Carly is simply wonderful! She is extremely talented matched with the sweetest disposition and desire to make her clients happy! I requested a haircut and style or just a style and after drama, scheduled for only a style by Carly. After a 20 minute wait I finally had my hair washed by another person and then Carly completed the dry and style. Not 1 question to me on how I wantEd my hair to be styled, but instead Carly talked about her boyfriend and her life. Then charged $54. I will never return to this salon. read more

The perfect perm! Upon entering Sweet Ts I had never even had a haircut or entered a salon and was quite nervous about it! I had read all the reviews online and figured out that of all the places in Raleigh, this was the best one to get a perm and Gloria was the best hair artist to do it. And boy was I right! They helped work with my busy schedule and were so kind to spend literally 7 hours rolling my very long hair for this perm. And it came out BEAUTIFULLY! I couldn't be happier about it, I've waited about a month to see the full intended affect after the hair relaxes a little, and it looks exactly like what I asked them for! Beach wave material with great curls that have bounced back after countless washes! Thank you all so much! This rating is based on the fact that I barely got into a parking space, dodged a SUV pulling out within an inch of my life and never got into a chair! I arrived right on time and saw several parking spots right in front; there were 3, and a SUV was in the middle. I tried to park on the right, but they were parked slanted and it would have been a tight squeeze getting in the spot and out of the car. I then tried to park on the left, but their front door was wide open. I pulled to the middle row and waited, as they had the rear back-up lights on and they tried to back out and straighten the car up a bit. I waited a few, but as I was getting late, I just stayed put and parked. As I was walking up to the storefront, the SUV decided to back out again and swung out, they didn't see me since they were looking left. I swerved to safety and put my arms up in "touchdown" fashion. Typical Raleigh craziness! It was a chore just getting in the door! I made it inside and it was very big, open, clean and empty! This was a great way to make appts. during the pandemic! I was greeted kindly and I checked in. I was told that my stylist, Amy, would be here shortly (yes, you guessed it...) she was "just trying to park her car!" UH-OH! I turned to see that the same SUV driver, since they couldn't back in and out correctly back into the same Prime parking spot (not meant for customers, apparently); she was taking a drive around the middle section to make another approach! My eyes widened, I stepped back...Ummm, "No thanks". Holy cow, if she can't park a car, what would she do to my HAIR? read more

Amy did a fantastic job with my perm! I have stubbornly straight, fine hair and this was my first perm. It turned out perfect. She gave me hair care tips and took time beforehand to make sure she knew exactly what I wanted. This is 3 weeks ago, so the curls have softened a bit which I like. read more

I have been meaning to leave a review for a while. I began going to Sweet T salon after Melinda did my hair for my friends wedding a few years. When you walk into Sweet T you are greeted with a friendly and clean atmosphere. I always want something different and Melinda is always up for the challenge, even after not going after 9 months! Even with all the regrowth, at home root coverup dye and dead ends, I never felt judged for waiting so long and I left feeling confident and loved my hair again. I was also fortunate to have Sweet T do hair and make up for my wedding. They were so accommodating of the age ranges and different hair types of my bridal party. The process was so organized made sure we were done in time. I left feeling so confident for my big day. I can't say enough about this salon, but I and my hair are very happy with their services. I called to let them know that I was very disappointed so they made me go back. I told them that I did not want them to touch my hair because it was way too short to keep messing it up but they kept telling me that they could fix it but I didn't let them do it. By the end, she didn't even apologize. She just said "I'll definitely learn from this. And here you go, this is for you" - She gave me a travel size hair spray. TRAVEL SIZE!!!!! No apologies, no money return, NOTHING!!!!!!! Sad part is that after my first appointment there I gave here a really nice tip. Never again going there. I wish I could give 0 stars read more

They care about every customer that walks through that door. It's the one place I go to outside of my actual home and feels like home all over again. I am new to the area and based on reviews made an appointment with Gloria. I have alot of hair. Like enough for 3 people. It is long (~14'), densely curled (4a/3c), coarse, and has a mind of it's own. Gloria did a FABULOUS job wrangling my mane for my first keratin treatment. She took her time and never rushed at any point. She always made sure I was comfortable and was her sole attention the whole appointment. Mens hair cut with a mediocre stylist will run you over 40 dollars. Only half of my neck was trimmed because you'll have a mask on, no shampoo or styling included. I've had better experiences at great clips for 6 dollars with a coupon or 15 dollars at sports clips. Staff is friendly. read more

First time Perm! I got a perm and they are highly skilled at it! The process took about 2-2.5 hours, with long hair. Had a consult before, and was walked through each step of the process. I recently had a very unfortunate experience here with hair color that fried my hair. I had been growing my hair for six months and wanted to be sure that it was a good hair color for curly hair. I could not get a comb through it the day after and have since (after paying $200 to Sweet T) paid another salon to cut it into a pixie. I STILL have trouble getting a comb through what is left due to the hair color. The worst part is in making my complaint, I was met with the most difficult and argumentative manager I've ever encountered. She asked me if I basically wanted the stylist disciplined or the money taken away from her since she was raising three sons. A salon should have ways of dealing with these things that sometimes happen without having to "charge" or fire the stylist!!!! I had a call from the owner who has not followed up. I want my money back and want to save you from this as well. read more

I came here for the first time as an experimenter. I used to be skeptical about stylists because I often don't get my expected results. I got an appointment with Amy. I showed her the picture of the style. Instead of just doing it right away (which was what I used to experience), she talked to me first and explained everything about the details of the style and the skills she would use to make that effect. She is very kin to details. She analyzed my previous hairstyle and suggested changes to my hair layers according to the picture I showed her. After the cut, my hairstyle exceeded my expectation. I would say Amy used some "magic tricks" to make the effect with just one pair of scissors! Amy is a very experienced and detail-orientated hairstylist! She has a good taste and very trendy! I came here about 3 times for a cut and partial highlights. The first time I went there I went with a groupon for the highlights. It was the first time I ever had them but had been wanting them for awhile - I decided to make the plunge. While there, another employee made a comment to me that I should consider getting my eyebrows waxed. I was a little taken aback. I'm not sure why I agreed to it, but I let them do it. The same employee asked me why I was getting the first time highlights and waxing my eyebrows: did I just break up with my boyfriend, did I get a new job, etc. I was very offended, as he made it sound like I was some frumpy chick who doesn't take care of herself. My stylist seemed rather inexperienced and had to ask some questions about mixing the color. Ultimately the highlights were too chunky and light, no where near as natural as I had asked for. I also wasn't thrilled with the cut. I'm not sure why, but I came back a few months later to get it all done again and still wasn't super happy with the results. Before my third trip, I called and talked to the owner, Nancy, and asked if getting lowlights put in also would help the problem. Her response was that maybe, but it will cost you extra. Since the cut and highlights was already costing me an arm and a leg, I wasn't about to pay more for some lowlights. So for a third time, I got just highlights and was unhappy. I was fed up and have never been back. I have found a new salon, an AWESOME hair stylist who can give me highlights that look natural, and who every few times will also put in some low-lights to prevent my head from getting too light all around. And guess what? I don't get charged extra. And my total bill is less than what I paid here at Sweet T. Maybe if the owner was less focused on being Miss Entrepenur/ Beauty Pageant Queen, and trying to constantly expand her salon's "product line" she would be able to keep her current customers happy. They flaunt that thIey have the only oil-based highlights in the area and that it's soooo good for your hair. What does that matter if you don't apply them the way your customer requests? read more

Possibly the most traumatic hair experience of my life. I went in for a perm stressing that if they could not perm my hair to please let me know. I knew it might be a possibility since my hair had been bleached in the past. The lady insisted she could do and preceded to perm my hair. The result was perfect curls at the root while the mid and ends were stick straight. The stick straight parts have been clearly over processed to the point where my hair feels like straw and will no longer dry on its own. To hide the damage she cut off several inches and gave me the most uneven haircut of my life. I've since had the perm reversed by someone else. Before I went in I had fair healthy hair that was mid way down my back. Now it's damaged beyond repair and shoulder length. My advice. Think twice about trusting them with your hair. I literally cried in the car on my way home. read more

Words cannot express how beyond impressed and extremely satisfied I am with my experience at Sweet T Salon. As soon as I walked through the door, I experienced the best customer service I've had in a long time. The atmosphere is so cheerful and comfortable, and I really do appreciate that coming from someone who's had awful experiences in high-end salons with stylists and services that weren't worth my time and money. Might I add the decor is just absolutely adorable? I really walked into Sweet T Salon on a whim. I wanted to try ombré for the first time, and I've actually wanted to for a while, but I wanted to know for sure my hair was going to be in the hands of someone who knew what they were doing. And that's when I discovered Rosa. I came in a little past 3pm. She finished my hair a few minutes past 8pm. Mind you the salon closes 7pm, but what really made my experience exemplary was the fact Rosa stayed late and took her time with my hair to make sure it looked good and that I was satisfied. She did such an amazing job, and I didn't have to put a hole in my pocket for it. Overall this is the best experience I've ever had in a salon, and this is the most satisfied I've ever felt getting my hair done at a salon. I have to say, I just love this place! The atmosphere when you walk in is so cheery, and welcoming. The girls that work there are so friendly and kind, I always feel like one of them when I'm there. I get my hair rescued by Nancy every few months ( not as often as I should ) and I love it every time. The poor girl has to erase millions of gray hairs and make me look 20 years younger. haha though she manages. I love to sit there and talk to her, I love her upbeat personality and the fact that she's another hardworking, multi-tasking entrepreneur of a power chick!!! She's completely my inspiration at times. I've had almost every possible thing done there, from waxing to nails and have never had an issue with price or problem with any service. Wendy the nail girl is just awesome too. Though I've never had my hair done by anyone else, I truly feel like I know them all. That's how friendly these people are and how they are all so involved with each client, like they're their own. I will never go anywhere else as long as Sweet T salon is open. If Nancy decided to just run business and stop doing hair, I would feel comfortable going to any other girl in that building. I have been getting my hair cut by Amy for ten years, and I am always satisfied. I love it that she cuts my hair while it's dry, so that when I wash it and it dries naturally, it looks good! I recently moved to Raleigh from Southern California and was looking for a salon/stylist who could achieve my baby blonde/super light blonde hair color. Gloria did an amazing job, the color is perfect and exactly what I wanted. My hair feels so soft and healthy, they use oil based color/ not bleach....at first I was worried that it would not be able to achieve the super light blonde but it did and feels much healthier. Let me start my review by saying that I never write reviews but in this particular instance, I feel I should send out a warning. I have curly hair and needed a haircut pretty badly, so I decided to give the "Sweet T Salon" a try because it sounded cute. My curly hair seems to be what threw the stylist off, because instead of finding someone who knew how to handle curly hair, she just kept cutting. And cutting...and this was the SECOND day I went to this salon. The day before I had been there for my haircut, but the stylist left the sides unusually long, as if she just decided to stop in the middle of the haircut. So I returned and told her what needed to happen, and she still didn't quite understand what I needed. So she continued to cut my hair shorter and shorter because she was inexperienced with curly hair. Unfortunately, I may have had more luck giving the cashier at the nearest gas station a pair of scissors and telling them to go to town on my hair. I have become a walking indictment and advertisement of this salons "skill". If the staff were more concerned with the quality of their service, and less about the party (the social aspect) that they want to throw in their "salon" this may have been a far more positive review. Mistakes were made here, chiefly the mistake that was choosing to try this salon. Please save your hard earned money for a more qualified staff and go elsewhere. read more
