This is the same review from Mother Earth Brewery. There were four of us, and we loved the tap room, the tour, the outside area, and the beer. The bartender was not that great; he wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either and couldn't answer some basic questions about their beer. Other than that, we spent a few hours here and had a great time. It's a huge space with a large bar area that is stylish, bar top tables along the walls, leather couches and seats along the opposite wall (which were so comfortable). The building is also great - vintage! Tired of the scene inside? Go outside to their back patio and sit in their comfortable seating out there, or play one of their many yard games they have out there. Side note: their corn hole boards need to be repainted, and the bean bags need to be replaced as we barely found enough to play the game. The tour was informative, interesting, and thorough. The place is spotless and they were cleaning the entire time we were in there. The thing we thought was odd, is they offer no samples of the beer. We've been on numerous brewery tours, and there are always samples. The random old school slide inside the brewery is very fun, so plan on taking a moment to slide down! The gift shop is perfect. Not too much, not too little, and not over-priced. Stay at Mother Earth Lodge while you're there so you can easily walk to and from the brewery. read more

On our way home from the beach, we plotted a course the long way home to some breweries that we have not visited before. Mother Earth, had there beers before, the mainstream regulars but; never the specialty/ seasonal offerings. We were not disappointed, although the brewery did not open until 1pm on Sunday so we walked around the mostly deserted town until they opened. We were pleasantly surprised to find this gem in a town that is trying to revitalize itself like many other small NC towns. Beer was great, we opted for some high ABV stouts. Our hostess was lovely and made excellent suggestions based on our tastes, and we enjoyed chatting with some of the other patrons. This is a pretty cool spot. They have a nice wide open floor plan so there's plenty of room for everybody. It has a really cool modern feel. They had all their standard beers on tap as well as several special collaborations with other breweries, some limited releases, and some taproom only selections. The menu is mounted in an interesting spot. Considering the size of the room, one would think that they would have several screens showing the tap list. The bar is square and if you are on either side, left or right, it's kind of hard to read. If you are on the far end of the bar there's too many obstacles to see the top list and it's too far away. In order to stand in front of the menu, you have to go to the close side and there's not a lot of room there so you basically have to be standing almost underneath the screen and looking upward to try to read it. Obviously not a big deal but interesting positioning. They have a large outdoor beer garden with a decent amount of seating. They offer corn hole and ball toss. Then there's a little alley that goes a little bit further that has additional seating which I believe is the smoking area. They are pet friendly outdoors only. read more

Just stopped by the taproom on a Sunday at two in the afternoon and was flat out ignored by the bartender. My wife asked for something non-alcoholic since she doesn't drink beer. She said flatly "water". No apologies or asked what options she had. I work in the beer industry in Durham and this kind of service is ridiculous, others were helped after we had been sitting at the bar for a while. I buy and serve MEB and currently have Dark Cloud on tap. We made a special trip here on our way home from the beach and it just kind of ruined our day. Love the beer but I'm not sure I'll make the trip again, Unfortunate...... I went across the street and grabbed a "Long Weekend" somewhere else. read more

The taproom is located in a big brick building connected to the brewery. As you enter the trendy taproom, you will see a sleek bar with modern glass light fixtures, taps, and colorful artwork that pops against the brick walls. The wooden floor is not perfect and there's a sign that tells you so. I love how it is a mixture of old and new and it works perfectly. We arrived at 1:15 on a Saturday after eating at the Boiler Room and the taproom filled up very quickly. The bartender was very friendly and did a great job taking care of all the incoming customers and pouring pints and flights. There is a TV that lists the standard draft selection and a placard on the bar listed the specials. The drafts are about $4.50 each and you can either sit at the bar, on a side table or sofa, or out in the courtyard and enjoy your beer. There are also brewery tours on the hour. The gift shop is connected to the tap room with all kinds of MEB branded items. The beer was fresh and there is s style for all to enjoy ( Koelsch, IPA , Dunkek, wit, and Pilsner). There is also a great article on the wall that explains how the Mother Earth brewers are environmentally conscious and this, in turn, led to the gold LEED certification of the building. read more

Hitting another is North Carolina's craft breweries. Tonight we are in Kinston,NC and are having a beer at Mother Earth Brewing before heading to dinner at Chef and the Farmer. Mother Earth has about 8 unique brews and they are also making their own spirits-whiskey, gin and rum. Modern ambiance in the tap room. I had a beer called Triple Overhead. It is a double gravity brew which means it has double the alcohol. Part of the brewing process includes a stage where the beer is stored in old bourbon barrels. It is a Belgian style beer that honors the Trappist monks that inspired beer brewing in Belgium. read more

I love everything about this place. The interior is fun, a bit funky - outside patio is great too with plenty of cornhole and games. You can take tours of the facility and slide down a playground slide on the tour. What's not to love about that? Mother Earth's beer is delicious too with a lot of seasonal offerings. They focus on sustainability and help revitalize downtown Kinston with what they do. I'd recommend ordering a flight if you've not had their beer before - and taking the tour. If you're staying in town, Mother Earth Lodge is SWEET. read more

Visiting Kinston is a must if your on or near the east part of North Carolina! Mother Earth is a must stop for a great local pint. Very refreshing and they have something for most beer lovers! They also have a distillery onsite as well and they have an award winning Gin. The building seems to be an old tobacco house since Kinston was a tobacco community. After all the things we heard (not to mention the beer we've drank from that brewery) my girlfriend and I were kind of disappointed in the Tap Room, but not because of the beer, because of the service. This was our third stop on our brewery tour of Eastern NC. We did the Greenville area first, stayed over, then drove down to Kinston to start our second day. The bartender that greeted us and seemed nice at first and very talkative, but there weren't that many of us in the bar. Her name was Lindsay I think, and we told her we were from Angier and she said she was from Pittsboro, though we didn't seem to know any of the same people. After a few minutes, it was clear why she was so talkative. Our bartender was drunk! She later said to another customer (a regular I think) that she had drank a bottle or more of wine before coming into work. Honestly, we were glad when someone else came into the bar, it was a little uncomfortable. Our initial beers sat empty for a while, but she finally came back from down the hall (maybe the brewery itself) and got us another round. The beer was good, and like Duck Rabbit, the beer is better when it's on tap. The tap room was really modern (we didn't expect that in Kinston) and they had an area out back to play cornhole and other games. We left there and ate at a restaurant across the street and then headed out of town. We only tried two of their beers, but if I was back in the area, I'd go back and try more, as long as we had a sober server. read more

Stoped into Mother Earth Tap Room before we headed on over to the Chef & The Farmer. Neat brewery, definitely didn't expect the modern decor when I walked in. I liked it, but thought it was a bit like 90's night club ish. The place was packed on a later Saturday afternoon, but we were able to snag a table. They had a nice patio that was full of people enjoying the day as well. Good variety of beers, they had a sour beer on tap when I was in that I really enjoyed. Love that more places are doing sours now! My husband and friend both went with the flight-- for $10 it is a great way to try out a whole bunch of beer to narrow down what your favorite is. They do free brewery tours every hour on the hour, they seem to last about 20 minutes. We didn't partake in a tour this time around, but the people who did seemed to enjoy it. Street parking was super easy and I'd definitely return the next time I am in Kinston. read more

Nice decor when you first walk in but what's up with one tv and the only it shows the beer list. Yes, there was music playing but it was pretty boring. Ok the beer was good, not the best but definitely not horrible either. I also wanted a shirt because the logo is one of my favorites but the Trading Post was closed so I was informed. I've not been to a brewery that didn't sell that kind of stuff in the actual brewery and apparently there's only a few hour overlap for the brewery and Trading Post. Unfortunate. We were only in town for the night so one beer each no shirt/swag and we left. read more

The taproom is a nice open space adjacent to the brewery, which has a private parking lot. 5 year round drafts + 3 seasonals, and 3 wines from a local vineyard if that's your fancy. I grew up in Ktown and was so please to finally visit Mother Earth. It did not disappoint! The bar and outdoor seating areas are great, the beer is delicious (tomato beer anyone?), the tour was cool (I got to slide down a slide that was reclaimed from my childhood park :-) and bought one of the first batches of Mother Earth whiskey!
