This information is incorrect as it's not even close to expired (was just purchased a few months ago) Also, he NEVER asked to see it....I had the gift card with me at the time and would of gladly showed it to him. While I love how my hair looks, I also love how Lorenzo is all about keeping my hair as healthy as possible. I booked an appointment with Destiny to get pink hair right before my birthday. The shampoo was OUTSTANDING, it was like a neck and head massage i didn't know I needed. My hair was lightened and colored in less than 4 hours which is amazing. The products used here are so nice, no harsh peroxide smell on my head! I wanted to let me Grey hair out and they remove the dark color from my hair. They did a two step color removal process and than bleached my hair half orange. I had to hide my hair for two weeks until I could go back to do the next step. I paid $500 for orange hair with grey roots that I had to hide for two weeks. In my second visit they turned my hair into yellow, grey and black and charged me $350. I am still hiding my hair under my hat and waiting for my badly bleached hair to recover before I find a new hair salon. I would not recommend this salon for any color. They are experimenting and doing guess work especially with dark hair. I asked for my money back but they did not agree on it. If they were a business with integrity they would have given me my money back! This is not a business with integrity. I believe as a customer if I am not satisfied with the results I should be able to receive my money back since I can't get my hair back they at least could give me my funds back! read more

Lorenzo is the best! It was my first time going to get my hair done since Covid. Everything was immaculate, the pens were sanitized, Lorenzo sanitized the entire station in front of me when I arrived, there was only one other stylist in the salon appropriately distanced and everyone wore masks so that made me feel comfortable from the beginning. Lorenzo took the time to review my hair color with me and helped me achieve my hair color goal. My haircut is amazing and the conversation was kind and interesting. So clean and sanitary! I was nervous to go but all of the covid upgrades the salon has in place made me feel comfortable. The smocks and towels were fully sanitized. Each came in sanitized packaging as well as everything I touched. They have sanitizing stations in the salon and everyone wore a mask. Not only did I get an amazing cut and color by Lorenzo but I felt safe getting it. I was so blown away by the measures the salon has in place to prevent Covid spreading. read more

Lorenzo is a hair magician! My mom has been going to him for years and always has the most fabulous cuts and colors. I met Lorenzo when I was considering using his services for my wedding and boy am I glad I did! He whipped my hair into a gorgeous updo in a flash--I couldn't believe how good it looked and how fast he did it! Needless to say, he then did my hair for my wedding as well as the rest of the bridal party and we could not have been more pleased. He's extremely personable and a pleasure to be around as well. Salon Soca is fantastic! Weronica is absolutely the only stylist to really make me LOVE my hair. She even bought me a cookie while my hair was waiting for the dye to set in! I have long long hair. I used to rarely get it cut and would trim it myself at home. I decided to stop in after having my hair done by Weronika for a photo shoot project, and really loving her personality and creativity. She's got a lot of talent! I literally put all the decision making in to her hands. She performed WONDERFULLY!!!! I got some bangs on her recommendation, and a bit of color underneath. My hair felt GREAT. It looked great. It was simple, pretty and so not Cher circa 1975 anymore. I picked up a few Aveda products (the smells, oh man, love these products!) and I probably strutted out of there like a peacock I felt so darn good. The rest of the staff is friendly, and funny. The music is good and they'll change it if you ask, they are always good at accommodating tight schedules. I've been twice so far, and in a few weeks I'm going back for a summer 'do. I will never get my hair done anywhere except this Salon. My stylist is Weronika, although stylist may not be the right word. Life-changer? Self-Esteem Booster? And I normally find salons to be a bit awkward because I always seem to run out of conversation with the stylist after about two minutes. I was lucky enough to snag one of the discounted services by Sara who was testing out for her creative coloring technique. She ended up giving me an amazing color using the Ombre technique with a color that was not the usual "carmel" that I always end up with from other places. Drinks were offered, Magazines were given, and Conversation flowed effortlessly And get this, even though I was just a hair model, she gave me the best head massage (honestly it felt like craniology) and complimentary shoulder massage after the rinse (#$*@#$*#@!) This place (Tara, specifically) was recommended to me by my Mom who used to go on the regular before she passed away. Tara did such a great job for her, including a consistently great cut and very natural-looking highlights. My Mom's bestie has been going for much longer and also gets cute cuts. She does a great job on the bird's nest *I* bring her as well. Not only does she know what she's doing, but she's just really sweet and easy going. The other staff there are really friendly too. Plus, it's very clean and comfortable, and they carry a large array of products. The only drawbacks (and I hate to mention *any*) are that the prices are a little higher than I'm used to (keep in mind that Tara is totally worth it and I don't have a ton of city-price comparison so I could just be dim here) and the location can be a little challenging for those who don't drive (and even those that do, parking-wise). But, these are not dealbreakers, just things to keep in mind. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Salon Soca... I've been going there for about 2 years now, regularly visiting Joe Chlebeck, a wonder with both cutting and color. I've referred many (male and female) friends to him, who have all been pleased and in turn referred their friends (see a pattern here?) The entire staff and owner are very cool, laid back and friendly. It's not stuffy at all, despite the upscale prices/products/talent. They have a referral program which gives both the referee and referrer great rewards. There is always street parking around the salon as well. I highly recommend giving it a whirl. read more

I spent 25.00 to get my hair highlighted by a student who was learning . I am not complaining about the teaching aspect. That Is what I signed up for. But, I had to explain it again, to MARY that what I wanted, was not what the young student had finished. She was nice, and polite, and was able to give me what I wanted. Chunky , wider highlights, instead of little strips of color that looked like a cat peed on my head the color of copper, and left. Noooooooo wayyy...i WAS THERE more than I wanted..but, in the end, got what I wanted..so, its not a total loss. I guess people need to learn somewhere. read more

I loved my hair but there were some modifications I did not explain very well to her.I was so impressed with Erins professionalism and kindness to me. Ashley at Salon Soca was terrific. Super sweet and gentle. She shampooed my hair and then did Olaplex treatment followed by a gloss treatment, all of which were spectacular. I literally napped to the soothing music and her scalp massage was amazing. Next, Ashley cut my hair and chopped off any tired ends. She blow dryed my hair and I left the salon feeling like a million bucks. Definitely will go back. Who doesn't like running their fingers through such soft and shiny hair, nothing hard or harsh added to my hair. Great products, too. read more

Emily nailed it again! I have very straight fine hair, and she gives me a precise and beautiful hair cut, just below my jaw line, that makes my hair look bouncy, full and voluminous. I can part my hair in any direction and it has great movement! She also gave me the most beautiful, rich, dark henna color. She is careful to get no henna stains anywhere on my skin, and washes it out throughly afterwards, so my hair is soft with no residue left in it. I have applied henna to my own hair at home by myself, and it is difficult to work with and can be a big mess, and hard to wash out. From now on I am leaving it up to the experts- and Emily is really an expert! Perfect enhancement of my naturally ash brown hair. Emily is great at what she does and spends plenty of time with her client to make sure her work is perfect. read more

I really liked this salon. Emily gave me a cut and partial highlights. She did an amazing job on my hair. I really love it and i've had a lot of compliments on it. I'm only giving them three stars because my stylist Emily was very quiet and it was a little awkward. I tried making conversation with her but it seemed like she wasn't interested in talking with me. Maybe she was tired or something but I was at the salon for almost three hours and wished my experience was a little more pleasant. I'm new to the Yelp community but have been a client of Salon Soca and Emily B (my fab stylist) for almost 6 years! When I found Emily, I immediately latched on to her. I had been looking for a great stylist for a few years (after moving to Chicago) and was disappointed with previous recommendations I had received. Emily is great and she's worth every penny. She is experienced, current and helpful with recommendations. She not only understands what will look best on you but also, more importantly, what is best for your hair. Salon Soca has flexible hours -- Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays they are open until 9pm which is great for the 9-5+ crowd. (Obviously, the days & times will vary depending on the stylist.) The only day they are closed is Monday (fine by me...I never feel like getting my hair cut on Mondays anyway. After work, I usually just want to go home, get into sweats and mourn the end of my weekend.) But I digress. For me, the only negative is it's proximity to the El train. It's not far by any means (just under a mile from the Red Line, and a bit less if you cut through DePaul campus). You just have to allow a little extra walking time, which is not always preferable in rainy or extreme conditions. I think Google recommends 15 minutes. For us speed walkers, about 10. The plus with Salon Soca's location is that it's close to Sweet Mandy B's (one of my fave cupcake spots in the city) which means I HAVE to stop and get a treat. read more

My friend has been getting her hair cut here for some time by Joe. It can't be that hard to mess up because she has the most beautiful head of hair on the planet, but still, it is PERFECT. Every time I see her it looks freshly cut. Lo and behold, the girl with the most beautiful hair got married, so I met her at Soca to get my hair done for the big day. Cortney gave me a beautiful blow dry that held up all night, and she was really charming and sweet. And not in that "I'm your hairdresser so I have to make conversation" kinda way. Last Saturday I was in a pinch: a ball to go to in the evening, my dark roots growing in faster than the speed of life. In a desperate attempt to retain my red, Salon Soca fit me in last minute with their master colorist, Bridget. Fabulous. Bridget and I had a consultation, in which I tried to be as descriptive about my shade as possible, but even felt like it was still too vague. She made me red--and the perfect shade. I was thrilled. Sarah blow-dried my hair, and she did a great job, as I needed it done right before the ball. Incase stylists are keeping track of my salon jumping, I didn't go back to Sinead because Kathie left to go back to school (I *can* commit, I swear!). So, I chose Salon Soca because positive Yelp reviews and also it's an Aveda salon; the closer to organic, the better. Especially because I was craving some color processing, just some highlights to brighten me up for the holidays. Nicole did a great job with both cut and color, and fast! I've been complimented several times. I am especially impressed with the haircut because it takes a talented person to figure out bangs. The color is really nice also; she was aggressive in pointing out that should not make my hair too light in winter. I liked all the staff members that I encountered. I would have given 5 stars except for the fact the website says that all customers are given a scalp, shoulder and neck massage. This did not happen. After being incredibly lazy for a year and a half, I finally got annoyed enough by the length of my hair to give this place a go. It was recommended to me by a friend who frequents this place exclusively. Cortney informed me that I had enough hair to donate, and then proceeded to do a great job chopping off a ton of hair. It feels so much lighter! And looks pretty good even after I washed and "styled" it myself. She also told me that they offer free thinnings in between cuts... which I'm told for normal people is between 8-12 weeks... not months apparently. read more

My stylist (Danielle) moved to Salon Soca from another salon and I followed her here. Stylists are like doctors -- once you find a good one, stick with them. I've only had to visit twice but have been pleased with the service both times. The location is excellent and I've never had trouble parking for free on the street. The interior is quite relaxing with its tall ceilings, huge windows with copious natural light, and no weird music. The prices are very fair for what you get and are on-par with the other competing salons. And yes, they do cut men's hair. I'm also a fan of their reasonable Sunday hours. read more

Lauren had rescued my hair and gave it life again. She gave me an amazing haircut and even showed me how to blow dry my hair properly to fix some of my hair concerns. She also offers complimentary bang trimmings if needed and assured me that she was available for any other hair concerns I had or needed. It was a truly lovely experience.
