I visited for a Mindful Mornings event on a rainy November morning. Nearby metered street parking was easy to grab. For this event the space was set up for a presentation. A large projector screen was displayed in the front of the room. Small tables were set up on the side featuring some caffeine and sweets from local businesses who partnered for this event. There was ample seating around the room. The signs on the wall could be quickly changed to accommodate a menu or just an inspirational quote or message to fit the theme of the space. In the back of the room there was a full professional kitchen ready for some of the area's culinary talent to make magic happen. From their website "Created and sponsored by Grow. ENJOY: is a 501(c)(3), with a mission to raise funds for local, culturally-focused charities through unique creative experiences." I am so excited that this space exists and I will be actively keeping an eye out for unique local experiences in this space.

On their menu you can get a meat pie filled with gumbo, split andouille sausage, roast beef with onion and collards, roasted squash or catfish. With a meatpie you can get a side of creole potatoes or red beans and rice. I must say that these pies do sellout quickly when they do a pop up, when I went to O'Connors brewery to try them out they were sold out of several options. I wanted a sausage pie with potatos, but I had to settle for a catfish pie with red beans and rice. The pie was nice and flakey and filled with meat which I appreciated, by no means were they skimpy the mean. It tasted delicious paired with their chipotle aïoli. I will say that the red beans and rice were a tad underseasoned for my taste. Another suggestion for improvement would be to develop a way to keep the pies heated, but not have them dry out as the day moves on, which I understand may be a challenge. Overall I am quite smitten with the concept of Voodoo Pies and I can't wait to catch them again at another pop-up to try what I wanted, and to see how they develop in the future. This restaurant used to be our favorite Hawaiian BBQ spot, so it's really disappointing to see how much it has changed. Unfortunately, we won't be returning.
