Ok update: I had written a negative Yelp review about an incident with Manhattan Mini Storage (MMS) and got a reply from MMS telling me to call them to sort it out. I dealt with an incredibly friendly and helpful manager who explained their policies and listened to my complaints/suggestions and even replaced the lock on my unit, gratis. I really appreciated their willingness to work with upset customers. So I'll rewrite my review: My unit is clean, I can get into the unit 24 hours a day, the facility is clean and indoors, and temperature controlled. All good. Plus the bills aren't outlandish. Staff is alright and usually helpful. If you get behind on storage bill payments, MMS will charge you late fees until month three, when they'll give you a final deadline for payment and let you know that your lock will be cut and your unit up for auction about a week after that. I think that's fair enough. In the two years I've had my storage unit, I've gotten really behind on my storage bill on two occasions. The issue arose when I thought MMS had cut the lock on my unit the second time I got behind on payments, though I'd paid the bill well before the final deadline they gave me. I was upset and initially expressed my feelings to a very defensive employee who wasn't very helpful in explaining what had happened. Oh and after that conversation, I received a bizarre letter in September pre-dated a MONTH informing me that my locks had been cut. That's when I wrote the scathing review. When I called MMS after they read my Yelp review and reached out to me to resolve the issue, I spoke to the manager who was much more helpful in explaining my situation. Turns out my lock had been cut the first time I got behind on my bill. That time, I didn't pay way before the deadline, in fact, I paid ON the deadline. So a couple things: - As I mentioned before, MMS gives a final deadline for payment. I paid my bill on the final payment deadline and my lock was still cut. Why? I was told that they cut locks in the mornings...my payment was in the evening. I suggested that if they give customers until (example) the 20th as the final deadline to pay a bill before they take over a unit and cut locks, that means the customer has ALL of the 20th to pay that bill. MMS shouldn't cut the lock until the 21. Or, communicate with customers and tell them "you have until 10am on the 20th to pay your bill." It's not good to wait until the last minute to pay a bill (boy did I learn my lesson), but it's also unfair for a company to give a customer a deadline to pay and then still cut their lock on that day. Customers, be aware that this can happen. Hopefully, MMS will listen to my suggestion. -It's upsetting that I wasn't told until September that my lock had been cut in May. I think that every time a lock is cut, a customer should get a phone call and if they don't respond, an email. I gave them that suggestion and I hope they listen. So for now, I'm keeping my unit and we're friendly again. They really were very kind and very conciliatory, I just think they need to work on communication efforts with customers so that these situations are avoided in general. read more

We had a little trouble at first booking this place...the guy we talked to kept offering us an upper unit even though we kept telling him we have a piano. However, they so exceeded my expectations in every other way that it doesn't matter! Our unit was too small so they found us a bigger one and gave us a good discount on it. We were seriously screwed by our moving company and were at our wits end trying to save money. To help us out, they waived the deposits as long as we enrolled in auto-pay. Their employees were incredibly respectful and kind. Today, we had our stuff delivered to the unit and we had major, major problems with the movers. The staff asked other patrons to move their cars for our truck and everyone was so sweet about it all. On the way over, I left my gloves in a cab and it was below 20 degrees. When we ended up having to load all of our stuff from the dock into the unit ourselves, one of the girls behind the desk found me some gloves. They checked on us periodically to make sure we were OK. Also, one of their maintenance guys had some down time and he offered to help us out. These people went over and above their duty. Esther, in particular, was so wonderful. She listened to me vent about the overs and helpd in any way she could. We really appreciated the level of customer service we were given and this facility will be #1 on our recommendation list from now on. read more

Beware the hidden costs!!!!!!! This company was recommended to me as a good deal. The facility is clean and bright, but they were deceptive in the rate quoted for a 4x4x5 space on the UES (granted cost is higher than their other locations that were farther away from me.) I figure it's much less than would cost for a bigger apt. When I arrived with my boxes, after a written quote, emails, phone conversations, and mailed info packets, I was informed that this rate was for an upper unit. The upper units required setting up a locking staircase ladder and climbing up ten metal stairs with my stuff. I'm a pretty agile and strong fifty-ish woman, who's used gardening and moving heavy stuff around. However, not as easy to carry 20-30 lb. boxes up open construction ladder/stairs. The eye level and ground level units doubled and tripled the cost. When I called my rep at the reso center while I was standing at the front counter (they couldn't do anything) to see if he could fix this, as he hadn't stated this in any of our correspondence, etc., he informed me that this info is on their website, there's nothing he can do, and take it or leave. As I was already there w/ my stuff, I took it, and stated that I'd be writing an online reveiw. This is the first I've ever done, and I feel better already. Also there's a hidden cost (i.e., wasn't informed beforehand) in having to purchase monthly insurance, if you don't have renters or homeowners insurance that covers this. BEWARE OF THEIR MOVING COMPANY - "MOVING AHEAD" - avoid their "2 hour free moving" when you commit to 7 mths deal. READ THE YELP REVIEWS OF MOVING AHEAD. The worst. MMS at 110th was fine- new to it last weekend. However, they subcontract movers to Moving Ahead - rammed my stuff into the unit - cant get into now; very sloppy, rude and couldnt care less about staying within a comfortable 2 hr time frame for the amount of stuff and 14 block drive. As I find most of the staff there are friendly and helpful, I especially apprecaite TONY's professionalism and readiness to help. I can't say enough good things about this place and the gentleman who helped us, Earl Hodge. My wife and I came here with literally everything we owned the day after our apartment building burned in a fire . We came on short notice, without a reservation, and Earl quickly made sure we had everything we needed so that our things were stored safely and securely. Beyond that, we were obviously tired and upset when we arrived, and Earl demonstrated a level of kindness and sensitivity that was a high point during a difficult experience. I was blown away by how kind, thoughtful, professional and friendly the team was at this Manhattan Mini Storage. I had to vacate a space that a former employee of my company had set up to store documents for a publishing venture that had folded over 2 years ago. This was a really difficult thing to coordinate safely in the time of rising COVID numbers and I was dreading having to oversee this - but Brianna, Troy, and Keyonna were SO HELPFUL, walking me through the procedure, helping me figure out options and letting me know what I needed to do to handle the situation. Kind, warm, patient, professional - it is rare that you get such great client service when people are dealing with a high volume situation and probably answering the same questions every single day. I came to this location knowing I needed a unit but unsure of the details involved. The staff gave me a tour of the area, showed me various locker sizes, explained pricing, and scheduled an appointment for free storage pick up. The pick-up service is a free taxi service that picks up you and your belongings at your home and drops you off at the storage location. Getting back home isn't a problem as the site is only a couple blocks east from the 6 train and near many buses. They do require a security deposit which is a minimum of one months fee, depending on your credit. You are also required to pay for insurance to cover any potential damage. It can be pricey but monthly fees also depend on the size unit you need and the location. The site itself is convenient, well lit, immaculately clean, and secure. Each person has a scannable card allowing them access only to the floor which their storage unit is located. The site is well staffed and open 24 hours a day. I'm very pleased with their service and the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Overall, I am very satisfied customer. read more

I came here Saturday to move some of my stuff around and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. When I came in the storage facility is huge and clean! I was greeted by a wonderful young lady by the name of LaKisha, she was extremely pleasant an even helped me search for a storage unit within Manhattan Mini Storage. I did not choose to rent immediately, but I did purchase a few things for my move/storage unit. She suggested different products and even told me what the products could be used for, she told me about alternatives that I myself could not think about. She explained the storage and moving process so extensively that I had very few questions once we finished speaking. I'm still shopping around but her service alone made me want to choose Manhattan Mini as my storage location. read more

I haven't used any other storage options before but this one was really good. They charge about 285$ a month for a studio-sized storage room. A couple of times I was late with my payment but they still accepted it without charging additional late fees. The staff at this facility is extremely helpful. They also provide a free taxi for you to bring you with your stuff or to help you bring your stuff from the storage anywhere in the city. The storage facility is not accessible 24/7 but it is open pretty late (10 pm or so). Overall good service. I would totally recommend their services to my friends read more

Fantastic move in experience today. Booked everything online midweek, including the Storage Taxi. Everything was easy as can be. I booked the 4:00-5:30PM taxi time slot. The very courteous driver picked me up at 4:35, helping me load the van quickly and efficiently, and unload just as well once we arrived. I got the tour, finished my paperwork (pre-filled out by me online), put my stuff in storage, stopped at the amazing bakery across the street for some quiche and ratatouille, and grabbed a cab home. I was home by 6PM, thoroughly happy with the storage unit and the fact that I beat the rain! read more

Fantastic experience with this Manhattan Mini Storage location! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful during my move. They even gave me extra free cold water as I was moving during August/September. The facility is incredibly clean and secure, plus there is free wifi! I used the storage taxi service on my move out of the unit and they were very flexible with my schedule. One con is that the storage taxi employees are not allowed to help you move things into your apt. Although I didn't expect them to help, the driver was incredibly nice! Great experience! This is what happens when you rent a storage unit at Manhattan Mini Storage: They tell you that they don't have the size you want available and they give you a larger unit for the original price that you agreed to. Then, they tell you they'll call you to move your stuff when your desired unit is available, but remind you to call and "check in." If you do call and leave a message, no one will return your call. Then, they try to charge you for the size of the larger unit where you temporally stashed your stuff. You then have to get over there and move your stuff during a time only convenient for them. Then, you'll must likely get a 2nd floor unit, where you have to use a giant ladder to lift all of your belongings into a new unit. My friend and I are college students who used Manhattan Mini to store our things over the summer. We split one small unit, and had plenty of space for two dorm rooms' worth of stuff. Reserving the space in the first place was super easy and user-friendly, and when we got there for the first time with all our things, we had no problems checking in and getting our account set up (BIG shout out to Savonne King, the storage associate who saved our lives--sorry it took me so long to write this review!) We used the storage taxi, which was an incredible help. Throughout our experience, the staff has been nothing but friendly and helpful. This writeup is more about the customer service I received while recently renting a new unit. My experience with a young customer rep named Derrick was truly exceptional. I came in to rent then unit on an early Sunday evening. He was the only rep working at the time. Since it was my first time renting a unit I had some paperwork to complete however, Derrick was extremely helpful in explaining the routine and made it seamless. I was about the 4 customer and since he was the only one manning the desk, he managed to effectively communicate with each of us inquiring of our needs and how to help. The other customers and I commented on how well he was handling all of is. It's very rare that you enter an establishment and are greeted with courteous customer representatives. It's officially I'm in a committed relationship with the Harlem located... it's a little past my first anniversary & I'm still overjoyed. I had a small rent increase which was expected. Jason the facility's manager had prepared me for such. I love that my business is appreciated, actually that I am appreciated. It's always a delight to see Carmen (Asst Mgr) as well as Jason. I had a situation that arouse from my own carelessness (my storage keys was stolen). I called Maria who secured my storage then she, Carmen & Jason made sure I was taken care of during a very stressful period. I was grateful for their support when It was needed. I didn't have to ask it was just given, every one stepped up & made sure I was ok (I swear they are better than family) having one less thing to worry about between police reports & replacing a broken car window was helpful. IMO the Harlem location is the best with the best staff. I cannot recommend this place enough. The day I was flying back to London, my plans for leaving a couple of suitcases in the city fell through, and after I called this branch of MMS they were able to promptly discuss the fees, recommend a storage unit size, and organize the free shuttle to pick up myself and my things. Once I got there everything went smoothly - I was given a small upper level space which requires more lifting, but was fine at the time as I only had those two bags. The staff at the front desk was very helpful, and explained the added cost of insurance (which is required when renting a space). They also graciously helped me find the quickest way to the airport from there by subway, printing instructions for me. Upon my return to the city, I had to store another 4 suitcases because I was moving here permanently. Although the dimensions of the space technically would fit my new bags along with the ones already there, the upper level location of the space was tough. I was exhausted from my flight and it was about 10pm, but I had nowhere else to leave them for the night. I was so impressed with one of the employees -- Derrick Bostic. I asked if he might be able to help me (not realizing how much work it would actually be to lift all the bags up the metal stairs and into the box) and he gladly came with me. It was a struggle to lift and fit all the bags, and required taking out what was already inside. Between the two of us we managed to get everything done, but it took almost half an hour and a lot of maneuvering up those stairs. I absolutely could not have done it by myself. This is my first Yelp review but I felt I had to share - I am glad I chose to store things here over other branches of MMS due to the helpfulness of the staff, despite it being slightly further uptown. read more

Renting a storage unit is stressful. Renting 5 units and then downsizing to 2 while changing primary person on the contract is a perfect storm. The staff at 110th Street is incredibly helpful and was able to help sort everything out. They were also great about renting the units and accommodating our changing needs. The facility has easy access via an onsite parking lot. The floors are clean, freshly painted and the units are in pristine shape. Unfortunately, I didn't get the names of everyone who helped me but I especially give a shout out to Jason, the manager, Corrine and Joe. Manhattan Mini Storage (east 110th street) is so clean. Employees were very professional & helpful. We wanted to store our stuff on 62nd St. But the cost was to high. The staff referred us to their east Harlem storage so the price will be lower. Patrick Scott welcomed us warmly & showed us all the different sizes of units. Things were going well, but then near the end things were crappy. (1) they add on insurance to whatever price they quote you, at minimum $12. (2) bring a fucking lock. They charge you $10 for a fucking lock. And now I'm waiting 1.5 hrs for their "complementary shuttle." read more

Do not use their moving service Moving Ahead!!! Worst experience ever. They moved a friend of mine, an elderly woman. They chipped her furniture and then threatened her with paying more money. The 110th facility is clean and easy to use, but long-term customers get open contempt. My rate has just been raised from $29 to $38, when newcomers are still being offered the $29 rate. The thinking seems to be that once your stuff is there, it'll be too much hassle for you to move it, so they'll charge as much as they feel they can get away with. Difficult to avoid the feeling that I'm being punished for being a loyal customer. Very disappointing. read more

I am blown away by this storage company! I had a 4x4 unit in Cubesmart for the past year and I was so sick of the rat droppings, miserable staff and broken ladders that I was ready to pay twice as much just to get my sanity back. I found the great $29 deal for 4x4 units and even with the insurance included, I save $20 on the same unit I had at Cubesmart. More importantly, the storage company is AMAZING. The worker was so so helpful, he offered me free water bottles and was just really efficient throughout the process (a young gentleman named either Sadiq or Abdul, I forgot to note it down). The unit is spotless and the trolleys are so smooth you would think they just purchased them. I couldn't have had a better experience at this location and I honestly feel WAY better knowing my personal items are being stored there, it makes going there so much less of a chore. Uh, I plan on updating this review after I have actually stored my things and if the experience seems good and on the up and up then I will gladly give them more stars. his review is only for the website and the seemingly "bait and switch" practices which give me great concern about what I will experience the day of. I made a reservation originally for a 4x4x5 room with the fall discount. I realized a short while ago that I may need more space so went onto the website. There was an option there to "Change Room Size" of your reservation and so I clicked on it. It took me back to the homepage. I assumed this was okay since I clicked on the correct link and just continued to choose the new room size I wanted. I saw the discounted price of $109 for the location I wanted and clicked reserve. As soon as it reserved, I see a price of $146/mo down from an original $184/mo. Of course I thought that surely I did something wrong. Not only was there a discrepancy in the price, but this "Change Room Type" button is really just a sarcastic little sucker which just causes you to create an entirely NEW reservation-hence, placing yet another hold on your card. After the second try, when I saw that I now had THREE reservations, I called them. Whomever picked up said he was just about to call me because he saw I am creating multiple reservations and cannot do that. I explained to him that it was not my fault and that the button/link is there on the website and if we are not allowed to make changes to our reservations on the website, they need to take that down because it's clearly misleading and causing them to place a hold on my card unnecessarily. He said he can cancel the erroneous ones and I was sure to tell him the size I now wanted. I also told him that each time I clicked on the room size I wanted at the location I wanted it came up with a price of $109 but once I hit "Reserve", it jumped to $146. I told him I want the room size I intended to get (4x5x8) for the price it was advertised for ($109). He said he would handle it and I would be getting a confirmation email in 10 minutes. I just checked and I received the e-mail with the correct room size and price. Let us just hope there are no issues on the day of. If I was not paying attention, I would have been stuck with the higher price and have no proof of what I was supposed to be paying. Do a better job of updating your website and if a room size cannot be changed online, remove that option! read more

I must say this was a short stay but it was the best, the place was super clean From the first day to the last day, Lakisha was super helpful very patient don't matter what time of the day it is, always a smile on her face, all the staff here is awesome.
