My first time trying Mandi Xpress, and I had a really good experience. The food was flavorful, and the lamb mandi was tender and well-seasoned. After telling them we were only interested in getting some drinks, they also took the time to explain each option to us. There is plenty of seating inside. Very spacious and clean. Not too loud and perfect for a group or eating by yourself. We ordered their Adeni Chai and their Yemeni Coffee. I was specifically wondering if they had Karak tea and discovered it was their chai. And it was! Very delicious, creamy, and unique. I can drink like 3 of these a day if I could. The Yemeni coffee definitely packs a punch when it comes to energizing you and giving you that caffeine kick. My wife and I are seniors and thought just sharing a whole chicken plate would be more than enough plus it was better value. They were generous enough to give us 2 full half chicken plates instead. Visited Mandi Xpress for the first time and had a disappointing experience. I asked a basic question about the menu and received a short, dismissive response. We ordered fish and a quarter chicken and waited about 30-35 minutes. During that time, multiple tables who ordered after us received their food first. When we asked about our order, staff seemed unsure and then told us the fish takes ~20 minutes--but no one mentioned that when we ordered. And our food should've still come out because we waited longer. After waiting nearly 40 minutes with no clear update, we asked for a refund and left without eating. A simple heads-up about wait times or a quick apology would have made a big difference. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and service made this a poor experience. read more

I only tired them once so my exposure to this place is limited to one single experience which wasn't very good. A lot of what transpired can be attributed to language barrier. They guy at the counter was very nice but couldn't understand us and vice versa due to his limited command of English... as well as our currency. We ordered Chicken Mandi and Beef Qolaba. Ordering took at least 5 minutes because of the language barrier. Note to owner. Please staff the counter with people who know some English and also know the difference between dollar bills of various denominations. (It took us several minutes to get our change back as the guy had no clue how to differentiate between various bills and coins) During the ordering we were asked if we wanted Almonds and fried Onions with our Mandi, to which we said yes and saw the items on the bill as well. We also asked for an extra Yemini bread with the Qolaba. The extra bread should've been $3.99 but we were charged $5.99. Later on I got the Chicken Mandi but it came without the fried onions and the almonds. When I asked the guy at the counter, he apologized, blamed the "new" cook in the kitchen and showed up 10 minutes later with a huge plate of raw Julienne cut almonds and pre-fried crisp Indian style onions and told me to spread it on top of the rice. Mandi is supposed to have sauteed almonds and onions. Not raw almonds and pre-fried crisp onions out of a box. Although he did not skimp on the quantity but definitely this was not how Mandi is supposed to be served. Overall the Mandi and the Qolaba were well made. Before I forget, The dish that was advertised as "Beef" Qolaba was actually made with "Lamb". My friend hates Lamb (because of gaminess, and his personal preference). The other option we were later told was Liver! Another no-way. Overall they have a lot to do to improve their service and maybe the recipe as well if the toppings are always raw and it was not a one-off. read more
