TL;dr - I would not hesitate to use Pat's Moving and Storage again or to recommend them to others : especially to those unlucky enough to be dealing with extermination issues. Pat was one of a number of movers recommended to us by a top extermination firm in the city - movers they'd worked with successfully in the past. Many of the movers on that list either didn't return my calls or were no longer willing to work with customers with bedbugs or didn't want to deal with a long distance move with a destination on a dirt road. Pat picked up on the first ring, was immediately both personable and helpful. One of the key differences to Pat's service is the estimate process. Instead of wanting a list of your items or caring about square feet, number of rooms, etc - Pat actually wants to see what his crew is going to be moving and asks for pictures of any and all large or heavy items to be moved, along with an estimate of the number of boxes you'll be moving. Pat followed up by visiting our apartment a week or so before our move date to personally inspect what we'd be moving. We ended up having 3-5x more boxes than we'd originally estimated - the personal inspection gave us a chance to have a more accurate estimate of our final costs and, more importantly, for Pat and the exterminator to determine the proper size truck and amount of pesticide for our items. On the (first) day of the move Pat was on time, looking for parking during ASP, and his crew arrived shortly thereafter. I was immediately impressed with the crew. Most took the time to introduce themselves. All were energetic, thoughtful, and there was a clear sense of camaraderie between the crew members as well as between the crew and Pat. They clearly like each other and like working together. And they all care about doing a good job - asking questions, asking for clarification, bringing their own supplies, asking to borrow things when needed, spotting for each other, open to suggestions, offering each other suggestions, open to assistance. Even though all our items, as well as Pat's truck and gear, was going to be exterminated the following day, he still brought special supplies to try and keep the space, the move, and his crew bug-free. It was, without question, the best in-home service call of any kind I'd had during my time living in NY. Delivery and pickup to/from the exterminator went without problem. Pat and his crew were on the road when expected - maybe even early. Circumstances made it so that I left the city much later than the moving truck, and Pat and his crew were finished unloading when I arrived at my new home. Despite my absence, he stayed in touch with me throughout the day and coordinated unpacking at my wife's instruction. She had nothing but positive things to say about Pat and his crew. Pat is a professional and seems to be an all-around good guy. He treats his workers well and inspires an energetic and eager work ethic. He stays in communication with his clients. He's transparent about payment and billing issues. He knows when to joke around and when to buckle down and get the job done. Was it a perfect move? No, but close to it. One book shelf was chipped, another ended up losing a shelf-mounting bracket - but they are old and not in great shape, and I should've packed the brackets better/separately. Another oddball piece was damaged, but that was probably mostly my fault. Again, perfect or not, I'd gladly use Pat again and recommend him to others without any reservations. I don't think you're going to find a better mover in the NYC area, certainly aren't going to find a nicer, harder working mover. And if you have bed bugs - Pat is the guy to call for your move. read more

I could not have had a better moving experience if I died and went to heaven. From start to finish, Pat and his team went above and beyond for us. We were recommended to Pat, by the doormen in our building. He had previously worked there, and he struck out on his own to start Pat's Moving and Storage. We called Pat and he quickly quoted us for both packing/moving and just moving. We were so pleased at how reasonable it was to add packing for our move. Pat was able to schedule us exactly when we needed and we came home to a mostly packed place. When we looked around we realized that everything that was unpacked was things we would need that evening (plates, silverware, our bedding, etc). We were struck by the true thoughtfulness it takes to realize how stressful moving is, and knowing you'd want the things that can make it a bit nicer. The following day, they came and finished packing us and moved us from a two bedroom apartment into one single room (because our contractor was delayed and our place wasn't ready). Pat was concerned about leaving our furniture and electronics open to the air while there was still so much dust from the construction. He said he would take the blankets, but he wanted our stuff to stay clean. He ended up leaving his moving blankets with us (for an incredibly reasonable rental cost) so we could protect our stuff Pat and his team are incredible. I don't normally write reviews but after all of my moving/renovation work the past few months I have decided to and there's no more deserving company than Pat's! If I could only use two words to describe this company, I would say efficient and professional. They asked for photos of my furniture and boxes so they could properly size the moving truck (no other movers have ever asked for this) and all of their questions were thoughtful and with purpose. The day of my move, they called with their ETA and arrived right on time and I was impressed how rapid and careful the entire team was. They also worked seamlessly with the fumigation company I hired (I had spotted bed bugs in my old apartment, which was just as awful as you imagine) so they actually took all my items to the other company for processing before delivering them on time the next day. They really made a bad situation so much better and removed a lot of my stress because I could tell I was in good hands (plus they were so kind and nonjudgmental about my situation). I had a great experience using Pat and his moving crew! First my building had bed bugs, so I had to find a mover that was willing to work with the bed bug fumigation specialists and be willing to leave the truck to overnight to be fumigated. Most moving companies hung up or wouldn't speak with me when I mentioned it but Pat has experience working through these situations and was accommodating, and willing to negotiate a flat fee up front which was reasonable considering the multi - day effort (the truck needs to be fumigated over night). I was expecting a truck and 3 guys, he showed up with a team of 6, including himself. They were all polite and professional, they quickly loaded up the truck in about an hour, when I was expecting it to take multiple hours. The next morning the showed up ready to move me into my new place early, with the same crew of guys, and were quick and efficient moving up 2 flights of narrow stairs. Again, the move was completed ahead of what I expected, and when it came time to pay the rate matched what I was quoted. 5/5 would definitely use Pat's again. read more

I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS FANTASTIC CREW ENOUGH!!!! Pat and his crew were incredible! Before our move, he was very easy to get ahold of and made sure that we checked in before the big day to finalize details. When it was time to move, he showed up with 6 delightful gentleman to get all our stuff. They showed up on time and hustled---we were out the door within 3 hours! All our furniture was wrapped in blankets or wrapped in plastic and moved with the utmost care, down 3 flights and then up 4 flights at the other end (it only took an hour and a half to unload everything into our new place). I was asked several times by different members of the team if they could help me sweep as I was cleaning our old place. Every single one of them was strong, professional, polite, and efficient. I've NEVER had such a wonderful, easy moving experience. I'll definitely be using Pat for any future moves and will be recommending him highly to anyone who will listen! read more

Pat and his team did an exceptional job. I had an extremely awkward, heavy sleeper sofa that needed to be moved from New York to Connecticut. There were many rigid building rules on the New York end that Pat handled with aplomb. On the Connecticut end there were two flights of narrow stairs with a particularly challenging entryway to the apartment. Pat and his team were amazingly determined and patient, ultimately removing the entire sleeper mechanism and bed itself from the sofa (and putting it all back together impeccably) to maneuver the sofa successfully through tight spaces. Their professionalism, positivity, and efficiency were much appreciated. Moreover, I was grateful for their determination, handiness (and proper tools and equipment), and general know-how. Pat's moving is a no-doubter. They really did a wonderful job, and it was such a relief at that stressful, busy time. I didn't know what to expect, but Pat and his crew of 6 guys showed up like a well-orchestrated, well-oiled machine. They took action, and it was something to behold. They were all friendly and professional. They took great care of my stuff, carefully wrapping everything. I appreciated the level of attention they put into protecting fragile things, like art, or the huge glass table they had to move. They take pride in what they're doing. When a very old and expensive mirror of mine was accidentally damaged in the truck, Pat took it with him to get it repaired. It's an oval mirror with several small, various shaped pieces that make up the framing. He spent over a month searching for the right shapes to fit the broken areas. He also paid for the damage himself and it wasn't cheap. He's a true example of a responsible person with fair conduct and does everything with a smile on his face! Pat is fantastic, and you can be certain that everyone on his team demonstrates the same level of professionalism that he does. My first move was a very complicated one and Pat and his team really took the edge off of what was a very stressful situation for me at the time. Despite being under a strict deadline, Pat and his five-man crew moved all of my belongings -- including several large pieces of furniture, 100+ boxes and 30+ large heavy-duty plastic bags of clothing, bed linens, blankets, towels, etc. -- out of my co-op apartment and into storage. Then he transported everything halfway across the country, arriving exactly when he said he'd be there at my new home. The quote process was very reasonable and prompt. I've used Pat and his crew for large and small moves. They are great. The estimates are accurate, he asks all the right questions, and arrives on time. The crew takes care of everything you need: wrapping your stuff, reinforcing your boxes, leaving your old place clean, setting things up in your new place. Once you have moved, they will return to build "some assembly required" items, move furniture so you can put in a new couch, paint, or refinish the floor. If you buy something from Goodwill or inherit something from Aunt Sally, they pick up and deliver it with the same cheerfulness and efficiency they give to a whole house of stuff. I had never used movers before Pat's, and in NYC I won't use anyone else. I had a complicated two part move since I was getting our belongings gassed because of a history with bed bugs in our old building. I was so nervous about the process and Pat answered all of my particular questions and stayed in contact with me throughout the whole process.
