I have emergency dental issues, and because my insurance isnt accepted everywhere I have to go to La Clinica where it is accepted. They, La Clinica de Familia, Inc. is a Federal Health Center Program grantee under 2 U.S.C. 254b, and a deemed Public Health Service employee under 42 U.S.C. 233(g)-(n). And one of FEW places in the state of NM that take my crappy health care insurance. But I cant get in to see anyone for months at a time. Making my dental issues more and more urgent the longer i WAIT to be seen. I had an early appointment and they canceled it to re-schedule me because the doctor was out, and now im waiting six months. If that appointment gets rescheduled I could be waiting a year. HOW IS THIS HEALTH CARE?? How is CARE defined as leaving people to wait untill they are more ill or in a more critical condition due to time. After moving California this year, I went for a regular checkup and found that there was a huge cavity in the crown. The doctor in charge said that the crown was manufactured incorrectly, causing not only cavities but also serious gum problems. I called the general dental office and asked for some compensation, and they said they would never compensate me unless I came to the office and had it remade. These crowns cause tremendous mental and physical pain. I currently live in California, so why do I travel back and forth to El Paso? In fact, no longer want to entrust my teeth to the doctor who made the bad crown. If they were truly fulfilling their ethical obligations, they would have taken some responsibility for the bad Crown, which was only made seven months ago I am so disappointed and depressed.

While the clinical staff was polite and I appreciated their honesty in admitting they weren't comfortable performing surgery on that specific tooth, the administrative and management side of this business is an absolute train wreck. An entire year after my appointment, I received a casual text message from "Kayla" stating that they were just now processing a dental insurance claim from May 28, 2025. They asked me to text them back either the billing zip code or the primary subscriber's Social Security Number. Because texting an SSN is a massive data security risk, and waiting a full year to process a claim is incredibly sloppy, I left a review calling out the delay. The owner immediately responded to my review with a blatant public lie, claiming they had called and text blasted me "throughout the year trying to get this fixed" but that I had ignored them. Fortunately, I have the receipts. I uploaded screenshots of my text history with this office proving that every single communication they sent me over the last year was an automated marketing push trying to get me to schedule a routine cleaning. When I called the office to confront them about this, the receptionist looked at my file and completely contradicted the owner's response. She admitted their internal records show they only attempted to contact me about insurance ONCE in August 2025, and then sat on it for nine months until today. It gets worse. When I spoke to the manager about why the owner publicly lied on Google and blamed me for "ignoring" them, his actual defense was: "Maybe if you answered when we called for a dental cleaning, we would have asked about insurance too." Expecting a patient to telepathically guess that a routine marketing call for a cleaning is actually an urgent insurance issue is completely absurd. Instead of taking accountability for a massive back-office delay and fixing their dishonest public reply, management chose to double down on gaslighting. Jessica made everything easy for me with her quick responses and kept me on track. The hygienist did a great job hands down 5stars same with Leslie and her team mate made sure I was well every chance they had. They work great with the doctor! Everyone and even the manager had been very polite, its like as if they are 100% real people. Either they get paid very well or they love what they do! (Hint for Dr Amir) They answered every question and made my visit welcomed and at home. I couldn't answer with my mouth full of spit, pillow block, and few other things lol... But the assistants and Dr. Amir were very attentive and cared about my well being during dental procedures. Cons: Remember I said I felt at home? Yes, I went in on a very pact date, Christmas Eve. But... I felt at home home.. watched a full movie. Think the words gone out that Dr Amir and his team are rockstars and the place just gets packed easily. Maybe they need another Dr. Or... they may just need to call in less appointments daily. You expect them to tell you everything they are going to do to you prior to consenting to any type or surgery right? But that was one thing that was never mentioned. The lady that comes in to charge you and claims to be the office manager is the the rudest person in that place. When she explains the charges she tries to tell you everything quick like she's obviously trying to make you feel rushed before so you can sign quickly. When asked questions she barely answers and now I see why. When I called back to ask why I was being charged for a bone graft the lady named Claudia who I'm sure was the same lady I dealt with due to her tone and attitude in her voice began acting very hostile, extremely rude and basically couldn't give a straight answer. Her reasoning was, we charged you that because you got it done. Now I looked at videos of what a bone replacement graft is and my procedure looked nothing like that and again was never mentioned. Anyway, learning experience. Positive things: the staff ( besides that awful woman) were very nice and welcoming. I dealt with the dentist that extracted my tooth and a different one when I went back for the follow up and both very nice and professional, answered all my questions. I didn't know about the bone graft at this time until after I left the follow up if not that would have been a definite question. I would say next time but I'm not so sure if I can go back to this place. Im very upset to that "manager" handled the situation.
