The guy was passionate about this pizza and he sucked me in to give it a try. Called in an order for a large pepperoni pizza. 20 minutes until pickup. Stopped in to pickup and the first thing I see is a note that says "I am having a miserable day / life. But I appreciate your business. lol! . I am like, WTF?! Dude comes out with my pizza and rings me up. Had to be the guy who wrote the note. Totally miserable SOB and unfriendly. Just had to laugh because he reminded me of the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. Looks just like him and equally friendly. Took the pizza back to our house. Pizza is fantastic. Exactly what the dude at the liquor store said. We ordered a small deluxe pizza along with a regular slice, mushroom slice, and jalapeño poppers for lunch. While not amazing, the pizza was decent for the area, much better than the great barrington pizza fiasco. The pizza had a good crisp and plenty of toppings. Ordered take out... it took about 25 minutes and the man working was really nice. Had the New York style pizza with sausage, mushrooms and onions.. it wasn't as thin crust as I expected. The sauce was okay, a little bland for me, toppings were good and generous and it was loaded with mozzarella cheese which surprisingly I enjoyed. First, the pizza here is great. True NY style. However, their waitress is terrible. She's a bitch. We go there all the time, so I hope she sees this. She has an attitude while serving. She admonished me to "let him [my husband] choose what he wants." My husband and I had been having some playful banter, and we did order different things. Next visit, my husband politely asked for two to-go boxes. She brought us the check instead. My husband politely reminded her, and she snapped "I'm getting them!!!!" We asked her if she would prefer if we pay up front or at the table. She very rudely said she didn't care. Then, we wanted to box our own pizza, but she wouldn't let us and whisked it away. This is the first time I have tried pizza since moving out East from the West Coast. The ease of ordering online was great! They offered made to order pizza by the slice - which was pretty amazing! Manhattan Pizza has a reasonably sized dining area and absolutely no waitresses. One guy (assuming the manager) behind the counter taking to-go orders and answering the phone was also trying to wait tables. His personality was shit, I won't beat around the bush. So... pizza in the Berkshires. What can I say... There is not a lot of good New York style pizza, or pizza by the slice in the Berkshires. I have now tried Manhattan Pizza twice and it will be my go to place for pizza by the slice. It's a nothing fancy kind of place located on Rt 7 at the intersection of Rt 23, just south of the center of Great Barrington. The order counter is tiny and looks like it could use a good re-organization. There is a seating area and they will bring your slices and drinks to you with table service. The same person working the counter brought out my order and check. So it's kind of a mash up of a pizza by the slice counter and a sit down pizza restaurant. I've tried their regular slice and their Sicilian pizza too. Both were very good. A nice, light and airy, crispy crust. It's two for two in my book so if you're looking for regular hand held pizza (not truffle, artichoke, etc... artisanal pizza which I love too), try Manhattan Pizza. read more

Basic pizza bordering on not good. Sign says "pizza by the slice,' I order 2 slices to go. Owner comes to ring me up and i notice the sign on the register 'credit cards 10 dollar min.' I apologetically say that I only have credit, does he want to do a smaller transaction (5.89) or not? He grumpily says "no mater how big you make the sign they never read it!' after taking my card. If he had said it before i would have walked out. Thats something you say to your coworker, in private, maybe; not something you say to the customer. I dont usually write bad reviews but...today was the 2nd time ive ordered from here. The first time, about 2 weeks ago, i ordered a pizza sub, with pepperoni, green peppers and onion. What was delivered was cold, with banana peppers and onions, no pepperoni. Literally was not edible....today, against my better judgement, decided to order again with my wife and daughter. We ordered in store. I ordered a chix bac ranch sub with lettuce tomato onion and ranch. It was fine. My wife ordered a italian with everything on it. She got a italian sub with lettuce and mayo. Manhattan for the most part doesnt have a lot of good food. Two things I like about them, they are one of the few places in Great Barrington that will deliver and secondly, I do LOVE their pizza. Love a pepperoni pizza or a onion and garlic. A perfect foldable slice. read more

Tonight was one of the coldest nights of the year thus far- 6 degrees to be exact, and we wanted a nice hot pizza to warm us up. We only just moved to GB in July and rarely eat out, but the last time we ordered a pizza we were not thrilled so we thought we would try Manhattan Pizza Co tonight. We ordered a medium pizza with spinach, broccoli, mushroom and red onion. They told us it would be ready in 15-20 mins for pickup, and we arrived 20 mins later. The pizza was ready and the total was $19.75 (not cheap, but could be worth it for good pizza). We were so excited travelling home with that warm nice smelling pizza in my lap, eagerly imagining a piping hot pizza overfowing with veggies. Unfortunately when we opened it up upon our arrival home, we were dismayed to find a tepid pizza with a sparse smattering of overly done to a hardened crisp veggies. I don't think it's due to the cold weather that the pizza was not hot either- when I arrived they had it sitting out in the box on the counter, not in a warmer or anything. We are only 5 minutes drive away and the car was warm, so I wouldn't have expected that to be an issue. I will say on the positive side, the crust was thin and crispy and the sauce was flavorful. Also, the restuarant itself is very warm and pleasant inside, so maybe we will give it a second shot at some point in the future and eat there rather than do take out. read more

Had the Pollo something or other pizza here last week and it wasn't bad. I would say that the pizza here is comparable to NJ/NY pizza. The BF and I came here on the suggestion of his cousin who raved about the pizza here. The owner was actually from NY which would explain the name of the pizzaria. The Pizza I ordered had onions, fried chicken pieces, spinich and ricotta. The pizza came out hot and the cheese stringy, which I liked. Two stars for the delivery guy who was very sweet and prompt, now for the bad.... First off, my partner is not fussy when it comes to pizza, truthfully neither am I. The crust was the only edible part of the pizza, there was no sauce, the cheese was tough and greasy and it was so salty I had to chug a glass of water after a bite. Tonight was one of those really cold ones when comfort food was in order, so I ordered dinner from Manhattan. I had a small pizza with a mushroom topping, and it came to a little more than $12 including taxes. The crust was thin and chewy, and the portion of mushrooms wasn't skimpy. There was a good balance of cheese and sauce, although the pizza did seem to be on the salty side. Even though the pizza was a "small," it was actually pretty big. I didn't bust out a ruler and measure it, but the diameter appeared to be more than 12". It was cut into six large slices. I've ordered from Manhattan a few times, and the staff is always friendly. Whenever I've called in a take-out order, the food is ready exactly when they say it will be - no unexpected waiting. The location of Manhattan is a bonus. The parking situation in downtown GB, where a lot of the restaurants are located, is atrocious. Manhattan is a little under a mile from the "hub" of downtown, and it has a private lot that it shares with Trotta's, a liquor store (another bonus - you can pick up your beer and your pizza in one stop!). My girlfriend and I ordered a large buffalo chicken pizza for dinner one weekend while staying at the Fairfield Inn Great Barrington over the summer. We had it delivered and when the pizza arrived the guy opened it up in front of us to show the order was correct. I noted that it was loaded with chicken, red sauce, and buffalo sauce and voiced this to the driver. He responded with, "Yeah, I make a mean buffalo chicken pizza."
