I cannot recommend eating here. First, the almond slices sprinkled on the lamb korma were rancid. Yuk. They are incapable of recommending or making mild food, despite us making it very clear that our children would not eat spicy food. Both the butter chicken and the Chana saag were spicy, even for me. The butter chicken was not "buttery" at all. The lamb korma was not flavorful at all either. The breads - naan and roti - were fine, though not like we're used to. And all I can say about the mango lassi is that it wasn't like any mango I've ever eaten. You have to know your menu; you have to know what is and isn't spicy, and if you're charging these prices you should be able to help customers choose wisely. I live on the block so I always walk by this spot. Tried them once a while ago and it was fine but nothing special. Ordered again tonight and same thing. My order was almost $40 and I don't really think worth that. I ordered the lamb sliders and only got 2 and I believe the order was $11. The bread was stale and the burgers weren't very seasoned. The sauce overwhelmed the meat if it was seasoned. The Masala fries were honestly good but I wish they came with a sauce. I was excited about the goat cheese and spinach kulcha but didn't get much goat cheese flavor. When I walked in to pick up, the man at the desk let me keep talking before walking away because he wasn't the person who could help me so it felt very awkward. Every time I walk past, it's always empty or maybe one table sat. I used to see more delivery drivers stopping there but not as much anymore. I can never find good chai and now I managed to find the best cup of chai in the city - it's done right- too many places overdo it with too many spices, too much sugar, etc. but this was the special chai your dad makes when mehmaan (guests) come over and it was ABSOLUTE PERFECTION. This is a cozy, clean restaurant near where I live. We've always ordered their chicken tandoori and palak paneer. They are always made fresh and hit the spot. The food was solid and flavorful and the service by Mohammed (sp?) was excellent and attentive without being intrusive, and when we asked him some questions after dinner he was very warm. They have another restaurant in Bryant park. This place should do well and we were happy to find it as it's only been open for a few months. Atmosphere is basic and it wasn't crowded this night but they are busy with take out. Music provided ambiance and its BYOB so we had a bottle of wine. I've been ordering from them the past couple of months and I've come to the conclusion their meals are overpriced and are stingy with their portions. Earlier this week I ordered; food was cold and barely had any chicken. Not even rice!!! Sorry folks your portions are getting smaller and smaller . This small family owned restaurant is genuinely a hidden gem located conveniently in east Harlem close to central park and just off the FDR. The atmosphere, beautiful interior, welcoming staff, and most importantly the delicious food made my dining experience extremely memorable. We ordered the chicken biryani, butter chicken which came with a side of rice, vegetable samosas, and the garlic naan which was all cooked to perfection. It was flavorful, authentic, and made with love. Their serving sizes were large enough where I left stuffed AND with leftovers perfect for a midnight snack or breakfast the next day. The chef himself personally came out to greet us and to check on how we were enjoying the food which was so sweet. Kalim, the chef, personally greeted us and asked us how the meal was, which was an extremely kind gesture. I've tried a lot of Indian throughout the city and this is among the best, if not the best, that I've had. I ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and it was like I was eating a home cooked meal. The garlic naan were fantastic and extremely tasty. Serving size was great and I have enough for leftovers tomorrow. The prices are so reasonable! I pay more for less at other restaurants. It's a great value! All in all, this is a great group of people really trying to bring quality eats and experience to the city. I know we'll be going back soon and frequently.
