We ordered takeout over the phone from this place this past Wednesday; butter Chicken (mild), Palak paneer (mild), and a bread basket with 1 garlic naan, 1 plain naan and a paratha. Before I ordered over the phone, I checked online and saw that we would get a free dessert with the entrees. However, we didn't get it when we ordered over the phone. The bread basket/ order we got was 1 garlic naan and 2 plain naan. We didn't receive the paratha; not sure what happened. The food was alright. The chicken in the butter Chicken was tough not tender but the sauce was good. Palak paneer was good. The garlic naan didn't have much garlic taste; it had more cilantro than garlic. We came to manhattan valley to celebrate Diwali with our friends. Met a friend at this lovely, cozy restaurant for their Indian lunch buffet, which was only around $20. The place was spacious, full of artwork, along with a very peaceful ambiance. For my drink, I inquired if they have Rose Lassi, and they made it for me. It was too much artificial rose flavor. I should have stuck with Mango Lassi. The buffet had a little bit of everything: Crispy fish, lamb, chicken, goat, mixed vegetables, lentils, curry potatoes, spinach with paneer cheese, samosas, naan bread, chickpeas with poori (puffy), biryani rice, as well as 3 desserts, including Indian Vermicelli (thin, sweet noodles in a creamy, milky, syrupy soup), Gulab jamun, and rice pudding. I really enjoyed the taste of each dish, especially the lightly breaded and perfectly crunchy fish, the tender and well seasoned lamb, fresh veggies, and the soft, fluffy, still warm poori. Out of the dessert, I liked the vermicelli best. I found the Gulab Jamun to be overly sweet, though the balls were well made and just the right consistency. Service was good. I was invited here by a friend and a loyal customer. He is Indian, and said this is one of his favorite spots, that represents comfort food. Of course he also explained that this is Americanized Indian cuisine, but it's still wonderful. We came for the lunch buffet, and the choices were amazing. Our table was in a corner with each dinner linen folded to perfection at each place setting. It's the perfect spot for a date night or a nice family dinner. I have only had delivery from here, but the food was so good, I can only imagine how much better it could be eating at the restaurant. Absolutely everything I have had there has been exceptional. Being a traditional list I enjoy dishes such as Buna goat and goat stews, and I would put these against any similar dish I have had across the country. The bel pouri is also exceptional, especially if one adds more tamarind sauce. The vegetable dishes we're all notable, especially the bengen barta. I came here at the suggestion of an associate who said the food was very much worthwhile. I was hesitant at first, considering the number of disappointing Indian food options in the neighborhood, but decided to risk it. The day before a major event, I ordered a lunch special with a friend. I knew that I wanted to try their lamb and garlic naan. For lunch, there is an assortment of options from a buffet although you can also order a la carte items well. I went with the lamb kali mirch lunch special which included rice, side vegetable, dal, chutney and naan. There is an additional fee if you prefer the garlic naan over plain. My lunch buddy opted for the lamb curry. Both dishes were delicious, filling, and had a decent--but tolerable-- spice level. They also offer vegetarian dishes. The flavor of the food is delicious and authentic as far as that the vegetables were clearly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Their takeout packaging is reusable and more than appropriate. Best of all portions are generous, and the price point for the quality is adequate. I'm so glad that I got over my initial hesitation!! This place is legitimately good. read more

My family and I have been regulars at multiple iterations of this Indian restaurant. The food has always been excellent as was the service, until tonight. I walked into the restaurant, where all but one of the tables were empty, at 9:15 pm. They close at 10 pm. As the waiter tried to seat me at a small, blind from the street, table and while handing me the menu he said "You know we close at 10 pm, and waited there while I ordered. My food was out by 10:27 pm and the bill was paid by 10:47 pm. This is not the way a struggling neighborhood business should treat loyal customers as they're trying to recover from the pandemic. I love the food, I want to support local businesses. I don't want to be expected to tip 25% when it is made known to me that my presence isn't welcome. read more

Presented in a metal tray. My partner had tika masala & plain naan. Lots of food. My first piece of chicken was very tough. The other 2 were much better. I informed the server that this was a problem. The rest of the food was very good. I chose the ginger ice cream. Very hard but tasty. The gulab was warm, small and singular. My dear friend hosts a lovely Christmas dinner at her west side home, and 2015 Xmas dinner was entirely from this Indian restaurant. (In past years my friend has cooked a home-made, delicious, dinner; this year was a FUN change & really wonderful & delicious as well. All the guests LOVED THE FOOD. The appetizers were great!!! I'm sorry, I can't recall the names, but all were really good. There were many dishes, but I can only remember the name of one dish, & I loved it--The Chicken Tikka Masala. I loved the assorted breads that were ordered. There was a shrimp dish in a same color, light sauce as the color of the sauce in the chicken tikka masala dish. I love garlic, so I enjoyed the garlic naan, & all the breads. All of the assorted sauces were OUTRAGEOUSLY DELICIOUS!!!! I love cilantro, & the green sauce was great. Another fav sauce was the sweet & hot reddish sauce--might be tamarind, but I'm not sure. Just The other night, enjoyed a spinach & chick pea dish, & once again, the Chicken Tikka Masala. & Garlic Naan. Although, at Xmas dinner, it seemed like there was more garlic on the naan. If you love Indian food and buffets, this place is a dream come true for you. They have all the popular Indian dishes like tiki masala and naan bread. My favorite was the chili chicken, it was sweet and spicy and salty and so good with the basmati rice. They even have dessert (although I have had better in other places). With the price and to have all the unlimited food, it is definitely worth it! What they need to work on their hospitality, the layout and seating. We were seated near the bathroom and they seated someone right next to us where it would be tight coming in and out. There were so many open seats available (no reserved signs) that they could easily spread all their customers to make them more comfortable to move in and out. Since they have brunch, you would expect they might have some standard brunch/breakfast drinks like regular coffee, but they did not. This is definitely an authentic Indian place with all the authentic food and drinks for a great price! read more
