I usually only eat the whole chicken they sell here. It's really good!!! But the few times I've had their food it's pretty good. However, I find it a little salty even though I'm Dominican I should be used to the seasonings...but maybe it's because I'm used to consuming low amounts of sodium in my diet. OK. I agree with A LOT of the reviews here unfortunately. Here are a few of my gripes with this place. 1. The service: When you sit down to eat it has to be the SLOWEST service ever. I've waited almost an hour for rice and beans that was most likely already cooked and the food wasn't even fresh. How is this possible?? Also, the wait staff. Not even one of these women go out of their way to be nice or serviceable or attentive. How do you get a job serving people food and taking their orders when those are some of the requirements? It's really, really crazy. I mean, I'm sure there is at least one nice one but I haven't met her yet. The women behind the counter are alright I guess. 2. The food: I literally only ever buy Dominican food here when a) I'm in the mood and don't feel like cooking the same damn kind of food at home, only a million times better. Or b) My best friend who isn't Dominican like me wants to eat that kind of food. So, yea I've only been here about 3 times in 2 years. It has to be some of the worst Dominican food I've ever had. My mom cooks circles around it, seriously. The beans have no flavor, the rice portion is so small compared to other places and the prices are inexplicably higher. The best thing they have is the coffee. It's really awesome and delicious but I wouldn't even recommend any desserts here. They don't look fresh or homemade. So there you go. There food is barely making the cut the only reason they are in service is because theres no dominican food for miles so it's convenient for us college pointers. I have been eating here for a good year. They started off good however recently the food has been HORRIBLE!! Yesterday I had food delivered it took almost two hours, food was ice cold, the wrong order and tasted HORRIBLE. I had the steak and onions and shrimp with platains. When I called to tell them the food was cold and I received the wrong order they said sorry. Consistently good food with big portions. You just have to know what to order. The pork is good, the goat is great, the fish is usually dry. The roasted chicken is kinda dry but good once slathered with hot sauce. The stewed chicken is delicious. They seem to be cutting back on the portions a bit but you still get a lot of food. I ordered chicken tacos once but found there were too many little bones in the meat. I also tried the mofongo but it was a bit underwhelming. I usually stick to the buffet items. They sometimes have a chicken and spaghetti dish that is also very good. Empanadas are made to order and served piping hot. This has consistently been one of the best/cheapest dining options in College Point for years. read more

This is the last time I will order from this place. I like the owner so I've given it the benefit of the doubt far too many times. Today was the camel that broke the camel's back. I ordered a simple breakfast of Mangu, salami with cheese and eggs, and an oatmeal, along with chicken soup. These are dishes that are already prepared. Well I waited over an hour and a half for the delivery. When I called to inquire about the delivery, the employee said that the order went out and wasn't apologetic about the wait. I told her to cancel it and she responded fine and stated "What do you want me to do" This should have been a question. She obviously lacks customer service skills. Just as I cancelled, the food arrived (missing something and cold of course). The delivery guy (the one star is for him) was remorseful and polite. He said that they had him wait for 10 deliveries to go out. It's a shame the quality of the restaurant has gone down since they relocated. Walked in yesterday to get some quick lunch. Firstly, we had to wait about 20 minutes to even order our food, the place was NOT busy but the waitress working was on her first day I believe so we were pretty patient even though she was working with another waitress who seemed the least bit interested in helping anyone. Finally, we get to put in our order, SUPER SIMPLE food (Grilled chicken breast, Steamed Veggies and Breaded Chicken breast and White rice on the side) We did not even get a glass of water until I had to ask which was about 40 minutes into just sitting there. They eventually switched the waitress that was on the floor to someone that was behind the counter, she was clearly overwhelmed which I understand. Still at this point, being patient, almost an hour later we finally get our food. No veggies, and No rice so I ask for the veggies and the rice. Boom, we get our veggies and rice. First we notice there is eggshells on the breaded chicken which we bring to the waitress's attention and she just looked at me like I was stupid. LIKE OKAY I GET IT YOUR OVERWHELMED but it's not my fault you have HORRIBLE management, Cause clearly there is a management issue going on at this place. However, my poor boyfriend was SO HUNGRY after waiting almost an hour he took off the eggshells and ate the damn chicken. Then I finally go dig into my broccoli and it is Frozen, like no Im not talking like damn this is cold, it was like you just literally took it out of the fridge. Like come on, STEAMED veggies.
