As an actress based in New York City I have lived in the East Village for 24 years. I was forced out of my home by a heartless, cowardly, and greedy landlord. Coming back to NYC from the UK for a gig I was greeted by an eviction notice, although I had paid the rent several months in advance. Needless to say, this was a horribly stressful time. Whilst I already had a unit at this location, I needed a second one to store everything I owned in my former home. Shonnette made booking the proper-sized unit painless and within minutes I was able to return to packing up my life. Whilst maximising my existing unit to make more space, Kim McIntosh made disposing of my rubbish (a daunting task) a breeze. The free dollies enabled me to move my belongings and furniture according to my packing schedule. Ben helped assemble my wardrobe box and oversaw the safe storage of my antiques. The customer care in this location is outstanding--I'd give six stars if I could. Kim McIntosh and her team really helped me hold it together. If you've ever been evicted, let alone for no good reason, it is a soul-destroying experience. The staff here made what would have been a tedious and tiring experience a pleasure. The location is spotlessly clean and extremely secure. My existing unit is in the basement, and during Hurricane Sandy I was in England. I made a quick phone call and was assured my belongings were safe and dry. Indeed they were. So, to sum up, I have been a long-time customer as well as having had the new-sign-up experience. I am extremely happy with the amazing sales and customer service I received from Martin. Martin took the time to provide me with a tour of 3 spaces while helping other customers as well. Martin answered all of my questions and I had many and he was able to provide me with great advice based on my storage needs. He listened and even took the time to show me one of the spaces twice. I decided to go with the larger of the 3 rooms I saw and I greatly appreciate Martin's amazing help during this process. He also educated me about the incredible shuttle service that's available. Manhattan Mini Storage is secure and excellent place! I rented a space for 5 month and all my belongings were secured. The security system in the building is great! It has security cameras system in the building, security door at the entrance that is activate only by a security card from customer. Also, the elevator only go to the specific floor for each customer, no one can go to another floor without a security card assignment to other floor. Also, the building is clean, it has dollies to assist with your move on site. Awesome customer service!!!! I recieved excellent service from Jovarny Smith - the General Manager and Elijah Walker - Assistant Manager, they are wonderful people and were super helpful and attentive to solve any problem all of my storage needs. They keep you on three month leases that they raise by any increasing amount with each renewal. You are given no notice and the increases can be by any amount. Each comes with a lease you never see or sign full of new hidden fees, most recently a late payment fee of 25%. Such harsh penalties encourage you to use autopay, making you less likely to notice massive price hikes. All emails are ignored and the office will tell you to move to another identical unit to get back to a fair rate. I was told that over 100 people moved within the building at the start of this year, a huge waste of time with no benefit to anyone, just to get around predatory price hikes. Most people keep their storage units longer than they expect. An honest one year lease with a reputable facility will cost you far less than this predatory business model. read more

I'm not sure if I have ever received better customer service in my life. Whenever I have had to come in to get something out of my space or add something Kim has been there to assist me. She has always greeted me with a smile, asked me how was my day, how's life and I feel as though even though she was just assisting a customer she was a friend. While helping me buy a new lock after forgetting my keys she has even counseled me on my life and relationships with friends which has showed me how customer service at a business does not mean that people have to act like robots. I went to Manhattan Mini storage today expecting to be annoyed by the kind of incompetence I have come to expect from pretty much everyone standing behind a desk in this city. But when I walked into MMS's 2nd Ave location I met the nicest, most polite, professional and proficient woman I have ever encountered. Her name is Kim McIntosh and she is an absolute gem. Renting a unit from Kim couldn't have been a more enjoyable experience. She showed me through the storage area and explained what my options were; she made the way everything works very clear to me; she got me the best deal possible on a storage unit; and she made me laugh out loud no less than 15 times. Even if you don't need a storage unit, go down there and pretend you do just so you can meet Kim. She made my day. read more

Gina Arnaiz, the general manager, at this location is amazing. I had to rent a storage unit under emergency circumstances. She was very helpful under very stressful circumstances. I was able to get movers to come to my apartment and move me into my storage unit the same day. At the same time she was helping me, she was also training a new employee and handling 3 other people who needed help. One wacky lady wanted to renegotiate her contract while making strange cat-like motions with her hands. Not to mention that day's deliveryman hand once again brought the wrong supplies that she needed. She managed to help me and all the others with a smile. On top of that, she found the time to also make me an espresso shot. No complaints. Just hope this woman gets a raise! read more

MMS' East Village branch is a model for any large, multi-location enterprise wanting to do business in (and connect with) a local community. Georgia, the general manager, cares about her customers and oversees a truly professional operation. The staff at this branch is always courteous, organized, friendly and flexible. Prices and offers are clear cut, and they don't slam you with surprise charges or added fees buried in small print. Hard to believe, but they actually turn the drag of storing stuff into a pleasant experience. Who knew?!?! I was generally having a good experience at Manhattan Mini Storage. Carmen the former manager at the East Village location was very understanding and really seemed to care about me as a person as well as a customer. When she left to work at a different location I was disappointed. Recently the price went up and I was going to leave, and then Carolyn, who also seemed to care about me as a person as well as a customer, with the help of Martin figured out a way for me to stay at the East Village location by transforing my storage unit to a slightly smaller more affordable one on the same floor. I am very appreciative of this. Vanessa and Robert also have been very cordial and helpful to me whenever I called or came by to pay a bill. read more

I have had a storage unit at this facility for many years. I have never had any problem with any of the sales associates, but I must say that the group working there presently, really stands out. They are extremely professional, kind and helpful. They don't mind going out of the way to help you and are noticeably patient. I recently had a situation with receiving a package there,(which is a great service they provide free of charge) and Jean-Pierre Duqueroix-Duvalier was quick to jump to my aid in sorting it all out. Jason is one of the other associates there who seems to take great pride in his work and doesn't hesitate to help in any way he can. I recommend this facility very highly. read more

Ron, at the front desk is very friendly, professional and understanding with helping us move in to our unit. I highly recommend Manhattan Mini Storage. In February of this year, I spoke to a very pleasant storage advisor (Emre Kocahasan) and told him I needed storage in May. Emre emailed me some quotes and was kind enough to tell me that it was a bit early to proceed with the rental, but that he would contact me (via email) and let me know when to start the process.
