Friendly and welcoming service. I was intimidated before stopping in being with two kids, but this cafe is 100% kid friendly! After checking out the unisex bathroom, the kid and I discovered a rack of toys, games and blankets. So fun and adds extra charm to this restaurant. So coming back here!

So it was on a recent Tuesday morning that I popped in and ordered the Banana Bread French Toast ("House banana bread, served with cinnamon apple compote, local maple syrup, fresh whipped cream") for takeout. The food was ready about 10 minutes later and I was back at the rental and eating five minutes after that. It's really, really good. The French toast by itself is impressively not too sweet, but the when you eat it with the syrup and the apple compote and the cream, it turns into a perfectly balanced, super delicious concoction. I also got their ice coffee and we both agreed that it was far better than most ice coffees we've ever had. What an awesome little place.

I ordered the Bird's Nest Benny. The eggs were the most perfectly poached I've ever had at a restaurant. A side came with the benny, and I got the baked beans. The food was absolutely delicious. Potatoes, eggs, bacon, and maple-lime hollandaise that was to die for. There was so much food. Impossible to walk away hungry. Service was perfect as well. His name wasn't on the receipt, but he treated me like I was just as important as the group diners. No solo diner curse here. Cute spot, very clean, perfect service and food with quality ingredients. Today I asked the staff when the pastries on display were made, and they seemed to be confused at first, and then they had to admit that the pastries weren't prepared today. I ended up not buying them at all to not the risk of eating spoiled food. They told me that they also have fresh ones but why do they charge fresh and stale pastry for the same price then?! The drinks are mediocre. For instance, they charge almost 8 dollars for a small seasonal drink. It's not even good at all, as if tasteless. The overall atmosphere isn't welcoming due to the constant smell of burning, unfriendly stuff, and some of the kitchenware seems to be not cleaned well, for instance, the toaster, there is a lot of soot on it that constantly burns. The stuff isn't suitable for working in hospitality. They seem to not be interested in what they're doing, and that's why they do it badly and don't put much effort. That is what happens when the owner hires students for whom working in a cafe isn't a profession but just a side hassle. Also, their appearance wasn't nice. By saying that I mean their clothes didn't look neat and tidy, and their hair was uncombed and loose. To sum up, Red Door Provisions is just another overrated cafe that might make an impression of a cute and cozy place with delicious drinks and pastries at first but it turns out to be even worse than mediocre. Ordered a Huevo Ranchero ($16) - which came with scrambled eggs two corn tortillas with salsa, cheese, sour cream and a side order of fries. The eggs could have used some seasoning even with salsa it needed something extra A Vegan Breakfast Bowl ($14) - a mixture of tofu, spinach, mushrooms and tomato chutney - which somehow tasted to all 4 of us like onion chutney. The vegetables done good, but tofu again had just no flavour. Tofu had a spice rub all over, but it tasted like plain tofu. The Bacun strips were rice paper rolls with some attempted flavours but none came through. And two Vegan Bennies ($16) - a super grainy slice of bread topped with the same tofu, green onions, Bacun and some red pepper strips (NOT Coulis as described in the menu). If some person was having a tofu dish for the first time I think they would describe tofu as no flavour at all. We vegans know that you can do amazing things with Tofu. The home fries in the above dishes was the best - now that we could give 5 out 5. All of us had to go and get Sriracha and Ketchup from the counter to rescue the dishes. Coffee was too weak as well. When you go in and order on the counter and you get food delivered to your table. Should the restaurant still offer to tip on the machine BEFORE even we were served? The order did take a long time, the table not clean when we sat, no condiments on the table and coffee refills slow. An extra star for giving tons of vegan options
