I would never recommend this place to my worst enemy it was the worst experience of my life she charge my American Express so much money $$$$$.I had to fly back to Miami Florida where I was born and raised to fix it when I got to my hairdresser of 17 years he told me he could not believe she charged me this price and she gave me black weave hair meaning it was for black people not white people she also has two cell phones. If I could give zero stars I would. Very unprofessional and disappointed. I had an appointment at 9:45, arrived at 9:30 and they canceled my appointment. I came from Selma and was turned away. I would understand if they had cancelled a day before or at least before arriving there. The stylist cancelled because I booked her online and she cannot do it without someone else...this should have been explained on the site. Very annoyed. Thankfully I found elsewhere. Even though Rae and her colleagues were very sweet and friendly, unfortunately they were not honest with me about the treatment they were doing to my hair. I thought, and we discussed the fact that, I was paying to have a permanent straightening treatment done to my hair, but it fell out after a few weeks and my hair went back to being curly. I checked my receipt and saw that I was billed for a keratin treatment, which is what I suspected already that she had done, even though it is a temporary treatment and I told her many times I did not want a keratin treatment. I asked Rae what product had she used on my hair, and when I looked it up, it was in fact a keratin treatment. She told me the company was using different "verbiage", but it wasn't a keratin treatment and it was permanent, and it was my fault for not doing proper aftercare. She said she would send me her own information on the product. I called the company to find out the truth. They told me its a temporary keratin treatment and they don't make any permanent products. I regret that Rae was dishonest from the start and continues to be dishonest. As a mom of several children, I only get my hair done once a year and I hate that I came into contact with a dishonest company that tricked me just to get my money. read more

My husband (who has never been in a salon) took my 13 year old to get some semi-permanant dye remnants out of her hair. It would have washed out but she was anxious for them to be gone, as picture day for school was coming up. The stylist did a bleach shampoo, then a haircut. There was still a small amount of color but it looked good. Then she convinced my 13 year old (a blonde) to cover the color. She dyed it pink and purple, with my child's consent (did I mention she is 13?) and then charged me $560. My poor husband felt terrible. There should have been more transparency about the cost - honestly it was not worth anywhere near that much money! Feel taken advantage of. Owner was no help, offered to sell me shampoo and conditioner. read more

I will never step foot into this place again. About a year ago I went into have two rows of extensions removed, which took a total of maybe 10 minutes and got charged about 30 bucks. I went in a couple weeks ago and had one row removed, and the girl was by herself and it took a total of maybe five minutes, she then asked if I wanted to get my hair washed and blow dried which I said yes when it came time to pay, she told me that she wasn't going to charge me for washing and blow drying my hair because it's kind of expensive to remove the one row of extensions. I've had my extensions removed before from other places as well, and it has never cost me what this place is cost me. They charged me $200 to remove one row of extensions and a total of five minutes and that is absolutely absurd. When I called and asked what cost it would be a couple weeks later to see what they would say, she said it would cost me $150, I asked why so much and she said it starts at that because we do not know if there is any matting or any issues. There were no issues or matting with my hair and she lied to me about not charging me for the blow dry, but instead acted as if $200 was expensive and so she gave me the blow dry and wash for free, I do not recommend this place at all read more

I tried this salon after I reached out to Facebook for a suggestion. Was looking to get a full foil and cut done for under $150. The owner suggested one of her stylist that could meet that price. When I arrived the stylist quoted me $160 for full foil, gloss and cut, I agreed. It took the stylist over four hours just to foil my hair. After getting the foils, waiting for them to set and washing my hair I had already spent SIX hours in the salon. I asked to skip the hair cut and the blow dry because of the time. I went to check out and somehow my bill went up to $200 (minus the haircut). I left the salon with wet, uncut hair. I then contacted the owner who was not in at the time to discuss the charge and did not hear back. This was by far my worst salon experience, would not recommend wasting your time or money here. read more

I took myself and my daughter here for all over ICY blond highlights. Total Bill for us $480.00. I'll start by... they are hard to get ahold of over phone or text. Secondly, the lady who did my hair pulled and yanked on each foil she put in. Then when she combed it out, I felt like telling her to stop several times because it hurt that much. And I'm not tender headed. I had to take Tylenol for the next two days because my scalp was so tender. My daughter has a thicker hair than me and was done in half the time. We were there 5 HOURS. The lady knew it didn't look as good as she wanted it so offered me to come back and put more in to cover the outgrowth that she missed. I let two days go by before I contacted them. I couldn't get ahold of anyone via phone. So I text. They gave me the run around and eventually stopped responding. Not professional by any means. This could have been avoided if they had just kept communication open and offered to correct the issue. read more

I came to Manes and Mascara for extensions. At my consultation I was told that I could get medium length hair with the same fullness to match my hair. I have a pixie cut and was showed a picture of a girl with a similar hair cut that received extensions and they looked great. Unfortunately I did not receive the same service. I was told it was going to take 2 hours for install and I was there for 7 hours. Also I was not informed during the consultation that there was going to be some discomfort. After my install I could not sleep for two nights. The beads were pulled so tight to my head. This may have been worth it if I had received beautiful hair, which I did not. The next day I tried everything I could to style it and no matter what it looked like a mullet. There was no hair in the sides and the back was completely flat. It looked like the tiger kings hair cut. Also the hair didn't match my color hair and there was a clear line that showed the different color. It's very sad that I paid over 2100 dollars for a professional to not refund my money for the service that I received. I was offered to come back in and get them taking out and re-done, the hair did not match mine so I don't think that would have made it any better. So disappointing, I only asked for a partial refund because I know the hair costs money but it doesn't cost 2100 dollars worth. The owner was not willing to even discuss a partial refund. read more

The girls here work Magic. I've been with Rae for over a year now (since I moved to the area) she is by far the best stylist in the Triangle. She is so talented and I never feel rushed, and I always feel like I get my money worth. I also have been to Michelle recently. And I swear she read my mind and colored my hair exactly the way I was imagining. I've gotten highlights, baby lights, cuts, Brazilian Blow outs. It's all been ABSOLUTELY fantastic. Oh and they are so nice, sweet and funny too. It's always a good time at the salon!!! And they use fantastic products in the salon/for sale! read more

Rae is awesome. I was nervous about going down the hair color road, but she talked me through the process, and I love the results. Plus, she simply gives a great haircut. It's not one of those things where you look fantastic leaving the salon but can't recreate it on your own. A truly good cut is easy to maintain. read more
