The air hums with the scent of tobacco, oak, and good decisions made slowly. Plush couches and deep leather chairs form little islands of comfort, perfect for sinking into a conversation that doesn't need to end soon. Along the walls, humidors stand like treasure chests, keeping their cigars in stately silence. Vintage wood glows everywhere--from the bar's polished surface to the beams above--each grain steeped in quiet history. Overhead, TVs flicker with old games and new ones alike, while dart boards wait nearby for a little friendly competition between sips of bourbon and curls of smoke. The bartender slides the Old Fashioned across the bar with the precision of a man who's been doing it long enough to know that showmanship is for amateurs. No fancy garnish, no chatter--just the soft clink of glass meeting wood and a nod that says this'll do. Happiness here isn't loud or glittery--it's slow-burning and pleasantly lopsided, like a jazz tune played just slightly off the beat. It seeps in between sips and smoke rings, wrapping itself around you like the worn leather of the chair you've claimed for the night. It's the kind that finds you sitting still, glass half full, smoke curling upward like a satisfied sigh. Cheers!

Christmas time is beautiful, as they decorate the ceiling with garments and ornaments and other decorations around the massive restaurant, but reservations are needed no later than 6 months in advance. If you're fine waiting 3 hours for a table max, then you will be fine. Every single time we come to Angus Barn, something is different. Now they give you a soup or salad with your meal, along with bread! The cheese and crackers are famous among the people and are a great way to start your meal. The bread is so fresh also! All components in their house salad is great. Everything is awesome! The prime rib is tender and has such good flavor. Their mac n' cheese is the way to go. Their recipe is constantly changing. Like what I previously said, something is different every time you come to Angus Barn. The chocolate chess pie is the best I've had. This is a MUST when dining at Angus Barn. You HAVE to get the chocolate chess pie. The service is some of the best in the restaurant business and all do a great job at explaining things. So kind and professional! Once again, if you're around Raleigh and don't come to Angus Barn, you are missing out. I highly recommend you come. So good!

When you arrive you'll enter the parking lot and have the option to either self park or valet. I went ahead and self parked as the parking lot wasn't too full. When you walk in you'll be transported back in time to a rustic feeling, fine dining, and country feeling (since the restaurant is in a barn) type atmosphere. We started at the bar on the second floor to have a drink and then grabbed a table. At the upstairs bar I ordered the Angus Barn Smoked Old Fashioned (Crafted with Angus Barn 65 Maker's Mark Private Selection and a special proprietary syrup, served tableside in a custom smoke box) which was very strong and a fun drink to order as it is served in a large smoke box. To grab our table we checked in with the host downstairs and were seated. Once seated the table had a complimentary dish of cheese and crackers which were surprisingly very good. For an appetizer we ordered the Wagyu Philly Cheesesteak Eggroll (Wagyu beef egg roll filled with mushrooms, onions & smoked cheddar served with a truffle garlic aioli) which were high quality and pretty heavy. The order comes with two egg rolls cut in half just as an fyi. For my entree I ordered the 22 oz bone in Royal Ribeye and upgraded the side to Mac & Cheese. Each steak is served with either soup or salad and a side. I went with the French onion soup instead of the salad. The French onion soup was very tasty and had a good amount on Gruyère cheese and bread. Additionally the ribeye was excellent and the garlic butter on the side was a nice touch. For dessert I ordered a crème brûlée which was a perfect way to end the meal. I'm looking forward to checking out the Angus Barn during the Christmas holiday season as I hear it is beautiful. Looking forward to stop in later this year for another great meal.

It has parking for patrons on the side plus some on the street. I was greeted by the guy working there and he offered to help me find something to try. This is a NICE place. It is large, clean, has lots of nice chairs that appear new and it is extremely well ventilated. There was no lingering smoke in the room. There is two large screen tvs in the back area. You can choose to sit with people there or sit off on your own... there are plenty of chairs. It also has a nice bar in the back where you can get local craft beer on draft or bottles. That is a really nice feature in my opinion. The only negative was that the cigar inventory was pretty low so the options for a cigar were limited. But I found a nice one to try. The guy working said that they had some delivery issues with cigars but more were on the way in. This is a great find if you are in the area and want a cigar. Goldsboro is lucky to have a place like this!!!

If you have more than 3-4 people in there it's practically like a hotbox more liken to what you'd see at a concert from a fog machine. The next biggest issue I've had here is their hours. They don't actually have any real hours, it's kind of just whenever they feel like closing they close especially if it's not busy. One time I showed up a few minutes before 8 with a buddy an we were told they were closing. We brought up the fact that we checked their own website and it said 10pm before we drove half an hour. We were told the website was wrong. Another time we show up on a Friday around 9pm and they are scheduled to close at 11pm. Again, we were told they were closing early around 9:30p and asked to leave. I find not keeping to your posted hours really unprofessional even if it's only 1 or 2 customers. And the hours on your website and door should always be up to date as well as Google, Yelp and Apple Maps which is where 90% of people are going to check. It's easy to sign up for a manager account on those sites. The crowd here can be really really weird. One day a buddy and I were smoking in the rocking chairs outside when we were approached by someone who entered via the gate and asked if they could sit with us (note I said sit, not join). We accepted. They then promptly invited all of their friends to join one by one as they arrived and pretty much pushed us out of the table and wouldn't really speak to us--apparently the rocking chairs are coveted and we were in "their" spot. On top of all that, every one of them brought a travel humidor, not a single one went inside and bought anything. I've seen this group here many times and I've never seen them inside to get a drink or a cigar or anything. Very strange. Finally, if you compare this place to Apex Cigar lounge it just seems small and dirty. Apex has better ventilation and lighting in the lounge. Their outside areas are nicer and much cleaner. Their humidor is twice the size. And more importantly...they keep the hours they post on their site even if you are the only person there. Heck, I've been there after hours just chilling and smoking with the staff.

The owner greeted us and was very nice and friendly. This business is very veteran supportive. Along with major cigar brands, they support veteran owned cigar makers like Southern Draw and Carolina Cigar Company. In addition, several of the beers on tap come from veteran owned breweries. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area. The outdoor area is heated. There is a $5 per year cost to smoke there. The owner, Eric, explained their rationale for that. The indoor area is nice and they have music playing. There are no sports or news stations allowed on the TV. Eric told us that their are plans to have speakers placed around for better sound and volume control. Like I said they are not perfect and are working on things, but overall this place is excellent I wish I lived closer.... And i wish they did on line ordering, but that may come later he said. Go here and check it out!!!
