. I got the Mandi chicken. Cooked to perfection. I also got the chick n kabob plate. I ordered a Chicken Shwarma Combo. 2/3's of my plate was rice. 1/3 was of the plate was salad and there was some chicken crumbled on top of the rice. The food looked nothing like photographs. Absolutely loved the food! I ordered Chicken Mandi and it was delicious. The rice was rich in flavor and chicken was cooked so soft and tender. Mandi House is one of my favorite restaurants in all Tempe. Known for the chicken mandi of course, so definitely try that. You can't go wrong though. Its all delicious and service is super friendly. Heads up to my American friends - most other cultures arent used to pestering their customers so they leave the restaurant as soon as possible. So, the staff will check in periodicallt but dont be afraid to ask or waive if you need assistance. Enjoy your time! read more

I had my arabic food fix today ... Thanks to Mandi House. I had the baked fish (pompano) mandi & it was so good. The fish was grilled to perfection, spices were good & rice was light. The portion was huge so I had to take some extra fish & rice home. I also ordered lamb mandi to go & I'm looking forward to tasting it. Portions: awesome. Knafeh for 11$? If that's for one piece- that's insane. Complimentary tea: amazing. However, food was so salty I couldn't eat it. Probably the saltiest food I've ever had in years. If there is WAY less salt, this place would really be a hit. (Please reduce salt. Please. Literally it's like an entire salt shaker in one meal. This place is really good! Apache Blvd is known for it many great cultural cuisine destinations. The location itself used to be a firehouse and a Long Wongs for a short period. This Middle Eastern restaurant serves up Yemeni cuisine - slow cooked meats cooked in spices and served with rice and vegetables. I teach ESL to International students on the side and brought a few of them here for lunch. I love how they have an area that you can sit on floor cushions and eat. They have free tea up front and quite a variety of baklava choices. The entrée portions are quite generous. I had the Chicken Shawarma and one of my students had the Zerban Chicken. Both were amazing! The owner came out and shared her story of coming here to the US and how she ended up here in Arizona after being in New York for a brief time (cheaper rent). This is a fairly new Middle Eastern restaurant in Tempe. It's a very nice and clean place. You do get a Middle Eastern feel and their music is pretty great there (if you're into their music). Food and service was exceptional. Prices are reasonable and worth it because these plates are in huge portions. There is also an area for you to sit down and eat(my favorite way to eat Middle Eastern food) but if you prefer, there are also tables and booths. Mandi meat and Biryani chicken are a must try! They also have tea available for you before or after your meal, it's delicious. I came in late so I didn't get to see much of the bakery side of the place but from the look of it, everything is tasty here. I'm gonna hold out on the last star because this place is kind of ghetto and has a scary/creepy parking lot. It's next to a motel and you can't park in the motel parking spot. You have to go through their parking lot and it's kind of creepy at night for me(a girl) to go there alone, so bring some friends! Another reason why is that I wish they have a plate that feature different kind of meat instead of just 1 specific type of meat per plate. Maybe I'm asking too much but most places I have been to, there's always an option where I can get gyro, chicken and kabob all on one plate. Also, I love rice and yogurt but the yogurt here wasn't doing it for me, it wasn't creamy enough. Overall though, I like the place and love the food. Companion and I arrived for dinner and were promptly seated. Entry is through a small parking lot in the rear, and is easily missed. The restaurant has two rooms, one with regular tables, and one in which guests are able to sit on the floor. We started out with a plate of hummus (4.99). Startlingly smooth and beautifully not over spiced, this was to portend the start of a really good dinner. For main courses we ordered Mandi Meat (Roasted Lamb w/basmati rice 13.99) , Zerban Meat (Lamb w/raisins, nuts, potatoes in a tomato based sauce 13.99), Falafel 5.99, and Areekah (Bread w/dates, honey, and cream 7.99) The portions were large, and the lamb was cooked perfectly with wonderful flavors. The Areekah served as our dessert, and is almost addicting to eat. Once you start, you cannot stop. Our only disappointment was with Falafel. It was on the dry side and was obviously made from a mix rather than fresh fava beans. All this also came with complimentary salad with two types of dressings available and on the plate. To be honest, this is going to become one of my new must eat at places because the food is so very good. It is also worth noting that they also serve a breakfast menu which includes Shakshuka, which is a must have middle eastern dish of eggs cooked in a tomato base with spices. I personally cook this at home, and have never found any place that cooked it in the U.S. I highly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful experience of eating middle eastern food. 4 stars for cleanliness, portion size, and wonderful flavors. read more

Been to this place way too many times for food but unfortunately, they are selling haram meat although saying it's halal. Video clearly shows the son of the owner buying it. I'm sure people who have been there multiple times like myself knows who this gentlemen is. If you're selling haram, just say you are. Why deceive people who are strict about eating halal meat. I have yet to visit the restaurant, however when ordering for the first time I was overwhelmed by the rich taste and authenticity of the food, as someone missed having authentic food for years, I'm glad that I stumbled upon Mandi House, hopefully with the end of Pandemic I'd be able to dine there, to all the staff there, thank you for keeping it fresh :) totally recommend read more

Only weird thing is we didn't know if there was table service or if you're supposed to order at the counter (which we ended up doing.) We've ordered takeout a few times since our first visit. Huge portions of rice and fall off the bone chicken perfectly spiced. We tried the fish too which the regulars seemed to order. From the outside we could smell the aroma of delicious food and very excited to try this restaurant. We started with hummus and baba ganoush with pita and it was delicious. The main course arrived and it looked amazing. We had ordered half chicken and half beef dishes but they brought full orders. We also asked for a knife three times to cut the meat and never received one. I found a hair in my salad and again in my beef dish with rice. We told the waiter and he took the hair and never came back to the table. They did not offer to remake the food or a discount. Basically he ignored the issue. We paid and left. I checked the 1-star reviews and all of them are false, the food is cooked to perfection and the service is great as the food did not take more than 30 minutes. the cleaning is good too. Of course, everything will take time as it's a family business but everything was perfect from the food to the service. I'm a picky eater and barely like any Middle Eastern restaurant even though I'm from there but I tried the chicken and the rice it was amazing and the price was very fair as most arab restaurants I have gone to for the last 7 years I have been in her America either have meat too much fat or they have fine food but the price but this restaurant has fair prices, amazing food, amazing service and made me feel like I was in my home country as they have the arab furniture including the furnac. We had three people and everything in total came up to 60 dollars including the drinks the food and the tax. I'll definitely go there again just for the chicken rice read more

I had the fallafel sandwich combo. It came with fries and a soda. I had a can of Sprite since it was late at night. The fries could have been cooked a little longer, they were a little too light for my taste but they didn't taste bad with the ketchup. The fallafel sandwich was good especially with spiracha on it. I wish I would have known that it came with cucumbers and big pieces of tomatoes cause I would have asked for it to be made without those two ingredients. Now I know how to order my dish next time. The food was good and the server was great. He is was really nice with my fussy 3 year old and knew just what to do to calm her down. He gave her a chocolate bar, it worked. Overall it was a good experience. My girl liked her food and I liked mine for the most part. The vibe was really laid back in the restaurant and they have paint that the guests are allowed to play.
