Aketzali was amazing! She talked me through my entire haircut and made me feel so comfortable. I've been taking the time to care for my hair, so it's all virgin, and I came in for a trim with some face framing. She let me know my hair was already pretty healthy and that I didn't need much taken off since I oil it regularly. She was quick, gentle, and delivered exactly what I wanted. I'd definitely recommend her! If you book an appointment at this salon, I'd suggest arriving a little early because parking can take a minute--the garage across the street is free for only one hour. I'll definitely be coming back to her. It's so hard to find a stylist you can trust, and she earned it. :)

Aketzali did my hair and I can honestly say that she did an amazing job with how the dark red color came out. It's so vibrant and what I also enjoy is how she engaged with me by having a nice conversation. I recommend Aketzali when it comes to hair coloring and she also does keratin treatment.

I wanted deliberately messy on top :)

Elizabeth Nicole goes for an upscale vibe and I have to say it succeeds, the salon itself is off in a side street and you need to be buzzed in (at least for now?). The decor is upscale, spacious and relaxed. The staff are friendly and punctual but unrushed. I had the pleasure of having Iliyana cut my hair, she is not listed on their site but if you book via Vagaro (online via their website) she is listed there. I showed her a picture of my desired hairstyle and she was able to recreate it perfectly on my head. One of my key observations was that she has an eye for detail and takes the time to get it right, I am so used to rushed experiences (not here, places such as Great Clips etc) where they play little attention to detail and just try to get you in and out as quickly as possible. Conversely, at Elizabeth Nicole it was quite the opposite...relaxed, fun and detailed. I don't think I've ever written a review for a haircut before but I was suitably impressed with my first trip to Elizabeth Nicole that I felt inclined to share. I will definitely be coming back here.

I cheated on my hair stylist of nearly four years. I had already been overdue for a cut and highlight update in March when COVID began reaching a crisis point. It's September and no one has paid any attention to my lion-like mane since November. Guess how many directions my hair was breaking? A minimum of three directions. Three. And guess what else? I could barely work a comb through my untamed locks because they turned into a collective dried, parched thicket. If you take hair seriously, you know this was bad news. My hair was calling out for help and my roommate suggested contacting Mila at Elizabeth Nicole Salon (she cheated on her regular hair stylist too) since salons were opening back up in the East Bay (we're in the South Bay). She had the best haircut of her life with Mila so I didn't need to give this suggestion a second thought. Making the hour-plus journey there and back felt like no problem at all since it gave me the chance to catch up on an audiobook. I didn't know what to expect for parking since the neighborhood is new to me. If you don't mind a little walk, there are parking structures nearby, or you can opt for paid street parking (3 hours max). The salon doesn't face the street and is tucked away behind Zebra Tattoo & Piercing. Time it right and you can venture a block over and enjoy outdoor dining nearby. Mila and I were both masked, and were the only two people in the small salon. The decor resembles a blended industrial and shabby-chic kind of vibe so it's easy to walk in the door and feel like you're somewhere else while you decompress in the chair. Can we talk about Mila's technique for a minute? She's quite skilled. And a perfectionist, too. Prior to her current artistry, she studied fashion and design - it happens to shine through to her impeccable work. I didn't have many requests other than to correct the brassy darker blonde I've been sporting for way too long (to hide bright white hairs popping up) and getting rid of the dead hair. Somehow she didn't need a weed whacker to make her way through. Without much information she managed to craft exactly what I wanted. She took her time and checked in with me throughout the process. Given how well my roommate's hair turned out, I was happy to leave most of the decision-making up to her. One thing I felt particularly happy about was the way she corrected my partial highlights - she added some to the back to break up my darker color and make that less obvious when I have my hair in an updo. I suspect Mila will be my new stylist. Heading up to Walnut Creek is inconvenient...probably at least a half day commitment, but it's one I'm willing to make as I've already lost track of the compliments I've received on my hair update. I loved the improvements she made and how conscientious she is about her hair creations. If you like dogs, ask about her new puppy.

I usually don't write reviews, but when you have the -ist experience in your life, you tend to have the urge to write it down (and even share it in this case). I also waited two days before writing this review, just to collect my thoughts and try to be as objective as I can while describing the experience. But in a nutshell, I had the worst hair cut in my life. Now here goes the story. I moved to Walnut Creek area earlier this year, so I was looking for a new hair stylist. Elizabeth Nicole Salon had all five-star review, so I booked an appointment with Mila for hair color with haircut. I wanted to get a dark brown color and also to trim the ends off just a bit to lose some weight. I told Mila I wanted to grow my hair long, so we agreed to cut off less-than-2 inches of hair. As a result of my appointment, I got black hair with three distinctive lengths. The new color I can cope, but not the haircut. I feel like I have three wigs on, each wig a shorter length than the one underneath. Oh, and there are chunks of hair in the shape of an inverted V between each layer. It is also worth mentioning that I am practically blind without my glasses on, so I was blissfully unaware of what's going with my hair during the session. The next customer was already waiting when we finished. (An understandable domino effect, as I waited 15 minutes past my appointment time so that the previous customer could finish.) Therefore once Mila was done, I quickly put on my glasses, looked at myself in the mirror, and told her I loved it without raising any questions. But once I had the time to take a closer look, my excitement quickly turned into despair. I thought the hair looked black in the salon because of the lighting inside, but now I get to look it outside and it is still as dark as the black t-shirt I had on. I also noticed the amounts of hair dye residues around my hair line and hair bits all over my face. I thought, not a good job cleaning them off but I can do it myself with a few wet wipes so no problem. But then, came the final blast. When I moved my hand through the hair, I finally noticed the chunks of hair missing and the dreadful layers. Looking back at the experience, I should have been alerted on several occasions. Mila wasn't very communicative during the session. She was often gone and left me sitting by myself without any explanation. She was distracted by phone calls during the session as she had to rearrange her daughter's upcoming birthday party because of the rain. I might be left with the hair dye on for too long, as my scalp went numb and I couldn't feel the temperature of the water on my scalp when she washed the dye off. But I kept on. Last, she asked me towards the end of our session if I wanted her to take a thinning scissor to my hair. I guess she was assuming she's talking to someone who knows what a thinning scissor does to the hair. But when I heard thinning, I thought, yes, we agreed we wanted to lose some weight at the end so let's do it. Now looking back, I suspect it might be the cause of my dreadful layerings. Now I've gotten the story out of my chest, I feel better and ready to move on. I've booked another hair cut appointment at a different salon, hoping to remedy the situation. The only fix I can think of right now is to cut it all to the length of the shortest layer, which probably means chin-length hair for me. My dream of a mid-/long-length dark brown hair is far gone. But hopefully, I'll feel like me again. (I included my before and after pics for reference. Definitely an amateur at taking my own photos, but at least you have some references.)

Patchy and weirdly colored hair. By Alex.

I'm in tears. Alex did my hair. She was so sweet, but the photos speak for themselves. I'm mad at myself for testing out a stylist who didn't have a portfolio. She ruined my hair for my wedding -- the blending is so bad. It goes from black to blonde so harshly -- no melting of colors at all. And the colors are so random all over my head and very patchy. I can't stop crying. Is my hair ruined?! I'm going to another salon to fix this. I'm upset. If she wasn't good at blending, she should have just told me. Now I'm down a couple hundred and with very little time to fix my hair. I hope another salon can fix this or that I get a call back. Because wtf is happening. It was so hard to see the color in the salon but once I was home and in natural light + able to take pictures and inspect it, I realized how badly it was done. I am so scared I won't get my hair fixed before my wedding. I wish they hadn't set me up with her knowing that this was an important day for me. I told them on the phone when scheduling that it was for my wedding so I really wanted someone who could color well. They told me their main person wasn't available, but that Alex was really good. Look at my pictures and decide for yourself. I am so mad at myself I didn't trust my gut when I couldn't find her portfolio online. Why did I do this to myself?! I texted her with these pictures + video but haven't gotten a response. I also called the salon after I got home to explain the situation. They said they'd pass on my message. It makes me so sad because Alex was really sweet -- but she ruined my hair for my bachelorette party and wedding in two weeks. I'm in tears. Edit: Updated from 1 to 3 stars because the customer service was really nice. Alex offered to fully refund and schedule another visit to fix it + admitted she didn't notice the errors at the salon. Unfortunately I don't have time to go back to this salon because my bachelorette and wedding are too soon, but I appreciate the effort to respond and did not expect it.

I have been coming to Jodi for a couple years now, and she is truly the best. She really takes her time to give suggestions of what would look best, and I leave feeling BEAUTIFUL. I just got bangs and more layers and I'm obsessed. I won't go to anyone else. Not to mention the salon itself has gorgeous decor - vintage/antique vibe and they offer water or coffee as you sit in the chair. Such a relaxing couple of hours whenever I come.

ATTENTION YELPERS: I have unfortunately moved too far this time and can't see my fave hair stylist Jenna Stellon anymore, so I need someone to please take my place ASAP! I have been seeing Jenna for almost 4 years. She rescued me from a bad bleach job with the BEST toner color, a cool-grayish-steel-yet-still-blonde. After that I was completely hooked. I started seeing random stylists after I moved out of Walnut Creek a few years ago and after a bad layering job at an uber-expensive salon in San Francisco, I decided it would be worth the 30 min commute to see Jenna again. She helped me grow out those awful layers and made it healthy again. She always got my favorite toner color right every time. I sometimes wanted to be more blonde and she would make it happen. I started wanting to incorporate lowlights into my blonde, she nailed that too. She would also straight up tell me when something was a bad idea, which I seriously appreciate! Every appointment my sides and face would be hurting from the amount of laughing, talking about life, our lives, and ridiculous things in life. Jenna is so rad and so much fun. Oh and p.s. my hair is almost black so that tells you something. You will be in GREAT HANDS with Jenna so stop looking for a new stylist now and just see her already for pete's sake =D

I've been going to Regan for about 6 years or so and she is amazing. I have never had a bad style from her. My hair always looks and feels amazing. I recently had my hair done during the Covid-19 pandemic and they have really amped up their safety procedures. They take your temperature at the door and are taking all the precautions necessary. My daughter also had her hair cut by Mila and it was super adorable! I love this salon and the down to earth vibe it has.

Thanks Jenna! I love my hair!

They matched me with a stylist and I came in on a particularly cold rainy day. The first issue I noted was that they didn't use heat to process, which my formula calls for. Although I've had other salons use wet heat to treat, using no heat was unusual. Beyond that, I noted the stylist would make comments where the tone sounded friendly, but the words like, "your hair is so long, do you ever cut it," were a bit rude. By the end of the visit it was clear she didn't particularly like me, but my hair looked fine under the lighting, so I tipped well and left. What followed has literally never happened to me in the four years I've gotten full root coverage. The color leeched out of my hair - as in, within a few days, all coverage was gone. I don't know what she used, but after a week it didn't look like I'd gotten my hair done at all - my best guess is that because she didn't use heat, it didn't process correctly. I just don't know. I've sat on this review trying to decide how I feel about it, but I definitely always now confirm my formula has to be processed with heat and I've gone back to my old salon in Berkeley even though it's a bit of a drive.
