I wish I had read these reviews before seeing Dr. Mandy. My primary care doctor recommended her after I moved to Texas in 2016. I had a small incident that year in which I was told that my insurance would only allow for half of my body to be examined at a time. My dermatologist in CA always did a complete annual exam in one visit. When I was given a second appt for the other half of my body, Dr Mandy said I could not have it checked that day because it had not been two weeks since the last visit. Apparently the new employee who booked my visit was not told about this "regulation". I was still charged for the office visit! This February I returned for an annual exam thinking that it has been my secondary insurance that required two exams for one body. (I changed providers because of that.) When I arrived, I was told it was Medicare that had this regulation. And that it had changed in 2014. I later called three other McKinney dermatologists. ALL of them do full body examinations. They had never heard of a doctor examining only half of the body at a time. Other experiences: 1. Extraordinarily long forms concerning payments and penalties if they were not made. 2. Being charged ahead of time for services and overcharged $39.00. 3. The follow-up surgery appt to remove stitches being an extra charge (not included in the surgical cost). 4. Being kept waiting 40 min for a 9:30 am in-office surgery appt. And then being kept waiting longer in the exam room. 5. Being forgotten for 30 min after the surgery. Dr. Mandy came in literally laughing and saying, "We forgot you! We said, 'Why is her chart still out?'" 6. Spending two hours at the office the day of my surgery, and Dr Mandy doing the surgery in 10 min & running out the door to another patient. 7. Not being given verbal instructions about the first 24 hours after surgery. 8. Only receiving a wound care sheet because I asked for one. 9. Being told I would have to "walk in" an Rx for pain because it was a controlled substance when I was supposed to be keeping my leg elevated. 10. Having to go to ER on Sat morning when I changed the dressing for the third time and it started bleeding. I tried direct pressure for 4 hours before finally giving up & going to ER. 11. Going back after 3 weeks to have stitches removed and not being called by my name and then being asked by the doctor where we did the surgery. My left thigh. Why didn't she read my chart before coming in the room? 12. Dr Mandy did not ask one question about my leg. She made no reference to the ER trip. I'm sure she didn't remember that I went even though I had called the office. The only thing she asked me was, "Are you ready to have me check your upper body now?" "Oh, weren't there a couple of other spots on your right leg we were going to biopsy?" She couldn't remember the surgery she did, but she remembered the next procedures she would have charged me for. 13. When I posted on nextdoor.com recommendations for a dermatologist, someone in a nearby community responded, "I worked for Dr Mandy in billing, unfortunately I would be VERY LEARY of seeing her for anything !!!!" read more

I was treated EXTREMELY rudely by the Warthan office staff and then saw Dr. Mandy for maybe 2 minutes (if I'm rounding up). It was the MOST unpleasant, unprofessional doctor's appointment I have ever experienced -- and I will never go back to Warthan Dermatology. I arrived at my 11:25AM appointment 3 minutes late; part of my being late was going to the incorrect office as Warthan has several offices in a row so I had tried to check in at the wrong place. I walked to the correct office and then as I attempted to check in, an extremely unfriendly, angry clerk loudly told me in front of others in the waiting room I was "15 minutes late and she wasn't sure there would be time enough to see me before lunch." I told her that I was very sorry I was a few minutes late but that she was mistaken; I was not 15 minutes late. She kept claiming my appointment was at 11:15 and we argued in front of the entire waiting room. I was very embarrassed by the whole episode. I then remembered they had emailed me an appointment reminder -- so I looked it up on my phone and showed it to her to prove I indeed had an 11:25AM appointment. I then told her that she had treated me very rudely and I felt she owed me an apology since I was not 15 minutes late. Her response was a very loud, "Well!!!" No apology -- not even an explanation of why she thought my appointment was earlier. I said, "well, do you think you'll be able to see me in the next half-hour before you take lunch or do I need to cancel and go somewhere else?" I then waited for at least 15 minutes in the waiting room before waiting 10 more minutes in the room I was assigned. Dr. Mandy came in to do a mole examination. She stood several feet away from me and eyeballed me -- and then said my moles looked fine, and she left without a goodbye. From reading other reviews, I see this is her standard practice. Highly inappropriate. I have had other dermatologists glove up and examine my skin/moles but Dr. Mandy barely glanced at me. Because of this unprofessional treatment from Dr. Mandy and the exceptionally rude treatment from her staff, I will NEVER GO TO WARTHAN DERMATOLOGY AGAIN. read more

To whom it may concern: I recently went to Warthan Dermatology for an annual skin check. Upon arrival, the doctor talked me into trusting her facility to do Dysport and Restylane. I informed the office that I love the facility that I have always gone and I was hesitant to use a product that I was unfamiliar with, such as Dysport. I have always loved Restylane Fillers and Botox. This time was so much different. Unfortunately, medically horrifying and damaging. I have emailed the office pictures of my face and tried to contact Dr. Warthan atleast 6 times. Dr. Warthan has had her office staff respond with usless responses to no avail of satisfaction. When Dr. Warthan requested I come in for more injections, I informed her that I had already been asked by every single person I have seen, "What happened to your face"? I will not come back in the office and I am rarely leaving my house. I went into her office looking normal and came out looking paralyzed on the right side of my face. I do not want more Dysport injections on the left side of my face because I cannot open my right eye all the way. I do not want the left side to look the same. I also have craters and ridges above my lips because of the Restylane injections and her procedure. Again, I have received numerous injections in the past and never had a problem. I simply told her that I contacted my Plastic Surgeon and I need to pay him to fix it, if possible. Therefore, I would just need a refund to be able to get my face fixed. She refused. She had her assistant call and tell me that I would have to come in and Dr. Warthan could fix my face. Dr. Warthan and her office are impossible to communicate with or resolve any matter with resonably. I informed the office that I was going to file a complaint with the BBB and the medical board of Texas if she could not call me back with a resonable response. She refused. Avoid this place at all costs! I was a patient of Dr. Bob Marinaro who works for Mandy Warthan. I suffered from a bad case of Psoriasis so I sought treatment at Warthan Dermatology center. Dr. Marinaro wanted to use a "new injection treatment" which he claimed was just approved by the FDA. He claimed that my insurance company would 99% likely approve it based on the severity of the case. The day after my appointment, a billing clerk from Warthan Dermatology center called me and stated, "Your insurance company rejected the injections Dr. Bob prescribed, and we need $1,235.68 for the time I spent on the phone with the insurance company trying to get your medication approved". So a clerk who likely makes $12 an hour wanted me to pay Warthan $1,235.68 for her making a routine call to my insurance company to get medication that Dr. Marinaro prescribed????? No thanks. I immediately told the clerk it would not be paid. Within days I received a boiler plate legal letter from Warthan which appeared was pulled off legal zoom.com threatening me with a "cease and desist" warning and demanding payment. I have sent all correspondence to a friend of mine who is a practicing attorney in Collin County who will likely file a TRO against Many Warthan and Bob Marinaro. On another note, I learned that Dr. Bob Marinaro has filed personal bankruptcy not once but TWICE in the last 7 years. No wonder he and Mandy are fee hungry. Apparently, Bob Marinaro bankrupted his practice in New Jersey in 2013 and attempted to file for Bankruptcy there; the trustee tossed the case and then "Dr. Bob" moved to Texas and took up with his fellow "doctor" Mandy Warthan. Marinaro then filed for bankruptcy here and was granted one despite claiming an income of $25K a month in his bankruptcy schedules. These two "doctors" are a disgrace to the profession. I would not be surprised if I saw this practice on "60 minutes" someday with video of Mandy Warthan doing the "perp walk". read more

I, too, have been to Dr. Warthan several times. I have had laser, Dysport, Restylane and Botox (obviously, not all at the same time but over the course of the time since the opening of her office). I have had WONDERFUL outcome from all my treatments. People frequently compliment me on my skin and are surprised when they learn my age. Dr. Warthan has not pushed me to any products or treatments I did not want. She removed a suspicious mole and am thankful that the pathology report was good. She is trained in dermatopathology so I trust her to see problems before they become an issue. Also, I'll take someone newly out of extensive training any day as they are more current in their knowledge base. Dr. Warthan has always been very professional and forthright . Her staff has always been efficient, friendly and courteous. A complete history is definitely needed since I have multiple drug allergies, have had precancerous places on my face plus a history of cancer in my family. I am happy to take the time to provide the details needed for quality care. As to the other reviews...anyone that has "my Plastic surgeon" and did not even allow Dr. Warthan to verify any problems...sounds like she just wants more money for more plastic surgery! As to "look with a microscope", you cannot put a person under a microscope plus once again, I would trust Dr Warthan who has extensive training and is very current in treatment approach. I have friends who were misdiagnosed by other doctors and now their skin cancers are in the lymph nodes! I would much rather be treated by a dermatologist who is in the select 3% of those who are also board certified in dermatopathology. I have highly recommended Dr. Warthan to my friends! read more

I HATE this place or more specifically MOLLY WARTHAN. However, The staff was friendly. But, Molly was extremely hurried and RUDE with me when she was assessing. She acted like she didn't want to hear what I was saying to her and tried to HURRY up to get out of the room. I was trying to let her know that I have had some success with a previous Skincare regiment from when I was in the military. I was only trying to get a refill on the same thing that worked for me in the past. But, MOLLY completely BLEW ME OFF and acted like she didn't want to help me. I asked her why the regiment that I used in the past when I was an OFFICER in the MILITARY actually worked... her RESPONSE was to shrugg her shoulders and say I don't know with an ATTITUDE and SMUG look on her face. The FIRST thing She told me was that what I had was hereditary and that I'm going to have it for life and that my mom or my father passed it on to me and there's NOTHING I can do to help myself (again, I used a regiment in the past that actually worked and was trying to get a refill)... She could have showed much more CONSIDERATION, COMPASSION & EMPATHY toward me during her evaluation. Total amount of time actually spent reviewing my problem was about five minutes or less with her. SMH. I actually don't have a problem with the diagnosis, but I have a huge PROBLEM with how Molly communicated and how bad she tried to make me feel (and succeeded). read more

Dr. Mandy is very arrogant and rude. She leaves a lot of work to her assistants. She took photos of an area and said she had to get approval from my insurance before she could move forward. She did however gain approval from my insurance to do a chemical peel for skin cancer. When I asked about the other area, she said she hadn't heard back. Now hers the odd part. Her office ran a special on injections. I paid for them and received them on that same day. I received a bill from her office for the cancer prevention peel saying the claim was rejected by my insurance. The same claim that was approved from my insurance. I called my insurance and they said the claim submitted wasn't coded correctly. It was cleared up and submitted again. When I called Warthan Dermatology I was told that they had received my claim and that they would credit back the money I had on account for injections I had paid for but had not received. It appears they incorrectly did not record the fillers I had received and they had a credit in my account that they took the balance of what they thought I owed. Confusing? Yup. I was honest and told them that I had received those injections. I have now a credit of 60 some odd dollars that I have called repeatedly about for over a year. After reading so many reviews I realize this is the norm. There are way too many dermatologists in McKinney that have their act together. read more

Patient Beware If you are reading this PLEASE go find another dermatologist before you set foot into this place. Questionable treatment aside, and after leaving the practice 5 weeks prior, when we requested medical records be transferred to another dermatologist, we were made to jump through hoops and they charged us $35 without our consent. Dr. Mandy also contacted my husband after hours to ask him why he was leaving and then charged us that same day $173.02 for 1.5 hours coded as "Prolonged Care without Contact". Yep, no office visit, my husband picked up an unsolicited call, and she billed us the same day she found out my husband was seeking another opinion. Although we are disputing the charge, Dr. Mandy continues to threaten us with her attorney when we make calls to inquire about the paperwork the insurance company requested from them and the bill itself. She even went as far as telling us if we posted anything on social media about her she would have her attorney send us a cease and desist letter. We have yet to receive any explanation of the charges but continue to receive bills and text messages saying we have a balance due. We've never experienced such incredulous behavior from a provider and feel it's our duty to inform our community so that they don't fall victim. Please read the online reviews. I can't believe anyone gave this place a bad review... weird. I just want to say I am so happy I finally found a good dermatologist in the Mckinney area. After trying a few over the past couple of years (to treat acne and also to occasionally have some "cosmetic" stuff done), I went to a fun event (which they have almost monthly) at this office. They had special deals on cosmetic procedures while at the event, and also the doctor, mandy warthan, stopped everything she was doing to talk to me about my general skincare. I made an appt soon afterwards, and what i have to say is this: it felt really nice to be LISTENED TO by a doctor, not just hurried out of the office. she seemed to really care about my needs. She is trying something new to treat my acne that the other doctors never even told me was an option (its working so far!!!) and she gave me botox that looks natural, so i look younger but dont have "frozen face"... yikes. ALL IN ALL--- go here! The staff is super friendly, its so nice and almost spa-like in there, and they truly CARE about helping you!!! read more

We actually saw both doctors at this practice. We saw Dr Marinaro and he didn't even try to help my daughter with a skin issue. He treated it as a fungus infection. We saw a new physician at a different practice and she looked at skin cells under a microscope and immediately said there were no fungal cells-- it was simply eczema. We thought since this practice had been recommended to us that we would try Dr. Warthan.... Dr warthan removed two moles from my second child. She was condescending and rude to my very nervous child, even cold. As a mom, I should have walked out-and regret that I didn't. She didn't care that the area wasn't numb, cut the moles and left bad scarring that is worse than the original moles. We will not go back. I just had a friend ask for a new referral. In talking with her, she told me that the Warthan office was offering $50 gift cards when she was there for anyone who left a positive review on Facebook! The staff and physicians here are top notch. I had no problem scheduling my appointment with a friendly staff member. I got a live person when I called. I was very impressed by the professional manner in which I was treated. These sisters, Dr. Mandy Warthan and Dr. Molly Warthan, are incredibly smart, and undoubtedly two of the most highly trained dermatologists in Collin County. They are both double board certified. I was seen promptly for my appointment and all of my questions were answered about my son's rash. As it turns out, he had the scary Staph infection called MRSA. Dr. Mandy Warthan was immediately concerned about his rash, started him on antibiotics and did a culture to confirm the diagnosis. Within a few days, his rash was dramatically better. Can't do zero stars. . .left this practice (no need to explain why) it was just time. The Dr. (Mandy) called to ask me why I was leaving. The call was at most three minutes. I really thought nothing of it other than good business practice. To my DISMAY, she billed my insurance company for that call. BILLED ME FOR AN UNSOLICITED CALL. We've been back and forth for months now. In this time she served us with a cease and desist because we want answers and we want this "questionable" fee/practice reversed. To ice this cake this Dr. submitted me to collections in the past two weeks (with no warning) with inflated fees tied to the original fee. Now, as of today we're turning this over to my legal team at a good amount of expense far exceeding this "questionable" fee. . .all based upon principle. This "doctor" is nothing but a rip-off artist. When required you to come in for two visits for a mole check - one for upper body and onw for lower body. Seriously?? My elderly father had a squamous cell carcinoma removed here. The wound got infected and wasn't healing well. She recommended a very expensive treatment that she said insurance wouldn't cover; my father did the treatments and paid for them in full (including a $120 "paperwork fee). The insurance DID pay and sent payment to her. My father should be refunded the amount that insurance paid; guess whose office hasn't refunded him a dime and won't even return his phone calls? Yep, Dr. Mandy. There are many, many many questionable medical and business practices I could cite but I'll leave it at this: stay far away from this practice. read more

I saw Dr. Mandy Warthan for a full body skin cancer screening. She was super nice, pleasant, attentive, and thoroughly checked all of my moles. She saved my life by finding a malignant melanoma on my back and I didn't even know that mole was there. She personally called me to tell me about my cancer diagnosis. She is a dermatopathologist, which means she is double board certified and looked at my cancerous mole under the microscope to diagnose it. She walked me through the entire process of having another surgery, what to expect, and how to prevent getting another skin cancer. Her entire staff is compassionate, caring, and sincere. I would highly recommend them to everyone. Best experience I have ever had at a doctor's office. read more

Dr. Warthan is by far one of the leading Dermatologists in all of Texas. I have seen multiple Dermatologists all over the state and she was the only doctor that gave me successful treatment for my skin condition. I cannot brag about she and her staff enough. It was truly a life changing experience and I know if you suffer from a severe skin condition as I did, you will understand. Dr. Warthan was very caring and concerned about my needs and made sure I understood everything she was doing for treatment. All my girlfriends see Dr. Warthan either medically or cosmetically and they all agree with me. I would highly recommend Dr. Warthan to anyone needing a Dermatologist. read more

I saw Dr. Mandy Warthan as a medical patient for acne. She understood how much my acne bothered me and how desperate I was to get my face clear. I had tried so many over the counter medications that never worked. She gave me a regimen of prescriptions to use on my face and I was clear within a couple of weeks, and I also decided to get laser hair removal with her aesthetician, Ann Marie, who took such great care of me. This office is professional, kind, and I can get all of my medical dermatology and cosmetic concerns addressed at one place. It's wonderful and I will definitely be going back more! read more

I drive 45 miles from Euless to McKinney and have been for the past year and a half. I highly recommend the physicians and very informed staff! My experience has been exceptional each time with A+ service! I've had Botox and filler both and would not go to another dermatologist. They were all extremely helpful in explaining the procedures and genuinely concerned, which is hard to find these days! They have great Dr. / Patient rapport, the office staff is overly friendly and courteous and so helpful when it comes to patients that have concerns about how a procedure is performed. Worst practice I have ever been to. Dr. Warthan's practice is unprofessional and unethical. I posted a comment on a site and received over 250 other horror stories regarding this practice within less than 48 hours. I am shocked that they are still able to stay in business. They don't deserve the 1 star but it wouldn't let me post otherwise. STAY AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PRACTICE! Do your homework and read their reviews before going to them.
