My wife and I had a terrific dinner on a weekend night without a reservation at a little before 6 PM. I suspect a reservation could be needed at times. The staff were excellent and very nice. She immediately brought a carafe of ice-cold water. The food was excellent. We had vegetable samoras to start accompanied by three sauces. The main course of half a tandoori chicken was very tasty and served with rice and dal and the portion was large. The chicken saag was also delicious. I used to visit here frequently when I lived in town years ago, before Covid, because it was essentially the only restaurant with consistently good Indian food. I got the Chana masala which was seasoned to just the right spice level. The rice and plain naan were great, and we ended up getting a second order of the naan. It ended up being about $20/person. We had such a wonderful meal (and time) in Aroma this week. The service staff is the best, knowledgeable with important information about each dish - since we had many questions. The Tandori chicken - wonderful. The bread - just great. Samosas - so many different types available - were great. The food overall here was good. The service was a bit sporadic and at times we thought they forgot about us. It took at least 15 minutes to hail someone down to get our bill. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer Tava Masala, Palak Chole, naan and rice. Both the Chicken Tikka and Paneer Tava were very sweet. They seem to use a lot of cream in their cooking, in my opinion, it makes the food a bit less authentic. Indian food should not be doused with creams. The Palak Chole, Rice and Naan were all great. My 10-yr old niece who hardly eats anything, ate more rice and naan than I've ever seen her eat. read more

I thought chicken korma was weird with raisins and whole soggy cashews. Tandoori chicken was rubbery. Lamb sagg and sagg paneer was very good. Breads were excellent. This is a hidden gem in Lee area and to our surprise one of the best indian food we tasted in MA area. We ordered a goat , and 2 paneer dishes with Naan. Leave Hartford and head toward Albany via Route 7. At around the halfway point, just about when those hunger pangs hit, have I got a cool place for you to try. We rolled into the Great Barrington version of Aroma (they also have one in Pittsfield) at 1:30 on Saturday afternoon. There was just one couple inside, and when they left, we had the place to ourselves, which was really odd because the interior is very pleasant, the service is excellent, and the food turned out to be tremendous. My son and I both went for their lunch special- which was a real value. They have a very novel approach to their lunch business. Basically, they will make a combination plate out of just about any entree on their regular menu for between $9 and $11. For example, We both ended up ordering a chicken lunch special for $9.95. They consisted of our choice of bread (naan, poori or roti), a choice of anything off the chicken menu, plus rice, a vegetable pakora, and Raita (a yogurt dip/dressing). My son went for the poori and Mango Chicken Jalfrezie (mild) and I went for the roti and the Chicken Mussalem (medium spicy). The food came out on these big cool metal plates with a space reserved for each course of the meal. The meals were very good- the portions of chicken were "just right" for lunch. My roti was delicate and flaky and was great for mopping up the left over sauce. We shared a mango lassi ($3.95) that was creamy and refreshing. All in all, we had a very nice experience there. Ordered take out from here the other day. This is the first time I've ordered Indian food in the Berkshires and it was delicious, some of the best Indian food I've ever had. I ordered the nov ratana korma and cauliflower samosa. The korma was delicious, large portions. I had leftovers for another meal and then some. The cauliflower samosa was okay but I'll probably order the veggie samosa next time. I also want to try their naan. Will absolutely be ordering from here again!! read more

Our favorites are the Lamb Korma and Chicken Tikka Masala, great naan, great samosas (with really good sauces) and our kids will eat basically any amount of raita, naan and rice. Color me IMPRESSED. I know Aroma has been in this space for ages now; that being said, the last time I went there was when it was a seafood restaurant (the name escapes me!), and I was definitely around the age of 10. So, yeah, it's been a good 22 or so years since I last stepped foot in that building in general. However, my dad was craving an Indian fest for his birthday, so up to Aroma we went! This is a popular spot; by 6 p.m. on a Saturday night, it was almost completely full! The menu is extremely expansive, making it hard to choose what to pick and choose. To start, we had mulligatawny soup, vegetarian samosas, and kachumber salad. I opted for tried and true palak paneer, and my parents split the Raja Thali dinner special, complete with vegetable pakora, tandoori chicken, seekh kabab, lamb curry, aloo palek, basmati rice, papadam, and plain naan. We loved EVERYTHING we ate! I'd rank it up there with some of the best Indian places I've eaten at in NYC, absolutely! As a person that doesn't like spicy foods, their palak paneer was well-seasoned without setting my mouth on fire. (Always a plus. Ha!) The cheese was on point as well, just the right balance of firm and chewy yet soft. The rice was the same as my favorite Indian place in Manhattan, Manhattan Valley Indian Restaurant, so that alone will have me coming back here again! The naan was so incredibly pillowy, doughy, and buttery. I was able to steal bites from the Raja Thali platter; thumbs up especially to the tender and salty seekh kababs and the buttery chicken tandoori. I am so incredibly pleased with my meal and experience at Aroma, as were my parents. It's all my dad wanted to do for this birthday, so he was a very happy birthday boy, needless to say! I look forward to coming back next time I'm in the area visiting my parents; I don't think I'll have to to twist their arm to get them up there. ;-) read more

Very impressed. The food and service was so good, my family had to come here two days in a row in our stay in ergemont. We love heat and spice to our food. With that being said, we eat Indian food pretty often whenever we get the chance or when we're out of town. This place is by far one of the best Indian food we had. When the waitor took our order, he asked us how we wanted it mild or hot. We love spicy. We're not used to ordering food and it actually being spicy but this time it was actually spicy! We loved it! We ordered palak paneer, chicken shahjahan, lamb vindaloo, 4 poori, 2 nans, it came with rice, to drink my husband had a local ipa, I got a mango lassi. It was the best mango lassi I've had. Tho the appetizers weren't so great as the food, we got samosas, and chicken tikka. The bill came out to be $95. But we more than enough food for 7 people I think. The portions were nice and very filling. We went back the next day. The waitor was so kind to help us order and pointed out the lunch specials to us. It was very satisfying. I got the vegetarian and my husband got the chicken korma lunch special. It can with rice, 2 veg pakora (fried patties), a choice of nan, roti, or poori (fried puff bread), & yogurt sauce. To drink my husband had a mango lassi, and I had the iced Chai tea. It was freshly made and refreshing. I highly recommend this place if you're in west Massachusetts area. It is worth it. We live 3 hrs away, I'm very glad we found this place. Remember this place can bring the spice in spicy so tell them you're level of tolerance. read more
