Visited on Mother's Day night and unfortunately the wait was extremely long, even with reservations. The restaurant was very crowded and the delay definitely took away from the experience. I ordered the salmon and it was good, but honestly not worth the amount of time we waited. Overall, not a terrible experience, but I expected smoother service considering we had reservations. The waiter was nice and the vibe in the restaurant was positive. Parking was tight.

Usually our date nights here at the restaurant are a 10 out of 10 however our last time we visited which was a few days ago it was just okay the buffalo wings that we ordered they were not good I don't know if they needed more seasoning or a little bit more love to them but I definitely don't recommend them... they look nice snd golden but that's it. The holiday drink I tried was the margarita that was very good!! The atmosphere was definitely festive Lively for a Wednesday night parking was available we dined with other couples as well and everybody seemed to have a great time. We ordered appetizers drinks as well and entrees and opted to take our dessert home and on this night in particular take home desserts were 25% off so that's always a plus our waiter Kevin was amazing. But still, I highly recommend you check out this place they have happy hour I believe daily as well...a great atmosphere... a great time... Good Eats... usually! Have fun and enjoy life :)

Came in for happy hour for the first time and tried both the raw oysters and the Oysters Rockefeller, both were solid. Oh and the she-crab soup was a really nice surprise, we all really enjoyed it! I also ordered an espresso martini, which was really good and definitely a highlight of the visit. Our server, Jeff, was friendly and personable, but the attentiveness just wasn't quite there. A couple of minor requests were forgotten, and two of our orders never made it in. We eventually told him not to worry about it, but it did take away from the overall experience. The food itself was good, and the happy hour menu has some nice options, but the service could've been tighter. Not a bad visit, just room for improvement.

Aberdeen is one of those restaurant that's a Va Beach staple. I've been coming here for over 20 years now and nothing has changed, from the menu to the decor lol! I guess you have to appreciate the timelessness. The food is a hit or miss. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's just blah. It can be overly salty or seafood over cooked. I had broccoli and they steamed the heck out of it. Crab cake is loaded, hardly no fillers. So that's a plus. The staff is always so nice, so I always appreciate the customer service. Also be aware they automated put the 20% gratuity no matter the party size. The drinks are always yum. Definitely a nice place to dine for that special occasion or date night.

Met a friend from out of town here for dinner. Parking is a tight and a literal nightmare. This is a casual steakhouse and inside it's very jam-packed/tight.. seating is literally on top of each other. The hostess took us to our seats, but our table had leftovers from another table on it. Anyways, our server was nice. I wasn't too hungry. So, I had the recommended she crab soup, which was tasty... especially since I'm not typically a fan of chowder-like soups. Although not native to a place like that, I ordered the escargot, which was also good. My friend ordered lollipop lamb which was a little overdone that came with mint jelly. mint jelly was interesting to say the least. Overall it was ok, not sure it was worth the hour drive and hectic parking.

Aberdeen Barn is hands down one of the best dining experiences I've had in Virginia Beach! I ordered the Steak Oscar and it was perfection tender, flavorful, and topped with crab and a rich, velvety Béarnaise sauce that took it over the top. Every bite felt like a special trip. For sides, do yourself a favor and get the mashed potatoes. Creamy, buttery, garlicky and the perfect complement to the steak - they tie the whole dish together beautifully. Drinks? Don't miss the espresso martinis or old fashions during happy hour. They're smooth, perfectly balanced, and the ideal way to kick off the evening. From the cozy atmosphere to the attentive service, Aberdeen Barn delivers on every level. Whether you're celebrating something special or just treating yourself to a great meal, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back... most likely during happy hour those prices are amazing. Or, maybe Monday & Wednesday for buck a shuck oysters . Fantastic dinner! Cheers.

Finally found it! And what is not to like about this place! You can tell it's been here for years and local favorite! Just by the decore it really has a nice cabin &steak house feel! I have been looking for a place that has best tasting "Prime Rib" that's juicy, tender and melt in your mouth. And this is the spot! I ordered the 14oz and WOW it was huge. I don't care what it costs as long as it's perfect! And it was definitely perfect. The Aujus dipping sauce was perfect. My baked potato was perfect! My Cesar Salad was good but the dressing a little to lemony. I definitely had a to go bag! I am very happy I found the perfect place for Prime Rib. I will definitely try their other steaks which I am sure they are just as good! Definitely will be back! And don't forget to ask about their specials.

Great steak and seafood restaurant! Note they add automatic 20% gratuity to every check but the great service here warrants at least that. Crackers and cheese dip are provided at table and they serve nice warm loaf of bread before your meal. While they serve steak here, we were here for the seafood and the 1lb lobster tail (note the tail is 1lb and not the lobster). Other folks had seafood (fish & chips and crab cake). Their crab cake was definitely one of the better ones I've ever had. Mostly crab and not a lot of filler. Got the 1lb lobster tail grilled. It was big but not the biggest I've ever had. The side butter for dipping was a bit saltier than I like. Overall an decent meal and great service. Will try the steak next time we're here.

My wife and I ate here last night and we were excited they offered a tomahawk steak as we have eaten these at other restaurants. It took almost 30 minutes for us to even get drinks at our table, the service was crazy slow. Our waiter was extremely apologetic, offering a "sorry" several times. The outside edges of the steak were decent, but literally after the first three bites it was horrible. We have had better steaks at Texas steakhouse! There is no way to justify $200 for what it's was. We asked for a box so that we could bring the rest home to feed our dogs, true story. I left a comment card on the table with my contact information, but never heard back. I don't know if it was an off night, they were lacking servers, there was a new chef, but with this, as our recent experience, we would not consider returning. Tonight is P.F. Chang's, and then Ruth's Chris. We may just stick to what is tried and true. Presentation was phenomenal, but unfortunately, it ended there

We went on Valentine's Day. They booked a BUNCH of people at the same time waiting. I was surprised it went so smooth. The wait staff worked together as a team and they got all of the people in and settled and they were running around and zero stress. The food was delicious and everything was perfect with the exception that they seated a table of 20 people behind us who were incredibly loud and ruined our lunch/dinner. It was not the staff's fault at all nor was it anybody's fault the people were having fun but we just wanted a quiet time together. I will definitely go back. It was definitely worth it.

Ask the Community - Aberdeen Barn Steakhouse

Do you still have the combo steak and lobster and how much?

These people are greedy ! Quality has gone down. They charge an automatic 20% gratuity no matter how many in the party. I really don't know about a combo. The old menu has changed and several items have been taken off.

    Can you wear jeans?

Yes, no real dress code there, just overpriced food in a dated restaurant.

The location itself has a nice setup with indoor seating, outdoor seating, and a covered porch-style area that feels like a screened-in four-season space, which was really pleasant. We were seated fairly quickly and received menus, but there was some confusion because the menu listed breakfast and brunch items only. We were hoping to order lunch, but were later informed that lunch service doesn't begin until after 2:30 PM. I do wish that detail was clearly noted on their website, as it wasn't mentioned and it would've helped set expectations ahead of time. The brunch menu itself was fairly limited and didn't have many standout options for us. I ended up asking for a BLT with fries, and my friend ordered a crab cake sandwich. We also asked about cocktails since prices weren't listed on the menu (only happy hour pricing was shown). We were initially told drinks were around $11, later informed our Palomas were actually $9, which was a nice surprise--but it would be helpful if regular pricing was clearly displayed. Service was a bit inconsistent. It took a while for our waitress to initially greet us, and after our food arrived, we had to flag someone down for basic condiments (ketchup, mayo on the side, and tartar/remoulade for the crab cake). Our waitress did check on us once during the meal, but overall service felt a little stretched. Food came out very quickly once ordered, which we appreciated. However, attention to detail with plating could improve--for example, the tomato used in my sandwich was the end piece, which affected the overall quality of the sandwich presentation. Overall, I would consider coming back, but more for lunch or dinner rather than brunch. The atmosphere and location are nice, but the brunch experience and service consistency didn't fully meet expectations this visit.

It would have been a bigger mess if the potatoes were too soft. I'm not sure why there was a police car parked outside but that was definitely a surprise. I think the officer was on the phone(?) with someone but it wasn't obvious so people seemed to keep pausing to figure out if he was speaking to them. When I got inside I saw a big group which seemed to be a bit annoyed because they couldn't get seated until the rest of their party arrived. I do understand restaurants wanting to seat the whole table at the same time but it did make the entrance/exit a bit crowded for everyone else. I didn't look around inside too much but did see empty tables. I approached the two people at the front desk about my pick-up order and they pointed me to a different pick-up desk (with two more people there). They had maybe ten bags of pick-up orders but were able to find mine quickly. I was pretty glad to get out of there quickly and enjoy our food at home.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV
