If you're tired of fast food but want quick service, try this local family owned and operated sandwich shop. Great food! friendly and quick service. usually quiet. very clean.

What a wonderful establishment! You begin with being greeted by cheerful order takers (two different young women on the two days we visited there in one week), who are trained to emphatically ask if you would like a pickle with your sandwich . Assuming that the pickle would be either enormous - or - extremely unusual in taste, shape, or color, it was underwhelming in a funny way that all that showed up on the tray was a typical slice of pickle found in the majority of sandwich shops/deli's/restaurants across the country. Aside from the quirky pickle situation, the service is outstanding and the sandwich size quality and taste produces an excellent well priced lunch experience. It appeared to be a family owned and run lunch restaurant with the owner and/or father of some or most of the employees. Very congruent group. Service and Food was so well done that after it being highly recommended to us as out of towners by locals, we in turn introduced Mane Course to another out of towner a couple of days later!

When we heard Jack Johnson as we walked in the door, we knew we weren't in a regular sub shop. Our Under Saddle sandwiches with pickles and chips were fresh and not too heavy for lunch. Glad we followed their signs coming into Charlottesville.

The bread is very good and the service was very friendly. Sweet tea was excellent! The sandwiches are completely average, nothing special at all here. The prices led me to believe it would be special or somehow unique but it was underwhelming. The decor is sparse and horse themed.

Very very pricey! Very little meat/veggies/ sauce. Kind customer service and clean bathrooms. I cannot justify the cost to return often

This is a clean, no-nonsense, down to earth BBQ place and it's delicious! I've been several times since they've opened & haven't been disappointed. I've come in during dinner & almost closing, and the food has been consistently good. The pictured dishes are the platters with 2 meats & 2 sides. I couldn't finish my platter & had the rest for lunch (still delicious cold) a couple days after. The standout for me (besides the meats) were the onion rings! These are NOT the pre-frozen ones. These are fresh-cut, seasoned, & breaded, and they are ADDICTIVE! They make other ones look sad. The baked beans are cooked with brisket pieces. The sandwiches are generous, too. The meats are smoked, tender & delicious. The sauces are also handmade, not bottled. So, you're going to have sample for your preferred flavor & heat. Not a problem because they have little sauce cups that you can use. I will definitely be patronizing this locally owned & run establishment.

Pachamama Peru was the fifth stop in my fall food truck hop! This is a food truck serving…read moredelicious authentic Peruvian food from meats directly raised on their farm and locally sourced produce from other farms. The first time I came across them was during the Saturday morning Downtown Charlottesville City Market (pre-covid). I've also encountered them at Charlottesville Festival of Cultures (pre-covid) and most recently at the Autumn Nights Thursday Night Market (which ended in October *SAD*).  We ordered the pulled pork sandwich, lomo saltado and tried a few empanadas (the chicken empanada & the beef, egg & olive empanada. Amidst everything eaten, the pulled pork sandwich truly stole the show! The sandwich included a heap of Wandering River Farm pork shoulder with pickled red onions and jalapenos on a light, fluffy bun. The meat wasn't thinly pulled like I'be seen in many American based pulled pork sandwiches, but more broken into small, juicy tenderized bite size morsels, lathered in an amazing creamy spicy sauce and then piled on top of the buns - overflowing onto the platter with a side of fried sweet potatoes. The fried sweet potatoes were also pretty good - they kept their shape and were actually fried in thin circular slices. Unfortunately, by the time we demolished the pulled pork sandwiches, they had lost some of their fresh crunch and thus were a bit softer than expected, but nonetheless the fried sweet potatoes were a good side dish to the sandwich! The lomo saltado was stir fried beef tenderloin with onions and tomatoes, served with a side of papas fritas (hand cut potato fries) and white rice. This dish was prepared on the spot - cooked over an open stove and thus the flavors were super fresh and worth the wait~ The empanadas had thicker, doughier shells (which I really appreciated) and were filled to the brim with meat. Not super spicy but the sauces that came with them really gave the flavor an extra
