    2nd inspection

    I really wanted to have a positive experience with Stress-Free Auto Care because my first impression was great. Everyone was friendly, professional, and they strongly emphasized communication and transparency. Unfortunately, my experience ended up being the complete opposite. From the beginning, I often had to call for updates myself despite being told I would receive calls and texts regarding my vehicle. On multiple occasions, I was told someone would contact me, only to hear nothing and have to follow up myself. The first major issue occurred when I was told my car was ready for pickup. I arranged transportation and had my husband drive me all the way to Castro Valley, only to find out my vehicle wasn't ready at all. The part hadn't even been ordered. The employee apologized on behalf of his co-worker and offered a $100 discount for the inconvenience. I specifically asked whether the updated price and discount would be documented because I wanted proof of the agreement. I was assured that every change made to the invoice was saved in their system and that there would be no issue when I returned. When I eventually came back to pick up my vehicle, the discount was gone and the total was different. I had to argue for the discount that had already been promised. That immediately raised concerns about their record keeping and accountability. I originally brought my vehicle in because it struggled to accelerate, displayed Stabilitrak and traction control warnings, and often behaved as though it wasn't properly engaging into gear. I was told the shifter assembly needed to be replaced before they could determine whether anything else was wrong. While I understand no diagnosis is guaranteed, they gave me the impression that they were very confident this repair would resolve the issue. Based on their recommendation, I approved the repair and paid over $1,200. What makes this even more confusing is that after the shifter assembly was replaced, I was told the vehicle had been repaired, tested, and was ready for pickup. If the shifter replacement did not actually resolve the issue, why was the vehicle released to me as fixed? I was never told that additional diagnostics were needed or that the original problem was still present. Instead, I drove away believing the issue had been resolved. Within days, the exact same warning lights and drivability issues returned. The vehicle again acted as though it didn't know what gear it was in, struggled to accelerate, and became unsafe to drive. I had the vehicle towed back under warranty and, after another round of diagnostics, I was presented with another estimate for over $1,600 for a completely different component. What concerns me most is the inconsistency. The first inspection identified multiple suspension and safety-related items as requiring urgent attention. A later inspection listed many of those same items as good despite no repairs being performed. If something is urgent one week but fine the next, which inspection am I supposed to trust? My frustration isn't just about the money. It's about trust. I trusted the diagnosis, I trusted the communication, I trusted that agreed-upon pricing would be properly documented, and I trusted the inspection reports I was given. By the end of the experience, I no longer felt confident in any of those things. Between the communication issues, being told my vehicle was ready when it wasn't, the disappearing discount, the conflicting diagnoses, the inconsistent inspection reports, and paying over $1,200 only to have the original problem return almost immediately, I ultimately lost confidence in the recommendations I was being given and decided to seek a second opinion elsewhere. Based on my experience, Stress-Free Auto Care was anything but stress-free. I will be making a detailed video about the matter I'll update with the link to that. Please find somewhere else to go for your car repairs.

    Great place to bring you car for service. They have an area to wait if you would like or use their work station to work while you wait. They do offer and uber ride if you are within their service distance. I would have appreciated an offer of water or coffee while I wanted but it isn't a requirement though customer service touch. I appreciate they will contact you before they do any additional service once the tech has inspected the car and furthermore they provide a details report of the good performance your car has and where it needs service. It would be nice to get a price on each of the service needs but they will offer an estimate if you ask. Overall this is my second time coming here and do like the car service they provide.

    I took my vehicle to stress-free Auto Care on September 15th and I picked up the vehicle on September 18th. And the work that was done on my car was horrible. I still smell gas after the so-car repair that was done to my vehicle. When I asked to bring the vehicle back up there for a check. And I explained to them what I was experiencing. They've been got an attitude with me and started raising his voice. Like I told him both times that I spoke to him, it was in a very disrespectful manner from his behalf. While I was at my elderly mother's house both times when I spoke to Omar. Explaining to him what I was experiencing with my vehicle. Yes he did say bring the vehicle back down to do a check. But the fact that I was experiencing a oil leak in my car and there was no oil in my vehicle at all and it started making some weird noise to whereas I took it down to go get an oil change because the oil change light came on. Saying the vehicle needed to be serviced that cost me $169.00 why would you take the oil out of someone's vehicle so the engine can seize up? I would never recommend this company to anyone. You must be very careful when you are dealing with stress-free. I Don't Care. Nothing about it is stress-free. I have been going through it ever since I picked up my vehicle. I spoke to them yesterday and told me if I want anything done I would have to seek outside help. So I told them that I will speak to an attorney to try to figure out what was my next best step be pertaining to my vehicle. And possibly getting some of my money back for the damage that's being cost to my vehicle after the service they did. I feel like my car is in a worse condition than what it was when I first took it to them. Beware of the service of stress-free Auto Care

    Vandalized windshield wiper.

    I'd like to share the before and after of my vandalized windshield wiper. Thank you so much for fixing everything so quickly! The response time for the service requested was incredible -- they reached out within 15 minutes of me submitting my project. I dropped my car off on Friday and had it back on Saturday. The actual repair took only about 30 minutes; we just had to wait for the part, which arrived surprisingly fast. They were even able to add on a last minute oil change! Now I feel safe to drive in the rain. Everyone on duty was extremely helpful and professional, they even ran a diagnostic check free of charge. I'll definitely be returning to get more work done. Thanks for doing a great job.

I understood very quickly why Yelp and the FB car community recommends Nakayama MS- they are truly car experts, and they also specialize in performance cars. The owner, John Nakayama, has the perfect balance of being extremely knowledgeable and savvy, trustworthy, and he is also a very kind person. Cost for repairs was neither cheap nor expensive-I found the costs were reasonable for the high quality of work, and peace of mind. John was very patient with me-answering all of my questions, and he was very thorough and concise with his explanations. My car is now running beautifully!     DIY fail I had Adams Autoworx change the Timing belt, water…read morepump etc a few years ago and they did a thorough inspection of my 2006 RX 330 at the same time. We don't drive it more than 2000 miles a year, but the inspection listed several areas that needed attention. From that experience, I knew Adams was a quality and honest establishment in Castro Valley. Well today I thought I would change out the air filter on the Lexus and with the help of Youtube I thought "no problem". Well I had a problem and I could not for the life of me get the air filter housing to set back in place with the new filter. I called Adams and spoke to Paige and she said to bring the Lexus and they would look at it. I get there Paige tries to get it back in place but can't; she calls Jose from the garage to take a look and within minutes he has got it back in place and tightened up all the 10 mm bolts in the engine bay. I took my Lexus there 2 days ago for a routine oil change, and to repair a coolant leak that I had diagnosed. The leak was indisputably the result of the lower radiator hose rubbing against the alternator drive pulley. This hose was installed by them when they did my timing belt service. Because I provided the hose, they disclaimed warranty coverage. The problem is that it was not a part failure; it was an installation error. I wasn't crazy about it, even after Paige began/attempted to tell me that if that were the case, it would have failed months ago. That is patently false. It was a tight installation, and the contact between the two parts was very slight. A blind man could see it. I explained to her that I am a 50+year veteran of the automotive repair industry, and that this was an installation error; not a part failure. She even claimed that they did not install it. I invited her to look up the repair sequence for the timing belt job in Alldata. She should have taken notice that I even knew what Alldata was. I advised her that one of the early steps in the process is to remove the radiator. Since they did acknowledge the timing belt/water pump job, they really don't have a leg to stand on. She was not about to be swayed, even when I told her that That would be the last of me they would ever see. Ever hear the term "penny wise and pound foolish"? So beware- their warranty means nothing. Had I not picked up on the leak in time, things would be very different. A $20K engine's destruction would have shown them a much more animated and dissatisfied customer. Bill Adams would have never allowed this to happen, but alas, Bill couldn't be involved, and many of you know why. But he understood the importance of keeping their clientele happy and returning. Unfortunately, he had to distance himself from the business, and hand it down to the kids. They are woefully under prepared, in my humble estimation. They wanted to charge me for a repair that was clearly caused by their error. Imagine that...chasing away any customer over a simple and relatively inexpensive issue like this. But a customer who has a history of thousands of dollars with your company??? They will learn a hard lesson, and it won't involve me any longer. All the people that older reviewers are raving about are gone. So are some of the perks. They have discontinued UBER service for customers, even though their sign out front brags of it. I'm voting with my feet and my wallet....Good luck; you're going to need it.

I dropped my car off on a Saturday, and they were able to service it, thoroughly inspect it, and even take it for a test drive since I was a first-time customer. When I picked it up, they walked me through everything step by step, which made me feel confident that they had really taken the time to look over my car. They also explained any potential maintenance that may be needed down the road, without any pressure. Everyone was honest, friendly, and trustworthy. I even brought my daughter with me, and they gave her a little toy dinosaur on wheels, which absolutely made her day. I was really happy with the service at Larry's and will definitely continue bringing my car here. Highly recommend!

So I've gone to Oil Changers in Fremont on Thornton Avenue (Too Slow) went to Oil Changers on Mission Boulevard in Hayward got shorted a quart, went to Winton Oil Changers questioned if he checked my Tires he asked me" oh you want your tires checked too"?.." What isn't that part of the Service"? Last straw took my truck to Oill changers in Hayward on B Street to get a TOP OFF. I had a full service recently end of May only less than 2 months and immediately was told by this heavy set Asian kid that their records indicate Im DUE for oil change??? He asks for my milage and proceeds to tell me I missed the 2000 mile mark of getting a TOP OFF and it will be $7 for a quart to TOP off. I say no and leave. I pulled over and calculate the mileage from when I was there to now. And low and behold it's less than 2k. Called the shop back complained to the person on the phone what the policy is for a TOP OFF , he tells me it's 3000 miles. So seems noone there knows. If the records show I exceeded the 2k miles then they know I was there for Full Service ? Why is the asian kid telling me our records show your Due a oil? If you people are so cheap and nitpicky about getting a top off when I was in my mileage perimeters that you set or don't even know whether it's 2K or 3K then I can take my business elsewhere there are a lot of oil changing places believe me. You not only lost the customer but you've lost the customer for life let that sink in. When a customer comes in for a top off and you give them the runaround. Have a good day.
