This is my go to sandwich place when I'm near the Manhattan Beach pier area. Yes the prices are as cheap as they used to be but they still give you one killer sandwich with a lot of meat and toppings. Make sure you get it on the French roll because it's a lot bigger and it's a great role. I definitely will be back and I really like the people's attitude that worked behind the meat cutter because they're always there to help you. read more

Went to Manhattan Meats a couple times to buy some chuck for pot roast, and recently tried their sausages to grill. Meats are always fresh and tasty. The guys are always really helpful in helping you select the right size, and make sure you always get the best cuts. They are always friendly and offer amazing service. They offer an array of meats, sausages, garlic chicken, skewers, baked beans, salsa, seafood, and also make fresh sandwiches to order. One of my favorite parts of living in South Bay is my proximity to Manhattan Meats. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and always so friendly and they truly do have some of the best meat I've ever tasted. From simple, everyday stuff like ground beef to their cuts of steak. Their kebabs are my absolute favorite and are a hit at any and every BBQ. You can't go wrong with an assortment of chicken, tri-tip, and shrimp. The flavors are outstanding. Was in the area for lunch and decided to stop in and see what they had, while the selection was OK, there are other full service butchers in the area at the same or lower price points, being that it is downtown Manhattan Beach parking can be problematic, when places like whole foods, Bristol farms or Lazy Acres have better selections and are around the same price point it's much more convenient to go to one of the aforementioned markets with ample parking and better selections. read more

Fast and Friendly Service at the Deli Sandwich Counter, great fulfilling delicious sandwiches for $8.50. I had the "Manhattan" which is a combo of Lean Medium Rare Roast Beef and Roasted White Meat Turkey Breast sliced cold cuts. I'd recommend this as a great sandwich spot! Parking can be easy or tough, depending on the day and time of day, and during the December Holidays the meters are free. read more

What a gem! When I couldn't get my pork roast from Ralphs or Wild Fork both in Manhattan Beach (see those reviews), I decided to try here. What a gem they are! They were out of boneless pork loin roast, but the butcher took the time to take a bone in, remove the bones and clean it up very nice with no dangling stringy pieces of meat and no extra fat. While other places would weight first and then clean up, they cleaned up first and then weighed it. Sure, they charge a bit more here for their meats, but they are old school old fashioned meat store. This is not my first purchase here, one year I ordered a beautiful turkey that came out very nice and have their steaks. read more

That means big money these days, but the quality of their meat and seafood (from Santa Monica Seafood) is the best. Try their homemade tamales, baked beans too. Only been living in MB for a couple months but have already gone here a half dozen times for steaks and fish. It's spoiled me from ever buying from a normal grocery store again. The fish is great and the filets are incredible. They are not cheap but so worth it. I prepare the steaks in a cast iron pan that can go into the oven. Pat dry the steaks and let set at room temperature for 30 minutes or so. Rub with olive oil sea salt and cracked pepper. Sear in a VERY hot cast iron pan for 1-2 minutes on each side and then put in the oven (when very hot, 500 degrees) for 4-8 minutes in each side pending on desired wellness. No need to use the grill. read more

Best marinaded skirt steak ever! Tender and flavorful. A sure winner served over white rice and sprinkled sesame seeds and cut green onions. Best of all, it grills super fast. SERIOUS HEALTH HAZARD/CONCERNS-Complete negligence of basic hygiene practices summarizes what I saw during my visit to this establishment. As I walked in I saw an employee feeding a customer's dog directly in the mouth while wearing a blue glove in the hand that was feeding the dog with an open palm and there was obvious contact between the glove and the animal's mouth. He then walked behind the counter, washed the gloved hand (with the glove still on), dried it with a cloth towel and proceeded to help the next customer with that same glove-grabbing meats and selling them to the customer. I asked another one of the guys working if I could ask a few questions and he said he was the owner, which was perfect. When I asked him about the situation and if he had an issue with it he started off by volunteering "I know we're not supposed to have dogs in here but.." and then **shrugged** then avoided answering the question by asking me what would be the difference between a person feeding a dog with their hand and then washing it versus doin so with a gloved hand. He said he WOULD have a problem if the employee had not washed his hand, which was comically silly to even have to say that but gives a good idea about where their standards are. I had to feed him the answer that someone working in the food industry should not be having contact with an animal while handling food. He then said he could ask the employee to change his glove if I wanted him to-so not something he saw a need for as the owner of the establishment. I cannot imagine that this could possibly be in compliance with even the most minimal hygiene standards from any Health Department and it was amusingly shocking to get that response by the owner. I know all food items in the food industry are far from sterile but this is insanely below basic standards. read more
