This has been a long overdue review, I had to re-download my Yelp app to write my (first bad)…read morereview. I did contact the salon directly twice, but never heard back. I set up an appointment for a haircut, highlight, deep conditioning and style. I was looking for a new salon, closer to work. I was very excited to find a new, very cute salon. Sherris seemed nice and friendly. I showed her pictures of what I wanted and was describing what I liked, she "corrected" my terminology (I have been getting purple streaks in the middle (not ontop or underneath) of my hair for over 10years and have always described them as peak-a-boos, Sherris stated that's not what they are called). Okay that's fine, but you didn't add anything similar to my "peak-a-boos" either way. Rather than sharing my opinion of how horrible my hair came out, I attached 6 pictures to show how I wanted my hair to look, and how my hair turned out. Not only incredibly uneven, but did not look any different color wise, roots were still the same. I screenshot the pictures to include the date/time to show that they were within a few hours of my appointment. The appointment itself; I had my work phone and personal phone. In the beginning of the appointment, Sherris was eating, at her styling chair. I sat as she finished eating, So I began reading work emails. I had to respond to a few. During the appointment, I responded to a few work emails and 1 text from my little brother. Sheris asked me who was texting me when my phone would make the email sound. At one point, as she continued asking, I said "my brother just asked if I wanted to meet with him." That's it- case closed. She then began interpreting my brothers text and was rushing- I'm like "I told my brother I am busy it's not a big deal." She forgot the deep conditioning treatment. Since I was cutting off so much hair, she cut it prior to washing and was going to finish cleaning up/trimming after(?). She did not style my hair, did not even finish blow drying it- you can see the ponytail bumb in the pictures as my hair looked horrible and I immediately put it in a ponytail- yeah to the over $100 appointment. (Sarcasm) Her outgrown acrylic nails got stuck in my hair several times, the nail lady is directly next to Sherris. Each time her nails got caught in my hair, she would make a joke with the nail lady "good thing I have an appointment with you after her hair!" I paid for highlights, deep conditioning treatment, a haircut and style. As you can tell by the pictures, my haircut was horrible, I cut off about 6 inches and you can see how grossly uneven it is, like she literally missed portions of my hair. After 6 inches, I had to go elsewhere to get the cut even (so I basically paid for 2 cuts and had to find time for 2 appointments). The salon itself is so cute and has great reviews. Sherris was my worse salon experience ever. I will never go back and would never recommend the salon as a whole due to my experience with Sherris and never receiving a response from the salon directly despite trying to get through 2 times.

She listened to what I…read morewanted and gave me exactly what I asked for - a modest trim of my ratty ends without going so short I can't wear a pony tail - summer's coming in a few days. It was an enjoyable experience - she is kind and funny - and I came away with the perfect trim, exactly what I asked for. I owe you, Ms. Mojy! Hair stylists often don't listen to the customer. Mojy does and I couldn't be happier. There's an art to trimming grow-out hair, and Mojy is an artist.

The stylist I saw has since left this salon…read more Originally I emailed Sixteen Eighty Eight through Yelp with my formula and they confirmed they were able to do it, which was great news since I've had trouble finding someone who can follow my formula in Walnut Creek. They matched me with a stylist and I came in on a particularly cold rainy day. The first issue I noted was that they didn't use heat to process, which my formula calls for. Although I've had other salons use wet heat to treat, using no heat was unusual. Beyond that, I noted the stylist would make comments where the tone sounded friendly, but the words like, "your hair is so long, do you ever cut it," were a bit rude. By the end of the visit it was clear she didn't particularly like me, but my hair looked fine under the lighting, so I tipped well and left. What followed has literally never happened to me in the four years I've gotten full root coverage. The color leeched out of my hair - as in, within a few days, all coverage was gone. I don't know what she used, but after a week it didn't look like I'd gotten my hair done at all - my best guess is that because she didn't use heat, it didn't process correctly. I just don't know. I've sat on this review trying to decide how I feel about it, but I definitely always now confirm my formula has to be processed with heat and I've gone back to my old salon in Berkeley even though it's a bit of a drive.

From the first session with her, I became her client for life. My nails and cuticles have never looked so good and healthy. She's ALWAYS on time, extremely sanitary and does a meticulous job. She would tell me you won't be happy. You will see the grow out right away. Well she let me do it. It's been 4 weeks and I feel like I needed to freshen up a week ago.
