I really enjoyed my shawarma - super nice staff, clean restaurant, good food: well done! A note: they have a sticker on their front cash saying "people love us on Yelp" yet their business is unclaimed and they only have 9 reviews - found that odd. That said, I was impressed and those stickers don't come easy - my guess is that there are multiple listings of this place (I'll check that out after). The actual sandwich was made really well, not too much of any ingredient, and the gentleman servicing us was careful to spread them out nicely for even bits of yummy-ness. The chicken was cooked as perfectly as it can be on those rotisseries, and I throughly enjoyed it to the last bite. The location is not the greatest, but they have done well to make it look decent inside and the food is good, so I would go back. Five start for shawarma! read more

Mangos Cafe is the best shawarma making restaurant in my opinion. The food not only tastes excellent but is prepared fresh in addition there is tons of options to choose from. Probably one of my (former) favourite shawarma places in town. I've been coming here for about 6 years. Had the most flavourful chicken and portions that tower and overflow over your plate. As of recently, I've noticed I don't see the regular employees anymore. The flavour is disappointing, the portions are underwhelming, and I learned today they do not wash their vegetables. I found stickers on my vegetables. They didn't have any garlic sauce in the past 2 times I visited (what kind of shawarma place doesn't have garlic sauce?!). I get it, we're in a pandemic and business is hurting. But I don't get it business is hurting and you compensate by giving half the portions and NOT WASHING VEGETABLES DURING A PANDEMIC? Never coming here again. Do not recommend. Ottawa is the city of shawarma, you're better off trying one of the other 100 shawarma shops in town. read more

My absolute favourite place for shawarma in Ottawa! My family has been going here for 20 years, and even now that I've moved away we always have one big Mango's feast when I'm back in town for a visit. If you are sharing with a big family I recommend getting a few of their mixed platters or shawarma plates with extra garlic potatoes and baklava for dessert. Highly recommended :) read more

I got drawn to this place for the fried chicken - I'm always on the lookout for good fried chicken in the city. Loved the fact that they had it ready to go. Got a 2 piece to taste, and a small Mango's Surprise smoothie. The chicken was great, no too salty, not to greasy. I've had better, but his was pretty good. The smoothie - mango puree, berry puree, cantaloupe, honey dew melon, strawberries, pineapple, guava, a splash of honey, mile, and a scoop of ice. To say it was delicious and refreshing would be an understatement. The place is nicely laid out, with lots of room for large groups. Service is fast and friendly too. Next visit I will be trying the shawarma. read more

When I lived in the Middle East, I used to eat at this place called Canary - where they made fresh shawarma and served these delicious fruit and honey drinks. Moving back home, I was devastated thinking that I would never again know the wonder that is fresh shawarma. But, thankfully, Ottawa has a HUGE Arab population and there is practically a shawarma place on every corner. Mango's is located in a strip plaza near Alta Vista and Bank, near that huge Independent Grocery. Walking in the door was like stepping back in time for me. Mmmmmm.... They have beef and chicken shawarmas, and with all the fixins - lettuce, tomatoes, those purple pickled veggie (what is that?) and that garlic white sauce. They are having a sale now where you get two shawarma sandwiches for only $7.50 - a DEAL! You need to go there now. Think outside the bun...WAAAAY outside the bun. read more

I am literally in love with this place, they have the best shawarma and every time I am in Canada visiting family we go here like twice a day everyday we are there. Every time we walk in the guy behind the counter greets us with "oh! my california girls!" and always makes us feel super welcome and hooks us up because we only get to taste the goodness like once every year. But anyways, they have the best sauce which makes the tri-tip super flavorful and their turnips are my favorite! Also, their fruit cup is to die for. I always get a mixture of all the fruits, both juices, extra pistachios, and extra of that cheese stuff they have in between. I highly recommend this place for any shawarma lover! read more

Their fruit cup is amazing, the ashtah (a sort of cheese curd) really ties the fruit and juices together, and basically creates a more delectable version of a cottage cheese fruit salad. I love Mango's and really wish they had it in the states. The service is friendly, the food is good, they are overly generous in proportions. What's not to love? I mean I would KILL to get a shawarma that tasty anywhere near maryland. The ladies that work their are horrible. Have no sense of customer service. No good communication skills and their moody expressions looks as though they've been slapped and forced to stand there and work. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate and the tahini was so runny as if they've watered it down. Chicken was dry and TASTELESS. Everything was tasteless. Horrible food and service.
