This is my family's go-to brunch spot and we cannot recommend this place enough. Everything from their AMAZING service to the quality of their food and coffees are perfect. It's a family run business and everyone is always super nice! Every time we go - not even an exaggeration- they always serve guests with the brightest smile. They're so thoughtful and caring and really make you want to come here just for the interactions. Also, can I just say- for some reason, it's always so hard to find GOOD quality black coffee that's not sour and that the portions are fair for its price. LUNA HANDS DOWN has one of the best coffees in Ottawa and the portion size is 10/10. I was staying in the nearby Brookstreet hotel and loved this place. Fast service due to ordering at the counter, calm atmosphere. The quality of the food is very high. I believe the prices are accurate given the quality. You can customize how much food you want by ordering sides (I ordered two sides and felt totally stuffed.) The only thing I regret about the place is that the tables and chairs feel a little like an upscale cafeteria. But the overall vibe is adorable. Great fruit salad! read more

This is one of our favorite dessert spots in Kanata also a great place for family lunch! Went there today, tables 2 meters apart and menu still amazing. Had a berry waffle very fresh and yummy and a nice veggie crepe. One of our favourites is zatar and halloumi crepe. Great tip that chicken and beef are Halal here ! Some people like to have breakfast for dinner, I like to have lunch for breakfast, lol. I'm at the Luna right now having a Chicken Italiano Crepe and side Garden Salad ($11) for breakfast! So glad they let me order from the lunch menu :) The crepe is large and the side salad is a real mixed greens salad (no iceberg nonsense) with shredded carrots, 2 cucumber slices and a slice of tomato. I forgot to ask for the dressing on the side but luckily for me they always serve it on the side :) The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette and it was good. Salad ingredients were fresh. The crepe had slices of chicken breast, spinach, avocado slices, red onions and pesto. It was delicious, but just a little too oily for me (likely due to the pesto). Nonetheless, I still enjoyed it. I loved this place. Small, locally owned, not insanely crowded; the food was AMAZING! It's a little on the $$ side but not crazy, and comparable to a chain at similar cost for breakfast, this place takes the cake...crepe! Haha Seriously though, our experience was very good. The service was kind and quick, and the flavor of the food was absolutely delish - I had a savory crepe with spinach and feta, along with a side of turkey bacon to top it off, and my boyfriend had a sweet crepe with strawberries, bananas, and Nutella. Not the best service but the spot is nice and cozy. I like the food and desserts. I've been a few times. My most recent experience, I asked if the matcha powder has sugar in it and I was assured it doesn't. My drink was very sweet. I asked again if it was sweetened. She said no and showed me the bag. Sure enough, it said 13g of sugar per tablespoon. I didn't drink my drink, paid $7.50 for it and she didn't offer to make something else. Oh well. I'll still return because I like it there, but just know that if they know they gave you ingredients you told them ahead of time can't have, they don't take accountability for it. read more

I was craving gelatos and popped in, but was disappointed to find that only a small selection was available (only about half of what was listed). I ordered the strawberry and mango small gelato and they were alright, but I've definitely had better tasting and more fresh ones. However, the prices are quite reasonable at $5 small, $6 regular, $8 large. It's quiet and the interior is nice. Indoor dining and patio dining are available. read more

Luna gas changed ownership yet again. I wonder if thus place is going downhill. They have removed the water jug so now you have to ask for water. This is a very odd thing to do in a place that serves coffee and food. The lights to the hallway where the bathroom is located are out and it seems to gave an overall appearance if being run down. The milk and cream pitchers have not been cleaned or put away at night. Is that a good thing? They put in a large screen TV so I guess that us where they are putting the money. I wonder if the food will be as good as I remember. Time will tell. I will come back for a knit-up but not food. read more

I want to love this place but currently I don't. People kept telling me about Luna so I had to drop by. I'll start by saying I personally did a personal no no which is go to a restaurant and not try the item that the place was named for. It's like going to a pizza place for pasta or a burger joint for a chicken sandwich, it's just not right...but I did it anyways, so my bad! I had a chicken pesto sandwich with a side of caesar salad. The meal was about $10...slightly expensive but it's a gourmet place so it has to be good right? Not really. The chicken pesto sandwich was ok. I didn't love it but the salad sucked and reminded me of cafeteria style or buffet style caesar salad or even something bought from the Metro across the street. I will go back for some crepes eventually and of course, I will try the gelato because we know gelato is one of my favourite food groups along with bacon. read more

Went for Mother's Day and was surprised to get a table right away. Watched them shoo people out once they finished their food and while they were still sipping their coffee so others could have their place. Lots of eye rolling from the dismissed patrons. I ordered a waffle and then seconds later changed my mind and asked for a crepe. A sweet waffle with powdered sugar came 30 minutes later without an explanation. At the end of our meal the server asked if I liked my untouched waffle and when I said "not at all" she walked away without a word. Will be my last visit and probably the last visit for those given the bums rush as well. read more

It's been a thing on my to do list to come and try this place for a long time. I'm glad I finally did! The crepe we ordered was a Choco fruit waffle and it was fantastic! This waffle was big and came generously topped. In addition to this waffle I thoroughly enjoyed the Iced vanilla coffee chill which definitely hit the spot. A nice place to grab something to eat and talk. Nice comfy couches and other types of seating depending on what type of mood you are in. There's even outdoor seating! They had great food selection, I ordered a chicken avocado Italiano wrap as part of the lunch special and it came with a Caesar salad. It was a nice place and the owners were pleasant to chat with. I just moved to Ottawa from Toronto and I was hoping to find some nice cafe thats on the same level as the ones you find there. One thats not one of the major franchises. This place was ok. They seem to be under new management and I'm guessing recently did a lot of reno. The place has some couches and plenty of seating. They also serve gelato which I didn't get to try. I ordered the vegetarian crepe (good to see some vegetarian options) and I have to say it was delicious! I also ordered a latte which was pretty good too. I went on a sunday and it was pretty empty. The ambiance was good, not the NICEST place but definitely better than any other independent cafe I've found in Kanata. I think its great how they've introduced a pleasant cafe in Kanata. It really needs it. I hope more businesses learn from them and we can start getting more options besides Tim Hortons and Starbucks. Overall, WOULD RECOMMEND. read more

I too very much wanted to like this restaurent, so I decided to give it a go back in Feb 2012. Was I ever dissapointed. It was a Sunday, and as expected with most crepe and cafe places it was begining to fill up. The restaurent was pretty full, and being new to this place, I found their ordering system VERY confusing. Although there were a few tables free, they were all cluttered with used plates, forks, cups ec.., so I adamently looked around for some direction, thinking there would be at least a busboy or waiter (or even anyone) to talk to for direction. I attempted to ask someone at the serving counter and everyone seemed to busy to talk to me, so I took a seat at one of the cluttered tables, sending my better half to order from the menu. He ordered for us two lattes, two Greek crepes with a side of toast. Simple enough right? It should have been. While I took it upon myself to clear my own table, having put the plates and the cups on a banister next to me, my better half came back to sit with me carrying a number board, indicating our order. While the gentlemen who served him at the cash (we had to prepay for our food) told him he would be right over with our lattes, it took over 35 minutes, and a stern walk back to the cash to remind them what they forgot, we finally recieved our less than average drinks. I admit it was a busy morning, but half the staff were running around like they didn't know what to do. And no, the owner was not present (at this particular moment anyway.) While waiting for our beverages, the table next to us which consisted of four adults and four children completed what looked like a satisfying meal, got up and left, leaving their lovely empty plates behind them. Good! At least they enjoyed a good breakfast. Their empty plates (which I timed) sat on those two tables for 1 hour and 45 minutes before they were cleaned up...and thats excacly how long it took for them to remove the dishes I cleared from my own table off of the banister next to me. So, 1 hour and 45 minutes...my crepe still has not appeared at our table (which still hadn't even been wiped!) which was getting me very frustrated at that point. It's a sunday morning, I'm hungry, I have other errands I need to run, and I don't feel I should wait this long for a crepe. As the owner comes flying past us in his lovely pink shirt, he immediatly gets behind the lines (Many customers outraged at this point) and starts the crepes. About 25 more minutes after he makes his appearance, my partner and I FINALLY recieved our crepes...and not our toast, which we were starving, enraged, and just wanted to get out of there at that point. I would have left this place sooner if we hadn't prepaid for our meal. The owner came by very apologetic, and to my annoyance (...again I'm very hungry, my patience has run dry, and I just want to eat and get the heck out) sits down at our table and talks to my partner about how he can improove the restaurent, and how tired he is, and how many hours he puts in. Seriously? This conversation went on for about 10 minutes before he finally left our table and offered us a free Gelato after we finished our crepes. After over two hours waiting for a simple crepe, what I got on my plate was certainly NOT WORTH my time and expense. The consistancy of the crepe was fine, however I didn't pay $10 for the crepe be filled with a huge serving of melted feta cheese, a handful of cut olives with the pimentoes still inside, and one slice of tomato. AND...no toast which we paid for. As for the free gelato, I didn't even bother staying for it because I was that angry. Not under any circumstances will I ever return to Luna's having having been dissapointed on all aspects of customer service, and food quality. read more

This is an excellent spot to have breakfast. It has unusual but tasty offering for breakfast. We had an avocado feta omelette that was full of flavour. Our only negative comment would be that the omelette was a little small. We also had the matcha tea latte. It was amazing and something we had ever heard of before. Luna used to be a nice place until a recent change of management. I went there. Weekly with friends or family. The new manager is very aggressive and rude. In two different occasion, I was shocked to see him arguing and shouting at customers (once over Groupon coupons that he didn't want to honour) Service got much slower with many order mistakes.
