I am a HUGE Greek/Mediterranean food fan! Especially when I'm traveling for work (why I'm here in Phoenix), and most food option to order aren't the healthiest, I always find this to at least be a halfway decent alternative. I ordered the chicken Medi bowl and it was so incredibly flavorful. I took the picture before I mixed everything together, but I was glad to see it did mix well. There's nothing worse than getting a bowl and trying to mix all the ingredients together, but you end up just taking giant bites of hummus with nothing else. Their portion size felt like just the right amount, with a good balance of chicken, veggies, quinoa, and a sauce to mix in. I was originally going to immediately give this place 4 stars max, because it's my biggest pet peeve when places don't give silverware with their takeout orders (I luckily had a fork from something else I ordered, but it was flimsy and not made for this bowl for sure). But after eating it, the flavors were out of this world that I did feel like it was deserving of 5 stars. We have some pretty great Mediterranean restaurants in Boise, but I think this definitely competes! read more

Food is great! BUT your staff is the worst! I came in today during lunch around 1pm or so. The girl behind the counter barely greeted me, just quickly wanted to take my order...all while her making faces and rolling her eyes. I had to give my order multiple times because I literally could not hear over the music she was BLASTING. Once I did receive my order and asked for additional sauces the eye rolling continued. Beyond rude! People like that make a delicious place taste disgusting. I hope you take the time to train your employee on basic guest service. If she has a hard time working with people she shouldn't be in the service industry. read more

We discovered this on our day of touring around Tempe before the Innings Festival. Located on an alley of about 10 food establishments on the ASU campus. The inside was small and full of color. We did notice this was a very popular place for students, and it seemed about 80% were by mobile order. There are many things to like about this place but a few that made me also not like it. First off the main part, the food was great. The zesty wrap was a great price and very large, same as the Doner bowl, packed with all of the ingredients both me and my wife were very full after eating our meals clocking in a just over $30 tip included. Now for the downside, the menu posted inside above where they make everything, maybe I'm old, but it was just confusing to me. Then when you walk up to the counter to order they have a hand held menu that makes sense. Easy to understand. Wish I would have seen that first. The main thing that disappointed me was the service or lack thereof. Now I realize they were busy with mobile orders and maybe it's because it's in campus or i don't know. Even after standing from afar looking at the menu for a good 5-7 minutes nothing from the employees. Then walking up to the counter we stood at the register for AT LEAST 5 minutes with an employee less than 5 feet away with no acknowledgment whatsoever. Then when she was ready to take our order she was neither friendly nor happy. Overall Yelp doesnt do half stars but I would realistically give Spitz a 3.5, not 4. The Berliner is poorly done. Its nothing like the doner kebob you get in any place in Germany Huge disappointment. The sandwich normally has more meat and no cucumbers. This place seems to sacrifice veggies. Even if I removed the sandwich was no where near my love for the German dober kebab. And I have yet to find any place to get one. All medeterrainian serve their regional versions which are not the same or as good as the German Kebabs I loved. Gyros are close - close. But not as good. read more

It was not my first time ordering, but definitely a better-rounded experience this time and now I fully get it: fries just don't travel well. But here? They were a nice addition. The vegan gyro (falafel) was all the things: hummus, pickled onion and carrot, roasted corn, lemon herb tahini dressing, kalamata olives, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, and fries, all wrapped in pita. Even after sitting for two hours (thanks, distractions), and getting steam-logged, it still hit hard in the flavor department. My taste buds rejoiced. As for the MediBowl? That's tomorrow's journey. But I'm excited. If it's anything like the last bowl I had... whether it's close, totally different, or just on par, I'm in for another flavor-packed experience. What a bummer. I used to go to Spitz a few times a week when I lived in Cali. When I lived in CO, I went a fair amount as well. Moving to AZ, I was stoked to see Spitz available so decided to go. What a let down (like a said). Not only did the service totally suck but the chicken I got (my go-to order is always 3 sides of chicken) was just BLECH. I mean, I ate it and it was fine but it def wasn't like it used to be and the seasonings were so insanely over powering, it was an explosion of flavor in my mouth but not really a good one. My husband seemed to like his salad and then later his wrap (he got one to go), but also, it doesn't seem like his order (he always got these things over the years) changed that much depending on the restaurant location. The chicken at Spitz however has gone through a metamorphosis since 2011. Any who. I got Spitz out of my system and probably will never go back as I'm pretty sure there are better Med restaurants closer to where I live that have faster service. read more

I just ordered Spitz for the first time and it was awesome. I've been looking for a place in AZ that has good Doner kabobs for like 10 years and finally found it. I did the street Doner spicy style with beef, lamb, and chicken (and added 50% more meat) and I am so satisfied right now. I can take down big portions and I am so full after eating that. My wife did the Med Bowl with chicken and loved it as well....plus she only ate like half and has lunch for tomorrow now. I highly recommend this place. read more

I've biked through here several times and stopped for lunch and this by far is one of my favorite little spots over here on the ASU campus. I'd recommend the only time to drive is on the weekend as getting here and parking is a challenge... and I don't pay for parking. The staff has always been super friendly and I like that I get to customize my meal based on my mood at the time with ease. So I kept it simple for myself and went with a Greek salad and included a double side of meat on it of lamb and beef. I also decided to do the upgrade for the combo which I thought was a bit expensive but it included a beverage as well as another side salad for me. They gave me a 2nd bowl & surprised me by making it custom and combining it all so I had the "best of both worlds". Man let me tell ya, probably one of the best Gyro salads I've had in quite a long time. In addition to the Gyro salad we also we also grabbed 2 Street Cart wraps loaded as combos with fries. If you're driving by car, you are going to have to park on the backside and enter off rural off the side like you're going to the pickleball tennis courts & wrap around. I did not like Mediterranean food until I tried Spitz. The location being on the ASU campus is so convenient. I also love all their specials that they have throughout the week. My favorite are the Street Cart Fries and the Greek Salad! But the wings are also a runner up. The service was good as well and they were fast with the food. The food is amazing and service is very good! I stopped here yesterday around 11pm before starting my shift driving Lyft. This was the only Mediterranean food restaurant open that late. It is on the ASU campus and stays open until 1am. I wanted a chicken pita, but it wasn't on the menu, so the friendly man working there guided me to modify the gyro by changing any of the ingredients at no charge. I stood there in awe as they made the most delicious pita I've ever seen or eaten. It came with two tasty sauces. One was the traditional tzatziki sauce I believe, and the other was a zesty red tomatoey sauce. Then he added chicken shawarma, tomato, onions, banana peppers, lettuce mix and feta cheese. The Berliner lamb Doner I ordered was very big. It had a good ratio of meat and vegetables and it more than satisfy growling stomach at 10:30pm on a Saturday night. It was about $15 after taxes though. It's in the heart of the ASU campus on Apache Blvd so parking can be challenging on the time you visit. I easily found street parking. The location is surrounded by other restaurants so it was lively on a Saturday night. My son didn't think it was the same kind of Done found in Germany but liked this version, too. I would go back again and try the gyros or bowl next time. It's a great late night option since they don't close til 1am. No picture since I hate it all in one sitting. read more

Gluten free eater. This is a regular for college students from ASU. The restaurant is more of a takeout place with a few tables inside. The food has a Greek spin to it. I got loaded fries. And it was good. We just came back from a trip to Greece and I can't say the food is the same but it's more approachable. I would come back. read more

Hidden away at the edge of Arizona State University campus between student housing apartments and the green space of the school. Right off of busy Apache Road. Right in the heart of Tempe. It's a little tricky to find parking as it appears it is only meter street parking available nearby. We lucked out at lunchtime on a Saturday to find a spot right on our front. The small shop is very unique. The art on the walls is interesting to look at. They have bottled soft drinks and water. The staff were very friendly. Apparently, it has just been open about 2 months. The food was fresh and quick. The noodles in the macaroni were perfect. This isn't your kids' macaroni and cheese plate. It has a great kick to it but not too spicy. Seasoned fries line the bottom of the large dish they are covered by a hearty pile of macaroni and cheese that was so well seasoned. The view from the patio was really beautiful. The weather was cooperative for outdoor seating. It is a rather small restaurant with less than 15 indoor seats. The patio area is shared with other restaurants/yogurt shops in the strip mall area. I definitely recommend it. Being a vegetarian, it is nice to be able to order anything on the menu. While still being able to bring my carnivore friends along because they have several meat protein choices to add to the dishes. Definitely recommend for a different than fast food experience. Very casual and comfortable place to eat. Prices were fair for the amount of food. My $15 meal will serve me for 2 meals. Go try it, I think you will like it. read more
