Sandra is a doll! She took time to listen to my goals and ideas for my hair and shared a wealth of her knowledge and expertise with me. I went in for a cut and partial color the other day and she gave my dull, lacking hair some much needed dimension and life. Her work was well-suited, flattering, and instantly felt like a healthier head of hair! Definitely looking forward to my next visit with her. (Updated Sept 2019) I've been going to Sandra for a year now. I'm one of those girls that seem to bounce around from different salons, in search for a gal or guy that I can totally trust -- but Sandra has locked me down! She provides wonderful advice about styling and upkeep and is always so considerate about your own vision/ideas for your hair. I appreciate these small, kind things and I am sure I will be here at Mane for many more visits to come! Check out the new color she gave me (after I had a dark semi-permanent put in from months ago)

I rarely leave reviews but I need to for this. First of all, the cleanliness and steps they are taking for safety are so awesome! Secondly, Christine is AMAZING!! I have been going to the same girl for my hair for 10 years and then moved so was in search of someone new. Went to another place downtown and felt like the girl really didn't listen to me. During my consultation, Christine took so much time with me explaining everything and she actually LISTENED to me. I decided on a pretty drastic change for myself, to cut my hair into a bob. My hair is very thin and fine so I was so worried about it. A lot of times people say they understand the texture of my hair but they really don't (or don't know what to do with it/how to style it). Well, Christine did SUCH A GREAT JOB. Not only cutting it, but coloring it too (I'm pretty blonde). She wasn't pushy, she listened, and did essentially exactly the Pinterest picture I showed her! haha I am SO happy with my hair and overall it was a great experience! Thank you, Christine and Mane Salon! :)

I was recommended to this salon by a friend and typically don't do Yelp reviews, but i am so happy with my hair and experience i wanted to share the review. Rae turned my hair back to its blonde brilliance in a healthy way and gave a great consult beforehand. I have typically always been a blonde, after a decision to have my hair colored dark 6 months ago i didnt have much hope of returning back to my normal look. Rae took her time and processed the lift very slowly to maintain my hairs health and lifted nearly everything that what was left of my brown color. 10/10 and a great welcoming environment. Thank you staff of Mane!

I had the most AMAZING experience at Mane Salon. Previously at a different salon, my hair was over bleached (10 time....was at the salon for 12 hours). My hair thinned out so much (I was lucky I didn't go bald!). I was pretty sad since I knew I had to grow out my healthy hair and possibly stop coloring. Then I came to Mane and sat down with Alex. She was very very thorough with asking me what I wanted and also asked how my hair regiment was. Together, we figured out a color and Alex educated me so much on how to take care of this new color and my hair in general. I cannot explain how comfortable the salon made me feel and especially how comfortable and personable Alex is. I highly recommend Mane Salon!!!

I WITNESSED A MIRACLE AT MANE SALON!! TRACY... you are seriously the MVP of the year! She SLAYED MY BLONDE BALAYAGE! I went to LA last year and paid $500 for a blonde balayage. It was OK but nothing to write home about. Tonight.. Tracy sat with me and asked me what I would like. I, like everyone else, pulled up a million pictures I found on Instagram of every frosted blonde balayage! She took the time to walk me through the process and set expectations. Hours later.... BAM! WHAT?! IS THIS MY HAIR?OMG?! I LOOK LIKE THE GIRLS ON INSTAGRAM! THIS IS AN AMAZING BLONDE BALAYAGE! I literally could cry from happiness. I FINALLY have the hair color I have ALWAYS WANTED! I am more of a photographer than a writer. My review does no justice! This girl is GOOD! AND WHILE I don't want to tell everyone so she is not booked when I call, she deserves to be praised for her amazing work!

UPDATE TO PREVIOUS REVIEW: Alex is gone so be sure to find her at https://www.vagaro.com/us04/acroftloft! I feel for the staff that's still there (they really do have great stylists!) as Mane Salon has proven unsupportive, checked out and lacking in the ability to treat their employees with the respect they deserve as human beings. They couldn't manage their way out of a box and losing Alex is a clear deficit for this company. Alex is one of *THE BEST* hair stylists in Chicago - SERIOUSLY. She values her customers by not only creating incredible cuts and color but also by educating us (I'm a 5+ year customer) so we can keep our hair looking and feeling its best after we leave her magic chair. If you want a killer 'do, Alex Croft is your girl.

I'll let the picture speak for itself. This is Jessie's version after two attempts for an ashy blonde. The second she was washing out the toner and asked if I had time to come back next week before I even had a chance to see it , I knew then this wasn't gonna be good. Her exact words " I always try to tone to something livable in the meantime " Livable?? Not really the look I'm after...It's horrible!! This is the fix? She seems to lack confidence which results in her over stepping her words and ultimately made me feel super uncomfortable with her condescending words. Oh, and the owner? Nowhere to be found. I've never disputed a credit card charge in my life. Not even sure how the process works! But I will find out when I call my bank tomorrow morning. This is also my first yelp review! I have never wanted to leave a bad review for any business on yelp or anywhere for that matter. I'd like to consider myself a fair and honest person! But Silvia! after numerous attempts reaching out to you looking for a resolution you've chosen to outright disregard your customers. It's incredibly RUDE! Most importantly, this has nothing to do about money and everything to do about principle. What a shame to see a salon that once was great come down to this. There's one girl left. ONE. Says a lot...If you don't care about your employees, I shouldn't be surprised you don't give a sh*t about your customers. Bravo, Mane! Btw, the girls are down the street at RUUM if you're looking for em'!

Moved from Hawaii and needed an amazing colorist and luckily I found one! I got Tracy and she did an amazing job with my hair color. Normally being Asian and having very dark black hair that has been color treated many times- not many want or know how to do a good job with the picture I present. She not only made my hair look amazing, it also felt healthy. The price is a little steep but all in all it was worth it. I will definitely have her only working on my hair. She put in so much detail and work that I couldn't rave about her more to everyone. Thank you again Tracy. See you in near future appointments.

Marina is the best! I've been seeing her for a few years now for haircuts and am always so happy when I leave. I followed her to Mane Salon when she moved here from a previous salon! It's always a super low stress, fun experience to see Marina- I give her very little direction and she always knows what to do (trim, shape, layering, etc.) to make my hair look great. The salon itself is beautiful too and they use great products. As an extra bonus- everyone that works there is super friendly!

Just figured I could throw out some visuals of before and afters now that I'm at the blonde I want!!! It took about 6 months - but I love love love my hair. Christine worked magic - and was very upfront about the time, cost, etc. I mean, it's definitely going to cost you and I do suggest buying the products recommended to keep your hair in good shape throughout the entire process, but it was so so so so so worth it! I have difficult hair to begin with that didn't want to be blonde and now it's gorg, blonde, and still healthy!

There is an old adage: you get what you pay for and in the case of having a beautiful balayage treatment done by Chantelle, it is 100% true. Worth. Every. Single. Penny. (heads up: it's not inexpensive). I'm giving Chantelle at Mane Salon a glowing 5-star review because she exceeded my expectations in every way imaginable by: 1. Having great communication; 2. Being extremely thorough; 3. Amazing artistry; 4. Honesty; 5. Overall, fun, bubbly personality; and 6. Mane is a very posh salon. TIP: I highly recommend purchasing the protective treatments as well as the take-home treatment, a good sulfate-free shampoo, hair mask such as the Kerastase and Moroccan oil to maintain a silky, smooth sheen to your freshly color-treated hair, which without the correct products, could feel like a broomstick (if you don't, consider yourself warned). 1. GREAT COMMUNICATION. I told Chantelle that my hair has a tendency to turn orange and I wanted ashy blonde highlights to counteract the brassiness. Chantelle actively listened to my concerns and educated me about what she thought she could realistically achieve in one session in order to manage my expectations. Further, she conveyed to me that she thought my skin tone would not complement the greyness of ashy hair, which I truly appreciated. However, she suggested that she could achieve a compromise between the ashy blonde I wanted and a way to keep the tone complementary to my darker complexion. She also told me in advance her color placement strategy before she implemented it. 2. EXTREME THOROUGHNESS. In total, it took Chantelle 6 hours to complete styling my long, thick hair (it was my birthday and she knew I wanted to look extra special for my dinner plans that evening). She worked through my head and brushed each small section with expert deliberate precision so that whether my hair is styled straight or curled, the dimensional highlights and darker strands were integrated as if I had been sun kissed -- the underlying premise of the balayage technique. 3. AMAZING ARTIST. I cannot adequately convey how stunning Chantelle's workmanship is on my hair. I can't stop looking at myself because she did SUCH an amazing job transforming my hair from brassy orange undertones to radiant blonde sunkissed streaks. The pictures speak a thousand words and attest to why it's worth EVERY PENNY to go to someone who has the artistic vision to bring out the absolute best aesthetic version of your hair. She made me feel like a million bucks! 4. HONESTY. Sometimes you feel like you're being sold services that you don't need and this is something that I never appreciate. Chantelle was very good at conveying to me what products she recommended to maintain the structural integrity and softness of my hair despite it being so heavily color treated. 5. FUN PERSONALITY. 6 hours can seem extremely treacherous to sit around and have your hair done; however, Chantelle's extremely bubbly and upbeat personality made all the difference. It felt like I was hanging out with a friend who happened to be doing my hair for 6 hours. She is extremely easy to talk to. 6. POSH SALON. Mane Salon is definitely a posh salon and has very modern, eclectic decor. The products available range from Keraste to Oribe to Moroccan Oil, to a few other brands I've never heard of. The customer service is impeccable, starting with a great receptionist and friendly stylists who all seemed like a supportive team. If you've never colored your hair, need it to be corrected, or anything in between, I highly recommend going to Chantelle at Mane Salon. I simply cannot say enough glowing things about my absolutely fabulous experience with her. I have literally found my holy grail hair stylist (I'm not the only one; her hair extension clients from Utah literally fly to Chicago because she is THAT talented)! You will NOT be disappointed! I'm finally at the place where I am delighted with the color of my hair and ready to maintain it (previously, I had this addictive compulsion to go lighter or change it up because it just didn't seem like the right color).

I recently had my hair cut by Alex who is a manager and stylist at Mane and I couldn't be happier! She let me ramble about my ideas for the cut I was looking for while giving really helpful feedback and suggestions for products without being pushy. Ultimately, I totally trusted her judgement and style....she did not disappoint. I felt super relaxed and comfortable in her chair. I haven't had color done by her but I've seen her work and it's brilliant. She's definitely my gal when the time comes to change things up! Mane is a really cool salon with friendly staff and an overall modern/fun vibe. I highly recommend Alex as your stylist. You can tell she loves what she does...she's personable, professional and dedicated to her craft!

Mane Salon gave me the pick me up I needed! I'm a new mom and I've put off getting a haircut for the longest and as the picture can show, I was WAY over due for one. It's so hard to find any me time with an 8month old crawling around everywhere. My haircut was just what i wanted & more. I love that my stylist took the time to listen to my wants and needs. I got to keep my length and maintenance will be nice and easy for me! Besides the amazing cut, it's great atmosphere and very clean. Thank you Salon Mane!

I had a terrible experience last week at a different salon in Lincoln Park. I asked for golden blonde balayage and got a full highlight that came out orange and she absolutely fried my hair. I called Mane Salon and asked for Megan because I saw her amazing reviews on yelp. SHE IS AMAZING, A BALAYAGE GOD! She completely fixed my hair and did it exactly the way I wanted it. It was expensive but I bought product that she recommended that is great. She did not over sell and she was absolutely fabulous! I recommend this salon 1000%. WORTH EVERY PENNY! read more

Christine did an amazing job on my hair-100 stars if I could! She talks through what you want, down to the exact gradation technique she is doing and did a phenomenal job. I am super picky when it comes to people coloring/highlighting my hair and she did an AMAZING job. We added some blond balayage to help compliment and bring out the red in my hair to make it more of a strawberry blond. It's so much more dimensional now and the color pops! read more

I have been here for color twice (hilites only) and they do a very good, thorough job. I have no complaints, other than how long it took, both times (3+ hours) and the high prices. I don't mind paying a lot it's just that I am not sure why the prices at Mane are as high as they are. My haircut was pretty basic. I think the blowouts are awesome. ButI had to go elsewhere to fix the cut itself. The shape wasn't as precise as I needed. It wasn't a bad cut but could have been better. Overall, I think this place is lovely but maybe a little overrated. read more

Got my eyebrows done by Diana. She was amazing not your regular wax and go type of girl. My eyebrows were bad no shape or definition. She asked what I was looking for in regards to shape and she really got my eyebrows looking very good and explained every step of the day what she was doing and why. It made feel comfortable because most waxers just go in and do what they want. Definitely make an appointment with Diana, you won't be disappointed! read more

AMAZING RESULTS!!! For a long time I had been struggling trying to find the right shade of blonde that compliments my skin tone. Being an original strawberry-blonde my color had faded out as I've gotten older. The stylist that I was previously seeing did a great job with the highlights, but over time my color became too neutral and I looked washed out. Working with my existing blonde, Mary Rose added just the right shade to my roots and ends to bring back the color and warmth I lost. She really has an eye for tone, depth, and a true gift for color. Mary Rose did an amazing job and I couldn't he happier! read more

I've been working with Mallory Seisser as my stylist for about 5 years now. I met her when I walked into a salon in the south loop and have followed her to each salon that she has moved to over the course of the years. I would have to say that Mane Salon is my favorite salon that she's worked at by far and I recommend everyone to go to Mallory!!! She is one of the most well educated stylists about products and industry trends and I know and once she gets familiar with your hair and personal style, she will be able to read your mind and can do wonders for anyone I've referred 4 of my friends to her and because they loved what she was able to do with their hair, they left their other stylists and only see Mallory, now. Mallory is amazing at color and and I love the new the products she gets to work with at Mane Salon! Drop in and ask for Mallory. You won't be dissapointed. read more

I love this place! So happy I was recommended by a friend to come here. It's such a cute atmosphere. They are super friendly, as soon as you walk in they ask if you'd like something to drink. Christine is the best! You can really tell she is a color expert and knows what she's talking about. She explains to you exactly what she is doing and she works with you to get what you want while doing the least amount of damage to your hair. I've never received more compliments! I would definitely recommend going to Christine! I don't trust many with my hair but I 100% trust her to do an amazing job! read more

Kelly at Mane Salon is absolutely fantastic! I was in search of a colorist after moving from NYC to Chicago and was in awe over Kelly's instagram account. She is amazing at crafting natural, sun-kissed balayage. Being a gorgeous blonde herself, Kelly understands the "tone" every blonde is after. Its not easy to find a colorist who "gets it" so I am thrilled to have found her. Kelly contacted me a few days after my appointment to follow up on my hair and make sure that I was happy with it. I have never experienced this before and I think this shows how much she truly cares about her clients. Bottom line is Kelly is a winner and I 100% recommend her to anyone! read more

I don't trust just anyone with my hair. In fact, I would often travel to Miami just for the perfect "sun kissed balayage" at an expensive boutique. However with Kelly, she was not only welcoming, personable but an absolute HAIR GODESS. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and it turned out EXACTLY (if not better) than what I had envisioned. Sandra is my go-to for blowouts and she's an expert who takes her time to leave me with long, beachy Victoria's Secret waves. read more

I was trying to find a salon since it's almost summer and the other salon I go to was booked until June! Blessing in disguise! I booked an appt with Sandra and it was a great experience! She was really attentive and listened to what I wanted. When I showed her a picture, she asked me what I liked about it and she delivered! When I requested for my layers to be shorter, she said no problem! Usually stylist would be adamant about not cutting too close to my jaw because I had a round face and it was awesome to finally have someone listen to what I actually came in for. I was also taken to their professional photo studio and had copy of the pictures taken sent to me! I never wrote a review before in my life but I had to this time. I will definitely be coming back here! read more

I went to Mane after seeing their instagram, and it had been about a year since I had a haircut and my hair needed it badly! I am always hesitant to go somewhere at all to get a haircut because I always leave feeling underwhelmed and also I feel like no one ever knows how to style my hair from wet to dry. So I usually always schedule hair appointments for later so I can go right home and re-wash and style my haircut... well... not anymore. Sandra was amazing, styled my hair to perfection, I even went back to work afterwards and felt like it looked how I would have styled it. She explained to me how to keep my hair healthy and we set up a 12 week appointment to freshen up the layers. She is a sweet person who listens and she wont let you leave looking bad :) I am excited to venture out and even get some color soon! She is the first stylist I've loved since being here in Chicago- I highly recommend Sandra! The Salon itself is nice, and airy - the staff were all so kind and I like the Kevin Murphy line they carry as well! :) read more

I went to see Dani for a cut/color/style few weeks ago and was so happy with the experience from start to finish as well as absolutely loving my hair! From the moment I walked into this trendy salon, it had such a welcoming feeling. I was immediately greeted by the receptionist and Dani. Dani truly took the time to figure out what I liked, and didn't like about my hair and was committed to making sure I loved it when I left that day! My hair is naturally curly and can be a challenging texture to work with for many, but for Dani, she worked with my hair with ease and I absolutely love it! This salon is amazing. My hair stylist was Christine, and she was very informative and patient. The salon itself is very welcoming with beautiful décor. I received a conditioning treatment and an A-line bob haircut. I have had very long hair for many years, and after months of deliberation, finally decided to cut it short. Throughout my haircut, Christine continually explained to me every step of the process of cutting my hair and answered all of my questions, making sure I felt comfortable with the cut. I learned more about my hair than I had ever known during this visit. My haircut ended up being above and beyond. I have never felt as happy about a haircut as I did walking out of this salon. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

Mane Salon is such a legit establishment, and Tracy the Barber makes me look like a rock star every single time she touches my hair. She has been making me look good for almost a year now. She has never once disappointed me. Tracy is down for whatever crazy ideas I come up with, and she brings her own incredible styles to the table as well. I needed a haircut somewhere I trusted to be safe during Covid so I went to Mane. The covid precautions were good and I definitely felt safe. My only complaint was after being so excited to finally get a haircut the stylist cut my hair several inches more then planned. My hair was down to my belly button and I asked for 3-4 inches and then before you know it, it's just lower than my shoulders! She straightened my curly hair first so now it's even shorter when I'm home and it's natural. I liked her a lot and I'm sad to say I won't go back because I literally never wear my hair down now.. it's way too short! read more

What a stylish place with awesome down to earth and friendly service. I've changed a few places recently and was not able to find a stylist I was completely happy with. So I read some reviews on places close to East Village / West Town and I'm glad I did. Galina really hooked it up. I am no fancy guy, but two washes, a head massage, a coffee, and a cut that is spot on what I've asked for had me sold. Simply put: Tracy gave me THE BEST HAIRCUT I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. You might think I am exaggerating but I'm dead serious. Hear me out... FACT: I signed up for Yelp JUST to review this haircut. ANOTHER FACT: this is only the second online review I have ever written in my life. The first review was for an all inclusive resort in Costa Rica. Is a haircut from Tracy at Mane equivalent to a vacation in Costa Rica? I would invite you to be the judge of that (The answer is yes definitely, probably better. There are no mosquitoes at Mane). Everything was fantastic and the place is full service. Rachel was very helpful in setting everything up and making sure I was comfortable and well hydrated. They also fit me in on 24 hours notice and the booking process was incredibly easy- so from start to finish everything was above and beyond expectations. Tracy took her time, was very detail oriented, and sociable at the same time. She spent so much time working on the details of my hair that I was late for a date I had (poorly) scheduled after the haircut, BUT my date wasn't even mad BECAUSE MY HAIR LOOKED THAT GOOD. I've been going to see Galina since 2014. She's absolutely amazing. She takes the time to consult with you, really listens to what you're looking for, and gives you a very objective professional guidance on the direction to you want to take your hair. She does my cut and color, and I always leave feeling like I've learned new techniques or ways to keep my hair healthier. She doesn't spend time overselling products that break the bank, but she'll give great recommendations if you seek it. I moved to Seattle earlier this year, and have no intention of going to anyone else. Will definitely come back to Chicago to see Galina when that time rolls around again. read more

Let's just say the only person I trust with my hair is Galina! I have been with her for years and when we first met she brought my hair back to life. She transformed it from dark brown to a beautiful natural blonde with balayage. Every time I see her we're always trying new techniques, she is truly an amazing colorist. I have been seeing Galina for years. She is hands down the best! She has a great gift for color transformation. Her portfolio online is what got me to go to Mane in the first place. This was my first time at Mane and I worked with Christine. I didn't show her any pictures and only vaguely alluded that I wanted my dark hair to be lighter. On top of that I needed to be out in 90 minutes. Christine thoughtfully used no heat bleach, fit in a quick haircut and a conditioning treatment. Mariella is very attentive to my needs and is hilarious and always fun to talk to..I have multi dimensional red hair and it always looks natural, rich, and shiny. Just moved to Chicago and was looking for a new salon - glad I checked Yelp! I booked over the phone a week before the apt, super easy. I received a confirmation call and text which I always appreciate with my busy schedule. Parking outside is pretty slim, so just make sure you leave time to find street parking if you are not ubering, etc. Check in was super easy and they got me really good tea as I waited. Kelsey was great and ensured we were on the same page before she got started with the cut and color. Easy conversation and she always made sure I was taken care of (got me a coffee, made sure I was comfy),etc. My color turned out great and my trim good but basic, which I asked for. Overall, would highly recommend - just make sure you leave plenty of time if you need any type of toner correction (checked in at 1 left at 4:45). First I will start with what was good…read more 1. The dye job ended up beautiful. I came in with pretty unclear instructions and reference photos and both the stylist and the owner were able to figure out what fit my needs. This seems to be a huge strength here. 2. They were able to fit me in last minute. What was bad 1. The total time listed online was 1.45 hours, the service ended up taking 2.45 hours. I have been to many salons and never had my hair take that long, especially when I was getting all over color and a blowout (no haircut). Perhaps this was due to me booking last minute. However, the website booking made it look wide open and I think it is the responsibility of the salon to accurately represent their booking capability. I would not have booked with them had I known what experience was to follow. 2. The salon overall seemed overbooked and people were bouncing around. Three different people worked on my hair. Personally, I really didn't like this set up. I like to build a relationship with my stylist and this hectic atmosphere was not synonymous with that 3. The blowout I had was so uncomfortable. The rollers were tangled up in my hair and I could feel it ripping out as the stylist took them out. I have never have a blowout be so painful. My hair had so many split ends after I looked in the mirror at home. 4. My hair fell the moment I stepped outside. Granted it was a windy day, but my hair doesn't typically fall that fast. I think this may have been due to the stylist rushing at the end. On one hand I'm glad she did because I had been sitting alone for quite some time, but on the other hand I paid for essentially nothing. My old stylist back home (moved cross country) had no problem giving me a blowout that lasted at least a few hours. Even on windy days. 5. At one point the owner took my stylist in the back and seemed to be scolding her. This is never something a new client wants to see. I immediately felt anxious that something had gone wrong with my hair color. It ended up great but tbh experience was awkward and handled strangely in my opinion. 6. Finally. The price came out to $260 for all over color and a blowout. I wouldn't mind this price if it wasn't for the lackluster experience. Hair salons are charging luxury prices without offering luxury experiences. The pricing structure is also strange. They charge $60 extra for toner but I have never had a color job that didn't need toner to look good. It feels strange to not include it all together. The toner charge was added after which was a surprise because toner has always been included in the price. To be clear, the website did ask if I wanted to add toner for $60. I thought that was for someone coming in looking just to tone and not add more color. Perhaps this was my mistake but I found the whole pricing structure strange. A few other things to note: water was offered but never given and they only accept cash/zelle/venmo tips. Overall this salon was not a fit for me. A lot of this is subjective preference but I think it's important that people understand what environment they are paying for when they sign up to spend hundreds. That being said, the color was beautiful and I am grateful for that.

Came here because it was close to work and I needed my nails done on a Monday. I didn't have an…read moreappt so I was a walk in, and they said they could do it but with just a small wait. I ended up waiting 30 minutes with still no service, and one of the workers was arguing with who I assume was the owner outside. Two other girls who did have appointments were also waiting to be serviced. I started to read how bad the gel is here and ended up walking out and leaving. Won't be going here ever again! Had really bad vibes!

The stylist that I USED to go to had emergency surgery and, while I typically stay loyal, I had a special function to attend and couldn't wait. I'll admit that, at the time, I thought this was going to be a one-time hair appointment. However, because of the service and professionalism that I experienced, I've decided that this is my regular salon from now on. When I originally called and explained my urgency, I didn't know anything about the salon or any of the stylists. Nico was very accommodating to my schedule which was already a big plus for me. As soon as Nico started working with me, I could tell that I was in the right place. She made suggestions without being pushy, obviously had a lot of expertise, and worked her magic. When I left, the style that I hoped was going to just be 'good enough' to get me through my function, ended up being one of, if not the best, styles I've had. I didn't have time during the first visit to have any color done (okay, maybe I had the time but was nervous because this was my first time at the salon) but after I saw the results and had so many compliments, I made another appointment. I've been going to Nico ever since. The cost was higher than the salon that I used to go to but it wasn't enough for it to be a deal breaker for me. I believe that I get every penny's worth of experience each time I step into this salon. read more

My experience at Mane Salon was second to none. As I entered the salon, I was greeted by my colorist, Kelly, who was patiently waiting for me at the front desk to begin our services. She made me a delightful cappuccino and offered me water, as well. The consultation was not extensive, but she knew in a matter of a couple questions what I wanted and what I did not want. She pulled up pictures based on my description and was absolutely spot on. Throughout the service, she was sweet, gave valuable advice and made me laugh. I have found that this is not easy to find in a Chicago salon, as the stylists and salon often feel cold and sterile. Kelly was extremely polite to the assistants who were helping her, and found opportunities to kindly teach them during the process. She was also very respectful when stepping away to check on other clients. It would not have mattered how my hair turned out, as the experience was enough for me. Kelly talked me through the toning process in words I could understand, and dried a section of my hair so she was sure I liked it before finishing the style. The blow-dry and style were beautiful, the blow-out lasted days and the color could not have been more spot on. I was in and out in a timely fashion which is the cherry on top. I cannot wait to refer all my friends to Kelly at Mane Salon and am very excited to be back!! read more

I have been here twice, with wonderful results thus far. The first time, with Tera, for a cut and style, before I went back in for a really in depth change of hair color. First, I was in to cut and style my hair, after months of working nonstop and not having any time to tend to my locks. I told Tera what I wanted, she made sure we were on the same page, and she gave an amazing cut. My colorist, Patrick, was also there and sat in on the consult, so he would know how she was cutting my hair, and how he was going to color my hair in the next few weeks. He said to wait a few weeks before coming back in for color, to get used to the cut and how to style it. Next, yesterday, I came in for color. I had gone through about 100 pinterest screenshots and we decided upon a few we liked the most. Then came the process. First was a full head of foils, then hand highlighting, all over color to balance, and oleo plex. It was a long process, but soooooooo worth it. So happy with the results, my fiance went bananas over it! I've never seen him so excited about me coming back from a salon. They even have a mini photo shoot area for before and after pics. Will be back in a few weeks for a trim and about a month after that, for a color touch up. Great place, great customer service, and great staff. read more

Chris is the absolute best stylist out there. After going to several different people across the city, I finally found my person. Finding a stylist is so important and can be extremely difficult. I can honestly say she is amazing at her craft and is always taking time to improve methods. I met her nearly a year and half ago and will not go anywhere else. She knows color so well, and I promise if you make an appointment you will not be disappointed. My hair was legit several yellow tones and torn at the ends. As soon as I met Chris she sat down with me, and really took her time with me to find out what I wanted to achieve with my look. I've never had anyone really sit down take the time to go through pics and help guide me to picking the perfect color and cut. As you can see from the pics she did an outstanding job. From the color to the cut she didn't miss a beat. I completely trust her judgement and every time I go I get so excited because I leave feeling so fresh and beautiful. Also, I'll note that often you'll go to salons and the stylist has multiple people in the chairs, not at Mane they truly all take their time. It's very obvious, they get to know their clients. I really dig Mane Salon. I have naturally dark hair and wanted to go blonde a while back. Like, really super blonde. I play music and perform live comedy, which means I'm always onstage in front of a crowd. I knew I was kinda taking a risk suddenly going bleach blond because, if it didn't turn out great, I was gonna look really dumb next time I got onstage. Alex has always cut my hair and done an outstanding job. I approached her with the blond idea and she gave me a detailed idea of what I would need to do to make it work. She made my hair bright white and I bought the products she recommended and have been keeping up with it. My hair looks super good and many of my music and comedy friends have told me they don't know how I pulled it off but that somehow bright blond hair looks more natural on me than my actual natural hair, haha. Alex absolutely killed it, especially considering how drastic of a change it was. I legit don't know how or if I can ever go back to my natural color lol TL;DR Alex is awesome with cuts and/or color. She knows her stuff and will be real with you about what to expect yet somehow also manages to work magic. Go see Alex for good hair. For real. read more

I went to Mane for the first time to get my hair colored by Kelly. I arrived with what I thought was good, healthy hair and was blown away with the magic Kelly did. Kelly is sent from the gods!!!!! Turned out my hair was over processed, a tone that was not complementary to my skin, and overly saturated with bleach- making it look a lot worse than it was. I gave Kelly full creative control, and she talked me through the process every step of the way. First, she did a process that tinted my roots back 'darker' which I was initially nervous about but I was reassured it would be only slightly deeper and nothing to be afraid of. She then added lowlites to my ends to break up the heavy bleach. Lastly, she lightened only a handful of pieces using a gentle product to preserve the integrity of my hair. I really respect her consideration of the health of my hair, and she did what she thought would be the healthiest option rather than some crazy idea I may have come up with. The prices appear to be steep but for the quality of service you receive in this competitive market, it's absolutely worth every cent. I would recommend Kelly 10 times over!!!!!! read more

Amazing place and very friendly professional environment! All the staff is very nice and friendly they make you feel very comfortable which I think is highly important for every salon and of course quality which is always my main priority when it comes to my hair or nails or any other procedures. Galina has been my hair stylist for years from the very first time she did an excellent job n been doing it over n over since which is not that easy because I have very dark hair and to get it perfectly highlighted blond without burning it is a challenge but not for her I can trust her with my hair completely! It was a great to experience a new high quality products n beautiful new place as it comes to the pricing I think its more then fair for such a quality service and products! If you are a perfectionist when it comes to your hair as I am it's totally where you want to go to and I would definitely recommend Galina she will bring your hair styling experience to a different level better and professional level! Atmosphere: Mane is about as good as any salon experience can get. The space itself is gorgeous- lots of custom made fixtures, natural wood- it's modern and relaxing all at the same time. They have awesome coffee and fantastic hair products (Kerastase, Oribe, Moroccan Oil), I'm already planning to go back and pick up a few things. Color: I followed Kacie to Mane from another salon and could not be happier. She is a seriously amazing colorist, and will give you exactly what you want but better! She has been doing a soft ombre on me for over a year now and it's the type of color that just gets better with time. I went to a holiday party after my appointment and got so many compliments on my hair, I highly recommend her! Price: Their services are not cheap, but it's pretty comparable to anywhere else in Chicago and I really think it's worth the money for the experience and the great results. Overall: Stop in, check out the great space and treat yourself to a day at Mane. I would (and have) recommended it to all my best friends and can't wait to go back! read more

The most AMAZING experience. Gorgeous decor. Friendly staff. Relaxing environment. I've been going to Sheri for over a year now for my eyebrows. When she moved to Mane, I followed her because she is the VERY BEST in the city! She has completely changed the way my face looks just by shaping (what used to be) my over-plucked, thin eyebrows. Now, I have thick, beautiful brows that accent the shape of my face. I LOVE them and highly recommend Sheri! But that's not all...it gets better. Danielle Keller is a rockstar stylist. I walked into Mane today with long, heavy, flat hair and Danielle took the time to understand that I wanted a fresh, new look, but nothing too dramatic. It's safe to say that she gave me the best haircut I've ever had in my entire life....and I've had a LOT of haircuts. She's professional, personable, and genuinely interested in giving her clients the best experience possible. She's also a MAJOR PRO at balayage highlights. I'm obsessed with my new look! This is about two wonderful ladies - Danielle Keller, hair and Sheri Cox, brows and makeup Danielle Keller is a truly amazing hair stylist! I am so grateful for her and I highly highly recommend her. She saved my hair after I had a bad experience with my hair color at another salon. She knows what she's doing and takes her time with your hair! From hair color to cuts to blowouts, Danielle does it all well! She even cuts my daughter's hair. Danielle is top-notch. Not only is she very skilled and talented, but she is very personable and professional. Sheri Cox is wonderful! She cares more about her clients' eyebrows than anyone I have ever met! I have been seeing Sheri for years now and she is quite the perfectionist. She takes her time to make your eyebrows absolutely perfect. I always get compliments on my brows thanks to Sheri. She has done my makeup many times also and always makes me look natural! I highly highly recommend Sheri for brows and makeup. When the time came for me to find a new stylist, I was overwhelmed with options and knew I just wanted to find someone who could make me feel taken care of, who would be able to educate me and answer my hair questions, and overall be a genuine human I could be honest with to help me achieve the look I wanted. Mary Rose at Mane is all of those things and more! She takes her time to listen and understand what I want before each appointment, has given me such great advice on how to keep my hair looking healthy and fresh, and gave me the best haircut I've had in years. Mary Rose gave me exactly the color I've been looking for. After five months in between appointments I came back and my blonde was not brassy but still held up to the original color work - and I attest that all to Mary Rose's expertise and education on how to keep my hair looking good longer! Christine is Beyond Amazing - I really did my research online and looked at dozens of salons and Christine from Mane Chicago kept coming up with all kinds of great reviews. I found Mane Salon online and immediately loved their website - loved the layout and the whole vibe. I read the bio's on all the stylists but kept coming back to Christine What happened next was - I went for my first appointment, I loved the Salon - Cool, Edgy Decor, Cool Professional Stylists. Christine talked me through options on color and style - I right away knew i would trust her - not matter what! I love my new hair color and style, Christine was so patient and great fun to talk to, she showed me how style my hair with ease for the best results. I will be back again and again. I opted for a balayage taking my flat way too dark color to a Fresh, Sexy, Vibrant Color with Depth and Dimension and a Bouncy Cut that really suits my personality and my profession. I cannot recommend going to see Christine enough! After a summer of beautiful blonde balayage (also by Christine), I was ready for some fall. I wanted chocolate covered cherry but didn't want the upkeep of having red in my hair. For a bit of backstory, my natural hair color is dark brown and contains hints of auburn (although it's been a while since I've seen my natural color). Christine was extremely patient with me as I went back and forth on what I wanted to do. She ended up creating a beautiful, low maintenance color that was everything I wanted. She is truly an artist! While it's not the most inexpensive, Mane Salon is totally worth it, even to a girl on a budget like me. I also want to say that Christine is one of the most caring people and not only do I enjoy getting my hair done by her, I truly enjoy and look forward to visiting with Christine. Last weekend I visited this swank salon, and was very impressed! I followed my stylist Sarah Davis there from another salon: she is amazing! So sweet, and really listens to what you want and need. I told her that being that I'm a mom of a toddler and a full time student, and that this semester was going to be very busy, I needed a cut that would allow me the least amount of get ready time. I showed her a picture of what I was thinking, and she pulled it off perfectly! Then afterwards, she took me down to the lower level to take selfies in their dedicated selfie stage equipped with beauty lights to take the perfect pic! What a cool idea! As for the rest of the salon experience, I was warmly greeted into this urban space with a cappuccino. My shampoo was heavenly and smelled amazing. I HIGHLY recommend visiting Sarah at Mane--you won't be disappointed! read more

Mane Salon is amazing! I searched around for a stylist that knows how to cut and shape curly hair. The girl that initially took my call listened to me and knew to recommend Tracy as my stylist. Tracy did an amazing job fixing my hair. Below is the before and after. She met with me to find out the texture of my hair and what i wanted to do with my hair. I get married in February and with curly hair is is really important to get the shape and texture of your hair correct. Tracy was very careful to find out what I wanted and in our next appointment she spent hours getting the results we talked about. I feel really lucky that I found Tracy. The staff is amazing too, the whole salon works as a team to help each other out. I am soo happy with the results and will continue going to Tracy. Rachael Z is seriously as good as it gets! She has been cutting my hair for almost 3 years now and I have never had a cut that I didn't like. When I first started going to her I had a short pixie cut but was hoping to grow my hair back out - she did an amazing job of styling my hair through all of the "awkward growing out" phases and suggesting current and trendy looks. In addition to cutting my hair she has also been my colorist. I have never gotten more compliments on my hair color then when Rachael has done it! We have experimented with everything from funky colored highlights, to rich browns and trendy reds. None of the colors have ever damaged my hair and they have all lasted longer than usual. I was looking for a cut with bounce. Chantelle is a WONDER with her tools. First, my hair is super straight and heavy, so it falls flat (womp womp). I've tried haircuts that lend themselves to bouncy results, but without spending an hour with a roundbrush and possessing AP-level wrist skills, it's not really possible to re-create what stylists usually leave me with. ENTER CHANTELLE. I don't know what sorcery she conjured but my hair has layers that look fluffy and sleek and bouncy (all at once!) with minimal upkeep required. She somehow managed to give my hair body and take away upkeep. With just a blow-dry, the style she crafted looks like I had my hair "done" for the day. Bottom line: If you want to feel fancy every day, run don't walk to Chantelle!! read more

I CAN'T TAKE IT!!!!! I love my HAIR!!! I am in the mirror since I left! I have to say Mane was an experience in a nutshell! From the moment you walk in you feel at ease, relaxed and at the right place. The salon is amazing design wise - unique like no other-custom made from top to bottom...the lighting just right! Champagne, Wine, Water, Tea and the bomb Cappuccino offered while you sit and chill and enjoy your hair/massage wash ugghhhh..to die for! I've been to Mane twice in three weeks for color, and Kerastase treatments and my hair is looking amazing! I'd recommend you all to stop in, kick back and enjoy the very same experience I had!!!! Alana is the best. I have been a client for the past two years. When I first came to see her, my hair was somewhat of a mess- relaxed, over-processed, breaking off, etc. A friend suggested that I see her and I have been going ever since. Alana told me exactly what to do and not to do with my hair and I really have seen a difference. What I also appreciate about Alana is that she is knowledgeable and works wonders with all types of hair: natural, relaxed, curly, textured- it doesn't matter. She really is a "master" stylist. I always recommend her to any friends of mine that are looking to switch up stylists. She really is top notch. I found Galina at Mane salon through yelp actually and decided to trust her glowing reviews and go for it. It was the best decision I have ever made. I have never gotten a haircut that I love so much. She did her version of the ombré in a balayage style and I get compliments almost everyday. People love my hair and this is all new to me. It's so perfectly blended and natural and the way she cut my hair makes it super bouncy and full of life. Galina is amazing and I am so glad I found her. Not only is she talented but she's absolutely gorgeous and so knowledgable. My hair has never felt and looked better after her recommendations and my session with her. I highly recommend.
