Charged my credit card without my authorization. They never should have even retained my card info. I tried to file a complaint with the BBB and was told I'd have to release medical records in order to do so. Office staff is rude and not at all helpful. Dr. Mandy Warthen is the worst Dr I have ever seen!! I took my teenage daughter to her for help with her acne. ANY question I asked was answered with a scolding- in a VERY elevated voice! When she left the room my daughter asked why she was "yelling at me." This woman is just not right.... And she did NOT even look up close at my daughter! So she writes out prescriptions and never even examined patient! And then has the nerve for shaming me for not purchasing a price inflated Clarisonic from her. I wish I could give 0 stars. By an accident I found out the lies Mandy Warthan filled my medical file with. One example among others is that the lesion I saw her for was bleeding when it was NOT and I have pics to prove it. Unfortunately, this was only the tip of the iceberg. Either maliciously or due to negligence, no doctor has the right to paint an inaccurate picture of your health. More so now, that your electronic medical file will follow you for the rest of your life, and sooner or later you will pay the price for it, either in higher premiums or refusal of treatment by insurance companies. Please read this,it won't take more than 2 minutes.I generally don't write the reviews but I wanted to help you sharing my experience.Here, the wait time is minimum 2 hours and even waiting for 2 hours doctor Mandy doesn't have 15 minutes to address patients queries.She is always in hurry.Her staff is not knowledgeable at all.They were sending the wrong prescription to my pharmacy.During my second visit after waiting for 1hr15 minutes at reception and 45 minutes inside that room,I got frustrated and asked for the doctor and Dr.Mandy literally saw me at the reception area. My Confidentiality was not even taken care of.Also she lied to me that since I am on Accutane treatment and can't switch the doctor. I was so frustrated that eventually I decided not to continue with her.I am on a high risk medication and can't trust her.So please guys this place is hell. If only there were a minus 5 rating! If you would like to have plastic surgery to correct what this butcher did, then absolutely go to her!!! She comes in your room in a rush and gives you no time to ask questions. Just like others have complained, she says she can only remove 2 spots due to insurance-absolutely FALSE! I was told the procedure would heal in 2 weeks -it's now 5 months later and have to have plastic surgery to correct a purple and black mess . Maybe the knife or whatever was used wasn't sterilized? Who knows . I went to another dermatologist to have the same procedure done on another growth and there was no trace of it in 10 days!! read more

If I could rate this place a ZERO I would. First off - Dr. Mandy Warthan was an HOUR late to my appointment. She didn't apologize when she entered my room. She said it was "up to her discretion on how much Botox she used and that it was $318 per area". I had NO idea that between the brows was an area. I guess she makes her own rules up as she goes. Forehead and eyes was my request. At $318 per area, the doctor can basically decide if she's charging you $318 for 15 units or 30! Not acceptable. Against my better judgement I let her inject me. I was waiting for her to ice me or have me scrunch my face to show my lines but she never did. Before I knew it she was jabbing my face! I should have stopped her after the first jab. After 10 minutes of jabbing and bleeding I was given a bill for $954. I have never paid over $650 for Botox - and I've had it done in places like LA and Chicago. I asked her how many units she used and she couldn't tell me. About an hour after the procedure I began to bruise around my right eye and all over my forehead. (I have photos) I called the office to discuss my concerns and also to ask why they didn't take my Brilliant Distinction rewards. Dr. Mandy would not return my calls. A week later her sister called me to tell me there was nothing she could do and it is what it is. No apology for her sister Mandy's behavior. I am out $954, I have a bruised face, my eyebrows are uneven and I have no Brilliant Distinction points. They claim they do free touch ups. She's a fairly bad doctor. Every time I went in, she'd saunter in with her MA and they carried on with their own personal conversation. I don't like that they make you pay upfront even though insurance will cover. Example: I'd hit my deductible but it hadn't processed with Aetna yet so they charged me for the full bill. Had they they run through insurance first, I'd have paid less out of pocket. Instead they had a surplus of over $100 which I was later reimbursed for. Final straw was the unnecessary biopsy on fragile eye tissue which left a scar. I'll never go back and I encourage others not to go to her read more

My parents still to this day complain about the service and lack of information and time spent with them. My parents lived in the Virgin Islands and anytime they came back to the states to visit me, they would set up appointments with different doctors for yearly exams. So they found this place through insurance. My parents just went in to get their yearly body check for moles. Done this every year of their life since their 30s. They said she was extremely unfriendly to start off with. Let me also preface this by saying that my parents appreciate doctors that are to the point, so it's not like they are overly sensitive. Then she doesn't even do he full body exam and without saying a word, telling the what she is going to do, or discussing options or costs, just starts taking off moles. My parents were pretty flabbergasted and didn't even get a chance to really question or discuss it. Then she walks out of the room without so much as a goodbye or what the next step is. They had already paid their office/co pay up front but when they went to check out their bill was almost $1500 that they had to pay right then and there! My Dad completely lost his cool at that point because here they were just spent $2000 on plane tickets and in the middle of their vacation and they wouldn't even try to submit it to insurance. Let's start here: she's referred to as "Dr. Mandy" instead of "Dr. Warthan". Expect to wait at least an hour after your appointment time before you will be seen by "Dr. Mandy" (approximately 30-40 minutes in waiting room and another 20-30 minutes in the exam room). What was especially fun was hearing her laugh and banter with the patient in the room next to mine for 20 minutes (I keep an eye on my watch for that one) and then she had about 3 minutes for me. Nothing is free in this office: For example, I had to pay another co-pay/office-visit-fee for a mandatory follow-up exam that took place two weeks after a $600 procedure (this is what I paid, I'm not sure what she was also able to collect from insurance on top of that). And, like other reviewers, I too received a surprise bill a few months later for a couple hundred more dollars (positive: I was able to dispute this and they let it go). Most recently, when I called to ask for a prescription re-fill 7 months after the last time I had seen her, I was told you had to of seen her in the last three months to get any service without coming in again (so she can collect a few hundred dollars to re-diagnose an issue she is already completely familiar with). I'm not sure what unlucky individual has to see a dermatologist more often than in three-month increments, but only they have the pleasure of re-fills without emptying their pockets and losing several hours waiting in her office. She gave me prescriptions and that's pretty much the extent of her helpfulness. Once she finally came in the room, she only talked to me for a couple of minutes, typing on the computer the whole time. She just acted like she wanted to get me some medicine, take my money and get me out the door as quickly as possible. They have weird policies. And, as other people have stated, it feels like they're trying to take advantage of you all the time. My appointment was related to my scalp and she didn't even attempt to examine my hair or scalp. Absolute WORST experience with a doctor's office in my entire life! They sent me bills for "research" for a new drug...that I did NOT ask for nor authorize!!! There was no office visit...these bills came out of nowhere and no one ever told me about them until they arrived! Then when I tried to reason with them...they sent late fees of $100 for each of 4 bills...yes...$400 late fees for a bill of $107...which I didn't owe to begin with! After speaking to a neighbor who absolutely LOVES her dermatologist, I felt that I should have driven the extra distance to Plano. Her dermatologist conducted and in-depth skin check even checking her scalp and soles of her feet! My dermatologist used a pen to pull back my dressing gown and give me a quick scan as I stood up and I wasn't even asked to lay on the exam table where ample lighting was available. The so-called 'skin check' took less than 20 seconds! I was very disappointed with the service I received. My husband, (who also went for a skin check) came home to tell me that he was NOT impressed at all either. Against my better judgement (always go with your gut), I proceeded to have a couple of skin tags removed and once I was prepped, the doctor entered the room and immediately started removing the tags not even saying "Ok, this may sting a little, etc." I was completely caught off guard but again thought perhaps it was just me being overly sensitive. I was asked to return for a follow-up visit and the doctor asked me how things were healing but never asked to see the wound sites! I offered to show her and she said "Sure, I can take a look at them." - Isn't that the point of the follow up exam? I was also under the distinct impression that these folks were all about pushing other skin treatments of which I was less-than-interested in given that they couldn't even provide basic services. As an RN/Nurse Practitioner for 35 years, I had an appalling experience with Dr. Mandy Warthan. My leg was not even cleaned prior to a wide excision of basal cell ca. Only one swipe of alcohol before the tech deadened the area. The location of the incision was never cleaned. Dr. immediately contaminated her gloves by adjusting the overhead light then by feeling the unprepped skin around the op site. PA assisting did not gown or mask and had on unsterile exam gloves. Both had their contaminated hands in the over 1 inch wide incision that took two layers of sutures to close. The tech did not dress the wound as the doctor ordered. Tech told PA that was not how she did it. That was fine with the PA. Doctor never examined me even after telling me I had a 30% chance of another lesion. Spent $1800 in 2 visits and no exam. Put on an antibiotic for 30 days that cost $700. I have a $5000 deductible do all was out of pocket. In 35 years I have never heard of a preventative antibiotic for 2 weeks after the sutures are removed. Kickback? Maybe if they considered adhering to sterile technique and standard of care that would not be called for. STAY AWAY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FACILITY. read more

We were so disappointed with this practice. I do believe they practice good medicine however their billing practices are totally unethical and not standard to the industry. They will give you a quote for a procedure but don't be surprised when you receive a bill after your visit for the codes they simply "forgot to include in the quote". We are compassionate to the plight of the billing office and that mistakes are sometimes made but they offered no apologies for their extremely costly lapse. I have no problem paying for services received but am terrified of an office that will quote you one amount in the office but will simply send you a bill later for a "forgotten charge". Very scary as there is almost no way to understand these bills to verify what you are paying for. You just have to take their word for it and make payment. read more

Do yourself a BIG favor and stay away from this place! FYI - I tried to talk with one of the Warthen doctors/sisters that own this place and they will not talk to any patients - I had to talk to the Office Manager about my issues - wow - that shows how detached and on-concerned the doctors/owners are about the care of their patients. My families experience ...my daughter started complaining about a rash/itch so we took her to Warthen Dermatology...first visit was with a PA who said it looked like Eczema and recommended treatment for it. Rash/itch did not go away so we went back (second visit) and this time had exam with a Dr Bob M. - and he said again it was eczema and suggested treatment. Rash/itch was still there - (went back a third time) as my daughter was constantly itching herself - could not sleep or focus on school work etc and was in pain from some to the recommended creams/ointments etc that they recommended - and now they did a biopsy to see if they could find a reason for the rash/itch (more $$$ and now a hole in my daughters leg). Went back and again (fourth visit) were told it was eczema...and still no relief for my daughters painful and constant itching. Something obviously did not make sense (don't have to go to medical school to figure that out)...so we went to another dermatologist...who looked at her rash ... and immediately determined that it was a simple case of hives. WOW - four weeks of pain and suffering for my daughter , hole in her leg, plus almost $400 in office and test costs - only to find our that she had hives. Called office to complain and ask for some kind of credit - which the office manager brushed off. I will let the readers of this review come to their own conclusions ...but I will also add that since we made the unfortunate decision to go to Warthen - many of the people we talked to about our experience shared similar stories with us. read more

Do NOT go to this "doctor". She has horrible bedside manner, and she made me feel like I was intruding on her day. I went in for a whole body mole check, but when I told her I have bumps on my head, too, she asked where and didn't even look at my head. She said, "Feel around, and if you find one, let me know." She had prescribed ointment for a dry patch on my eyelid, and when I told her my chin gets little white bumps, she said, "Use that ointment. It'll probably take care of it." WHAT?!?! She didn't even look at my chin! She did 2 biopsies, and 1 took forever to heal! I have a bad scar from it, and it's been over a year. Her office called to say one biopsy came back as highly suspicious and that I needed to come back for surgery to remove it. I've since gone to another doctor who said it is NOT cancerous at all. Trust me when I tell you not to go here. I wouldn't wish her on my worst enemy. read more

Dr Warthen is very professional. She does not have a great bedside manner in that she can seem very short with you sometimes. I don't really have a problem with that as long as she does a good job. Hours are tough if you have kids in school that get out late. read more

Bottom line, I don't think Dr Mandy Warthan cares about her patients and she's untruthful. The full body skin exam takes her 5 seconds. She said she found 3 suspect moles on my back that she wanted to remove. Assuming that was true, I let her but was told that insurance only pays for 2 to be removed per visit so I would have to go back for a second visit. So, I believed them and did so. Turns out that isn't true, per my insurance. I guess they said that so they could charge me and my insurance for another visit. She also butchered my back and now I have huge, disgusting scars from a tiny mole removal. Another doctor in the office tried to fix her poor removal skills but it still didn't help (and again was charged for additional office visits). I would just not waste your time coming to this office. Keep looking for a different one. read more

I have been a patient for a few years and just changed to another dermatologist. The wait while there sometimes was as long as an hour after my appointment time. Also, I was told that Medicare only pays for 1/2 body check at a time. So I would need to make two appointments to get a full body check. (double the cost) NOT TRUE. It was also suggested that I could do an expensive facial treatment that required a chemical applied to the face with a hot light treatment that burns the skin. My new dermatologist said that I am not a candidate for this type of treatment as it is reserved for a more serious pre-cancerous facial skin problem. Also, every office visit required freezing spots and the removal of moles requiring stitches. I just had a checkup by my new dermatologist. Got a full body check using Medicare. Also, the collecting of money on the front end was questionable as I have more than adequate insurance. I just had my appointment with a new dermatologist and no money paid on the front end and everything checked out without any skin treatments. Next appointment in one year. I never actually got to see the doctor. When you call to make an appointment, you don't get to talk to a live person. You get to leave a message for someone to call you back. Lovely. A few phone tags later spanning over a few days, we finally connect and I make an appointment. A few days before the appointment, I get a message saying I need to call back to reschedule because the doctor is going to be out of the office that day. No problem that I need to work around that, but now we go through the whole phone message game again. I finally make my 2nd appointment. A few days before the appointment, the same thing happens. I get another message saying to call back to reschedule. Come on - it's not like the doc is delivering babies & has an unpredictable schedule! I left a message to reschedule yesterday morning at 7:30 AM & then a more frustrated message at 4:00 PM. I am frustrated with not be able to talk to a live person to make an appointment. I have my calendar out & I am ready to schedule. I am not ready to schedule when they call me back in the middle of grocery shopping or whatever. Almost 24 hours later, still no call back for the appointment. Move along folks. This one is not worth the hassle of the appointment. read more

I have visited this office once and will not visit again. Never actually saw a doctor but a nurse I think. My visit was for a skin check and I did have two places removed. As soon as they were done they tried to sell me chemical peels and told me they could get it to where I would only have to pay my copay. My skin looks great and I don't need chemical peels so they clearly have no problem ripping off my insurance company. Then as I was checking out they tried to sell me skin products I did not need. To whom it may concern My wife went to this place and came out looking like she had a stroke the right side of her face. We sent pictures of before and after to Dr Warthan and she said we should come in and let her do it to the other side of her face. I told her she wouldnt be able to see to drive a car if we did that. She refused to refund us or do anything about it. We are writing the board and better business bureau. I would not recommend going to this place. Not a professional business what so ever!!! I recently had a border surgery due to a mole coming back "bad." The Dr. Cut the area out and a nurse /nurse practitioner began to do the internal/external stitches. The Dr left and then came back to say she had to leave to get her crown fixed. She forgot to write my prescriptions out (main RX I am concerned with is antibiotic). I am a week post surgery and still no antibiotic. I get my stitches removed next week so at this point I might as well just hope I don't get an infection. I was really sore the day after surgery and now I find out I was supposed to have been givien medicine for pain. I don't think it was professional to leave a patient on the table and then forget to leave the prescriptions. I will be changing Dr's after I get my stitches removed. read more

Run, don't walk away from this Dermatologist. I truly don't think she even likes her patients. She talks to the nurse about how she dresses her daughter the whole time she is examining you. I had a tiny tiny freckle removed and now I have a 3 inch scar. She decided it looked suspicious so she removed it and then some. What's interesting is that she is also the pathologist that reviews whether the speck needs to be removed or not. Wouldn't this be considered a conflict of interest? I have very similar freckles that I've had another dermatologist look at and there doesn't seem to be a need to remove. In addition, when asking for my medical records you have to download a form from the office of the attorney general, complete and pay $25.00. Do yourself a favor....Avoid this clinic. read more

I just recently went to this office and although it just opened in 2010, the doctor has been practicing for longer than that. I checked that out before I went. I don't think I filled out 8 pages, but I have had to fill out more than that other places and the thing about those places is you have to write your address over and over. Didn't have to do that with Dr. Warthan's forms. I did not receive a Twitter form. I too was concerned about giving them my credit card number, SO I DIDN'T! They were fine with that. If they had refused to see me without the number, I would have left. But they were very kind about it and assured me that I wouldn't be charged for something without my knowledge and/or approval, whether I gave them the card number or not. After reading one of the reviews, I also called to ask them what credit card number they had on file and they said they didn't have one, so they honored my request! I found the staff to be friendly, which is always and indication of what the doctor is like. Dr. Warthan was very professional during our visit, but personable and as we talked a little more it's easy to see that she laughs easily. I much prefer that to doctor who has a God complex, like most of them do, or to someone who's too good to share a laugh with a patient. Having worked in a doctor's office when I was younger, it can be hectic, especially is you're just opening up the business, sorta like any other business. When I was there everything was calm and under control in spite of them having a solicitor show up for some kind of hand out My second appointment is this week, so obviously my experience was positive. I would have given a higher rating, but since to date I've only had one visit, a higher rating at this time would be like going on a date with someone for the first time and declaring you had found the man of your dreams. But so far, it's A-OK, as the rating says! So I would recommend you giving them a shot! Maybe the previous reviewer caught them on a bad day. I had been searching for the right dermatologist for over 3 years. One after another. All disappointing experiences, and no results. I suffer from a serious skin condition, and my self esteem was plummeting. A church friend recommended Warthan Dermatology. The entire experience at Warthan Dermatology more than exceeded my expectations. All the way from booking my appointment, going into the office (which happens to be stunning), the staff, and my visit with Dr. Mandy Warthan...and finally seeing results. These dermatologist should be working at a butcher shop. There Mose technique consist of removing all the cancer cells the first time due to cutting a slab of flesh off . I had Mose on my face before. It took 4 hours after 6 attempts. The place looked like a cattle barn moving people thru rapidly. This is indicative of the personal attention you will receive. Money Hungry Hippos is how I would like to refer to them. My family and I were patients of this office since 2009 and while I never really had a issue with service I had no idea how they would be once I stated I would be going to another office. My son suffers from eczema and psoriasis so we have had a lot of office visits with them paying every dime we owed them at the end of every visit, until recently the insurance didn't cover an additional $7.00 bill. I had no knowledge of the bill because they would charge me for every bill even though they have a contract with my insurance company to bill them first. So the $7.00 bill turned into a $150.00 for late fees, so I refused to pay late fees because they were hitting me with fees instead of just bringing up this $7.00 fee before hand. My sons new dermatologist office sent them a notice to transfer his medical records and because they are not happy that we left them and refused to pay the hiked up fees they will not send his records unless we pay. My insurance company has talked to them and they still refuse to transfer. My son has not had his next shot for Stelara because we were waiting to have documents transferred. read more

I've waited a long time to write this review as I did not want to have a knee jerk reaction. I was diagnosed with SCC and had MOHS in Dr. Warthan's office in November 2018. It was a horrible experience. This office tries to schedule as many patients as possible and delivers less than satisfactory patient care. It's never about the patient is always about the money. The wait time is long, the temperature is COLD, the clean up is bad. I was told I would wait 60-90 minutes in between layers during the MOHS surgery I would get called back and by the time she actually got in there the lidocaine wore off and I would have to be given 2-3 more shots. My SCC was severe and they took 4 layers. Dr. Warthan should not have done the closure. I should I have been referred to a plastic surgeon. A few days after surgery my site started to turn green and infected. I went in to get that looked at and she said "it was not infected" but then called her office staff in to "debride" the site. If is is not infected why did you debride it? One of the staff members called another one into the room and asked how to do it. My pain level was a 9 from the time I had the MOHS surgery until it finally heeled. I went for a follow up appointment several months later and was told I had a balance of $287.00. I told them I would not pay that until I received an EOB from my insurance. A few weeks later I got a bill in the mail for $39.00. The billing department is dishonest. I've since been diagnosed with BCC have went to anther physician and have had a complete 180 experience. I would not recommend Dr. Warthan or her staff. read more

Don't expect this place to call you and give you your pathology results over the phone... even after you sign a release in your 'new patient information'. It's a total rip-off to have to come back in and pay another $40.00 to have someone look at a sore on my leg that has already healed and tell me she scraped a bug bite off my leg. I guess if I do have skin cancer I will just live with it because they won't call and tell me. Won't be going back here Follow up to my original post: I was told by some girl who answered the phone that if I wanted to path results I would have to come in and sign a waiver and pay $25.00. I told her about the section in their patient information packet (which is ridiculous in length) about signing an authorization for release of test results, she proceded to tell me that was for something else. I knew what I read when I filled out that paperwork and wanted to see for myself. I emailed them and asked them how I could get a copy of my patient information paperwork that I filled out, they replied and said it would cost me $25.00 to get a copy of WHAT I FILLED OUT!!!! How is this place still in business? Im filing a complaint with the BBB. And I recommend anyone else who has a bad experience with them to do the same! read more

I spent over $700 on botox injections paying by the area within 8 to 9 days I noticed the area between my eyes was not fully immobilized and made an appointment and went back only to be told it was my eyebrows drawing together to make the 2 lines between my eyes. Less than 6 weeks I have complete movement over my entire face and will make an appointment with a reputable doctor this week. During check out I was informed the office charges an extra 5% for using my care credit card which offers free 6 months interest & when I asked if I could use my flex card for it they said yes and charged it. Within a week my flex card has been frozen until they can pull the payment because NO flex card accepts payments for botox. When I spoke to the office manager to complain she said it's up to the patient to know what's accepted and what's not. Topic: Complaint against Dr Warthan's billing office when receiving a refund in a timely manner, and how they originally messed up when they actually filed the claim. My wife had an appt with Dr Warthan on Jan 18th of this year. The doctors office had us pay the full bill up front as we had not met our deductible. This was required even though the doctor is in our network. This is actually another issue I have in that in network providers should be willing to file with insurance first and then bill later once the exact amount owed is known. Anyway, I talked to Dr Warthan's billing office the day after my wife's appointment to make sure that when they filed with my insurance, that they filed such that any refund would get paid to me directly from our insurance company in case we had paid too much. They agreed to do that !! I kept looking for the doctors claim to reach my insurance and be processed. As it turned out, by the time the claim reached my insurance company and was processed we had met our deductible. Thus we actually only owed the co-insurance of approximately $35. So now, we were owed approximately $380 !! Not a small amount of money. The claim was received by insurance on 2/3/17. So after a couple weeks, I called my insurance company on 2/21 and that is when I found out that insurance had sent the refund to the doctors office. Thus revealing that Dr Warthan's office had filed with insurance INCORRECTLY !!! I contacted Dr Warthan billing office the same day and found out that they had received the payment on 2/16 and that it would take a FEW WEEKS to get the refund to me. I told them that that was NOT acceptable (and I admit I lost my temper). I was told that was the process. Some process, they expect payment immediately, yet pay back after a few weeks. I called and complained to my insurance company and they conferenced in the billing office. They told the insurance rep the same thing, except they said that I not given them the chance to say they could expedite it and it would take 1-2 weeks to get a refund. That is correct (as I had lost my temper originally), and I still told them that was not acceptable at all. As it turns out, I did not receive my refund until 4/3. I had actually called the billing office on 3/28 and was told then that it was still getting processed !! So it took them from 2/16 when they received payment until 3/30 before my refund was processed. THAT IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. I have told my wife not to go to this doctors office anymore. read more
