Definitely left an impression for a lot to be desired.... I called and spoke with Sylvester, who told me it's $150/hour labor rate, $150 for diagnostics; but he offers to wave 50% off the diagnostics job if the job ends up going to him/his team/shop in the end. Sylvester seems nice enough, personable and relaxing conversationalist enough when I talked on the phone and when I dropped off the car. I wish the positive impression there translated to a more positive experience or instilling any positive confidence in... I bought a very old used car (20 year old car; but under 110k miles), and didn't need the premium pricing for maintenance, considering I don't want to put in too much into a car that is in its last years (for reference, I usually bring my cars to Precision Auto Care in San Leandro). Based on location, labor rate, high rating ratio (and compared to other local repair shops at a similar rate), and some reviews, I chose to try this place out to give my car a good look over. I wanted to see if his shop would be able to confirm/observe some of the same the things they should've from the Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) I had done, and didn't fabricate more merely to pad on costs. In the end, I was not impressed... After dropping it off for the day, when I came to pick it up, this was the outcome (for the $150 to get an official after-sale inspection "Diagnostic & Analysis; Potential Issues"); Sylvester gave me the most generic, plain, perfunctory assessment! He basically merely pointed out the easily observable & obvious/superficial; showing it wasn't given any kind of in depth inspection. All he gave, specifically, was that the gear number indicator isn't accurate (who cares, it's from 2005, it's not going to show when it momentarily goes down to 2nd or 3rd gear after cruising at 4th), and that "it's old". That's it. He went on about how it's an old car, so not in great shape (yeah it's old, but was under 110k miles with no major accidents or issues and had every service milestone), and that it needs a (what I imagine a still pretty costly) basic tune up before anything else can be figured out...! He claimed it could barely be expected & trusted to drive to as far as San Jose (from Hayward). I asked him about any of the findings from the PPI (transmission needs tune-up, brakes look worn, serpentine belt looks worn down, parking brake could be tighter, various evidence of small leaks), and he merely shrugged and kept pushing for the basic tune up because it's old before anything else. I then specifically asked him what was observed about the brakes, and he again shrugged and nonchalantly responded "well...it stops..." What kind of response is that?! I know what a proper inspection looks like (shot out to SafeBuy); I don't think he or his team even looked at it -- merely test drove it a little bit, took surface-level observations, and didn't even bother to inspect even the most important & vital parts (even as it's not even small compact components)! He couldn't even take a credit card (machine was acting up), or give a proper receipt. I've driven it for 7 months now, and put 13k miles on it (because I work in San Jose from San Leandro; going against his wrong assessment) -- I've brought it to 2 other mechanics who confirmed most things from the PPI, and dispelled a few others that weren't as concerning as initially observed (PPI can only inspect so extensively); I did get a transmission tune-up and the spark plugs needed to be replaced, but it's worked great all this time (opposite to what Sylvester said). And none of which was observed or brought up by him/them. They might be competent enough, and great in other situations and for other people (hence more than 1 star). But after it all, I felt it ended up being a waste of money with Exodus Auto Repair - with bad generic uninformative not-complete diagnostics. In the end, if that's the effort and comprehensiveness of the inspection he'd give at the base/first level, how can I trust him and his team for more in depth troublesome issues & major repairs?! read more

I came for a battery problem that had to do with the lighting. The inspection was $180 which was fair price, but Silvestre noted that the amount would be credited towards the repair, which was a great deal! The repair itself was done in a matter of a day, I was surprised when they call me so fast. Not only that, but battery was dead and needed to be replaced, it was under warranty and Silvestre offered to pick it up, I just had to send the receipt, saved me at least $200 for a new one. When I get there, they told me about a tire that was losing air (I've been meaning to change it). Cesar comes and talks to me, and offered me a deal. Four almost new Shelby 20-in rims with new tires, sensor change for a deal I couldn't reject (mind you I've been meaning to buy 20-in rims). The rims were fresh, and he already had two installed to move the car, they just looked so good, I ended up closing the deal. When I came to pick up the car, rims were installed with the sensors, lighting was done, and he also painted the calipers, and removed the rust from the disk FOR FREE!!! Such an amazing job from these two guys, I can't be happier with my car now. 100% recommend this shop for any repairs, they literally do everything, and I got the deal of my life with everything they did. My car was making very loud noises (worn wheel bearings). They replaced both rear wheel bearings. Noise improved by 90%. This exposed a new, quieter noise which had been covered up by the loud rear noise: The front bearings were also failing. I had them replace the front bearings as well. After the 2nd operation, they said they heard a noise in the back and needed to check their own work on the rear bearing replacement. However, when I drove it, I heard no sound, and I'm very picky with sound and moved my head around to be sure. I think they may have heard the original front bearing sound and thought it was coming from the back. Car is now completely flawless and good as new. During both operations, they charged much less than others quoted. They also replaced the front brakes for a very low price, and I could verify it because there's no more squealing when I brake. read more

I didnt want to leave a negative review but ( Sylvester) i went to get a screw extracted because one of the screw snap on the vtec solenoid. So I went here, I made sure I got a new oem vtec solenoid so I wouldn't have any issues. They took a day but when he called me he said you radiator broke just pay the radiator and do the labor free. I told him pay, my car only had one issue the broken screw. Im not paying for something you guys broke. Then once o got my car I had a code p2647 which has to do with the vtec solenoid and started making noise in the engine. I told him about it because it sounded bad. I had to tow it there because i didnt want to take a chance. Once it was there I got it back the next day. Before i got it back, we was on the phone. He started to say its the transmission the fluidis low. He was gonna charge me 150 just to add transmission fluid not do a change smh but the transmission was fine just need a little of fluid. But I said the sound is coming from the engine he said we have to go into the engine its going to cost you. I explain what about the check engine code he said the same i have to get into the engine. It could be anything. I told him the code says it has to do with the vtec solenoid. He just said it could be anything.I took it back in disappointment. I feel i was getting scammed. I went to another place to diagnose it to see. I found out the noise is because I have low oil which they didnt add when they fix my vtec solenoid smh and he easily didnt even tell me that when I brought my car back there or just took care of that before giving my car back. And the code they didn't even fix it when it had to do with them installing my vtec solenoid.. i was told when I got it diagnose it could be the gasket in the vtec solenoid is dirty. This shop could did a lot to help me. I called sylvester to explain what diagnose i got. he said let them do it, instead of saying bring it here ill take care of it. I feel he did something wrong when he installed the vtec solenoid because why he didnt want to fix it. He didnt fix that code when i brought it back and now and when i asked again to fix it. I never going through this again coming here SMDH... update these people drill bigger holes on my vtec solenoid to make the screws fit. When I got another new vtec solenoid it didn't fit i was wondering why its not fitting they messed my car up and that's why he didnt wanna fix it because what he did. I needed a hood swap for a 2000 Honda CIVIC. Bought the part (non painted hood) OEM from a shop in Oakland where I picked it up , it fit in my SUv. It wasn't too large or heavy and came wrapped tight in a cardboard cover . I chose to "yelp Project " and Exodus Auto Repair and services was one of the 5 that popped in the algorithm. They messages in iMessage and in yelp messages and was very informative and was very transparent for the flat rate fee to put the hood on. Their shop is very clean and is ok Mission Blvd where multiple car shops are located in the same area. The guys at Exodus are great. I reached out to them on Yelp to see if they could replace the water pump on my 2010 Prius. They responded really quickly and answered all of my questions. Thankfully they were able to squeeze me in just a couple hours before their closing time. This was huge because it was my only weekday off and I needed my car to get to work the next day. I brought in my own water pump and they had no issue with using it. This was super nice because some other shops won't use parts provided by the customer or they'll try to upsell you on their parts. I told them that it was the only thing I needed done, and they did just that. It's always a little nerve wracking to go to the mechanic as somebody who doesn't know a lot about cars, and being a woman at that.
